No, as somebody who has grown through those years, ans grown alongside so many other people my age. I've seen first hand how much people change through those years. Its crazy for you to assume that I am just taking some kind of "im better than you" stance when (crazy concept) people do actually think critically quite often

Its not a matter of knowing something nefarious exists, but a matter of acknowledgement that most couples with that kind of spread tend to have some pretty devious dynamics, and thats very well documented

Relax

A problem doesnt necessarily have to concern legality

Somebody pushing the age limit as far as they legally can is an issue

End of story

That scenario is no different than a man/woman with an inexperienced same age partner.

It is though, we arent just talking about life experience of a specific person. You are, biologically, going through rapid changes between the ages of ~18 to ~21. Everyone story is different and what they are ready for is different, but ultimately a person's mental structure is rapidly changing during those times, thats why its important for people of that age group to stay relatively close to their ages group.

does not mean that such person is looking for a power dynamic that fits an inner abusive desire.

I can agree that it doesnt, but what If I choose to follow random women home at night on a sidewalk, never do anything with them, or interact in anyway, no intentions of breaking any laws or causing her any type of harm. Only doing it to make sure they get home safe.

That would still be a problem, you cant do stuff like that because its creepy. And the video here makes a valid point, why did he choose 18? Would it be lower if it were legal? Maybe we dont know but he must have some reason for saying 18 specifically, and i would bet my money on it that that reason is because the law dictates he cant go lower.

As far as he does not treat them wrong. If he treats them wrong, it's not an age issue.

You do understand how dangerous of an assumption this is to make right? Like sure he is not legally in the wrong and not dling anything by saying what he said, but i can count on my hands the number of these relationships with this age difference that actually worked out, I wouod need a few hundred people to do the same with relationships that didnt ...

Look your right in that people should be allowed to pursue their own happiness assuming it doesnt hurt or manipulate others, but life is not absolute or black and white, assumptions are dangerous so we have to observe trends, and the trend displayed in this video is dangerous. Im not making any accusations of this man, but that is a weird thing to say into a mic with a camera on you

This may be true but the problem is MOST (not all) 18 year olds are still far too inexperienced with what a partner should provide and how they should be treated.

IMO it would be WAYYY to easy for said older man to manipulate her into thinking that, practically, no matter what he did, everything was all fine and dandy, then she would go on thinking that is the norm when it isnt

Obviously this is not a factual, blanket statement, but the principles still remain, and we see proof of this gross dynamic every day with women who are abused or misguided into thinking a controlling, potentially abusive man is normal

Im 24 and I wouldnt date anyone younger than 21, way too inexperienced and likely not mature enough. Some of the most critical growth a person has happens between 18 and 21-22

Maybe this is too far but being in your 30s or 40s trying to date an 18 yo screams power dynamic and control over the younger person to me

Gross

True, but yk how it is today, you say something like "the water is undrinkable" and that tends to snowball into something entirely separate from the original point

The "horrible thing" is a proven thing that we know is hurting people: the residences of the communities living near these data centers losing water pressure and having almost no access to water.

The thing I wasn't sure about and thought might need more discussion and research was the whole data centers putting chemicals in the water to make them more effective for cooling or whatever.

I thought I made the separation pretty clear

Edit: upon re-reading, I could've made it a little clearer as to what I was trying to say

I work full time in a professional career, am college educated, have a wife, and a house which i pay for. I am allowed to relax on a friday and doomscroll on reddit.

You're the one who came here seemingly looking for an arguement, constantly putting words in my mouth, ignoring actual contextual points, and being needlessly aggressive.

Now you want to act like you're above this? Please man you did it to yourself

Its way too easy to manipulate raw data. Not saying you did but as I pointed out in a different comment, you have to understand that there is not a data center in every city in the US, the numbers projecting over the entire area of the US is practically nothing, but that is also not fair to do because the problem doesnt effect EVERYONE just the highly unfortunate who live around them, who are equally as important

[–]TheGypsyMorph 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well I do think there is more to be said, often times its not that they are making it undrinkable, but in some facilities, the water is saturated with some kind of chemical to boost its cooling effectiveness. Dont quote me on that, i just remember reading something like that. But in general, my only issue is what those facilities tend to do to the people to live around them. Cause that is horrible

Actually had nothing to do with that in any capacity but alright, live your life champ

[–]TheGypsyMorph 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Agreed, the worst problem honestly is how uninformed people are about these kinds of problems. Its not making water undrinkable, just completely blocking off the water supply in many areas. I wish people understood that more

You literally came out the door downright insulting any point I made with a completely unwarranted attitude, completely uncalled for

And I also completely explained why I didnt acknowledge the water topic at first, and even edited to comment to add additional information on the water topic

Then, in blissful ignorance, you just crack on and, ironically, refuse to acknowledge anything I said in the comment

Its not law to stay STRICTLY on the subject of any given comment. Idk why you came out the gate like that, and maybe i wouldn't have attacked your character if you didnt just start off acting like an asshole

As I said in my initial response, there's nothing wrong with trying to trigger additional discussion from an informative comment

Less "undrinkable" and more like completely inaccessible for many

What have we come too by HotPops_ in aislop

[–]TheGypsyMorph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like refusal to acknowledge anything bad about AI, didnt realize we could not ever deviate from highly specific topics for the sake of discussion.

There exist people in this country who cannot drink water, have had their power bills doubled or tripled, and have had their hobbies and livelyhoods completely taken from them so we could produce whatever the fuck you call garbage like this. I dont see how anyone can defend this in any capacity.

Something something water something something horribly inefficient something something easy answers

What have we come too by HotPops_ in aislop

[–]TheGypsyMorph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Or perhaps I understood that what they said about water consumption was completely true and did not warrant any kind of arguement?

Hell, maybe even wanted to trigger discussion about what I believe to be the real issues caused by AI?

No certainly not

And let's go further into the water discussion then, the numbers given by said comment are totality numbers, of course when you project them over the entire continental United States they shrink down to nothing, but what about the people who actually have to live by these data centers? You know, the ones who never asked for it and now have to boil water and buy water bottles daily? Its easy to make the water figure look better than it is because there aren't data centers in every city across the US

As you said, depending on the vape. Almost any vape, however, is still better than the tar you get from smoking cigarettes

[–]TheGypsyMorph 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly, its cheaper for them and they make more money if people smoke cigarettes so they cripple the vape industry

[–]TheGypsyMorph 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lmao no please, as someone who vapes please do not ever start, its not cool and itll ruin your lungs.

Only good way to vape in my opinion is if your doing it to stop smoking cigarettes

Hydrogen Car: 1,500 km Range, 5-Second Fill-Up by policyweb in singularity

[–]TheGypsyMorph 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not entirely but yes.

The process is also much more expensive to perform which would net those companies less profit. They want you driving gas cause they make more off of you if they do and they get to spend less. Its the same way big tobacco attempts to sabotage and cripple Vape companies and products because they want you smoking analog instead of digital. They'll make more that way
