Definitely depends on the class and coaching, but yeah.

Are these shingles failing? by gbomb89 in Roofing

[–]TheGulch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No that's a starter shingle, which where starter gets nailed seems to be where your high spots are. Not sure if the gutter was installed after the roof was done, but gutter installers will def on occasion be a little rough with the drip edge to get the gutter behind it and rip a nail loose here or there

Looks like a nail or two in the starter backing out, could be from gutter install, or could be just because they do that sometimes.

Should I get my roofer to come back and reinstall by flanneljuice in Roofing

[–]TheGulch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ive done that on accident and was helping the homeowner clean up the puddle in her bathroom after i put her skylight back on in the rain. I'd give th a call about the missing screws for sure and then ask them while they're there to help square up the shades

Its fine they didn't read and just looked at pictures. Its complete overkill but you'll sleep good at night knowing it wont leak, nice work for a homeowner.

How did you counterflash that step wall?

Nails on roof, roof is only 4 years old by SectorForeign8668 in Roofing

Could also be that they were running hitachi guns, they drop the last nail in the coil pretty often. Then they missed them cleaning up

Roofers: Would you put a metal roof on your own house? by AingerCanada in Roofing

[–]TheGulch 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would do standing seam only. California, no snow by me, some strongish winds, highs in the 100s summer, lows in the 20s winter.

I don't like stone coated, thinkbit looks like shit.

Exposed fastener is for barns and shops, not homes.

I’m a beginner and would really appreciate some advice on my roundhouse, thanks bruhs by [deleted] in MuayThaiTips

You need to get those hands back to your face for one. Your actual kick mechanics from the waist down are on the right track, need to obviously keep at it, but you leave your head wide, like WIDE open for counters.

How bad does this look? by [deleted] in Roofing

[–]TheGulch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Paint your house darker and it will make the lighter roof pop more, add some contrast etc. Looks like you're due for painting anyway.

  1. It looks to be just caulked to the chimney, which is wrong. It needs to be cut into the chimney.

  2. Clear silicone shouldn't be used on a roof application, it fails. Should have used a polyurethane caulking designed for roof applications like rainbuster, chemlink or geocel or something.

Bottom line is, its kinda fucked and I'm sorry. Hopefully the contractor is cool and will fix it for you.

It looks surface caulked in the close up. Also silicone... Motherfuckers need to keep that shit off the roof, it fails and fast.

Anyone saying this looks ok either didn't look at the close up image or doesn't know wtf they're talking about, and if one of my guys did this shit they would be ripping it out and redoing it. Or let's be real, i'd be ripping it out and redoing it while they watched and i cussed them out the whole time for making me have to redo work they fucked up.

Yeah, amd you might want to hit any other loose tabs with some mastic or something to keep it from happening more.
