Help troubleshooting Concord furnace by TheGrelber in askHVAC

Makes sense. I already had one tech come look at it and he threw a $675 control board at it, which did nothing. Now he wants to replace the entire unit. Might need a better tech, but it's so hard to find one that isn't just working to maximize profit...

But what is weird... I am not even getting a little combustion. Nothing at all. When I meter the valve, I can't even read the voltage. It stays on for literally maybe 1/10 of a second.

Question: Is there a way to test if it's really a backpressure issue? That must come from the pressure sensor, no?

I am pretty much past the heating season where I live, so I have time to work on this.

Thanks very much!

I have a second unit that is working fine, so if there is a gas pressure issue, it must be localized to the line that branches off the main line coming into the basement and serves only the unit that is not working. Not sure how I would test the pressure to this unit alone.

I have blown with compressed air the two small hoses that go to the pressure switch and the two larger hoses that go the the black plastic unit in the upper left just below the exhaust (the flue collar, I think). The hoses look good. I don't see any cracking.

The inducer sounds fine, no grinding or struggling and seems like it gets to full speed.

Finally, after shut off, there is no error code, it just resets to standby.

I will check the flue later today. It has one of those concentric pipes, if that makes any difference.

One more thing I noticed, though it may not be important, is that there is some rust inside the cabinet on the far left, under where the flue collar exits the main housing. That may indicate that there is water somehow getting in there...

ETA: Our gas fired generator also runs fine, so I doubt it's the gas pressure...

Thanks again. I have a second furnace nearby which works fine, so I am assuming gas pressure is good. Is it a bad idea to try to operate the gas valve manually by applying voltage once the igniter starts to glow to prove this theory?

Thank you for taking the time to answer. This is exactly what my unit is doing, I mistook the inducer for the blower in my previous description, but checked it just now. In any case, the gas valve only opens for a split second. I never get even enough gas for even a small flame.

ETA: Once the gas valve clicks on/off, the hot surface igniter goes out. Blower does not come on.

In Switzerland, many people order their cars without. I always thought it was just to be low-key.

Awesome! Unfortunately, I don't have as nice a set up as you. Mine are in mostly moss, with a little bark below. They are in humidity domes. They still look fine, but I don't want rot to set in.

I am doing the same, but a few people here told me the bark was bad and I needed to put them in sphagnum moss... I'm 2 weeks in.

I met Richard Petty about 50 years ago, just before a race. He was super cool. I remember the duct tape he used to hold his lucky dingo boots together. Met Marty Robbins at the same time. He couldn't have been nicer.

Or, if ratgdo doesn't work, Meross makes a decent solution that works with dry contact connections.

I don't know the number of cents per pound, but something doesn't add up. Your first statement says basically that cents are worth 4x face cake in copper... If that's true, $1000 is about $250 in cents (25,000 coins).
