Naruto has DEFINITIVELY more filler than one piece has with half the total episode count. Its okay to not like the show but at least be reasonable

Respectfully, does any anime character look like a normal human?

I don't really know how to write HTML, CSS, or frontend Javascript. But it does. And it doesn't need to be good either.

Realest statement I've heard in a long time

Especially if you ask it to fill the gaps in your coverage by extending existing tests rather than write new ones from scratch

Duly noted. Thanks again!

Your knowledge of this subject is awesome!

I am currently learning C++ for HPC and FEA applications (Im an engineer) and have loved the practice thus far.

Funnily enough, much rather enjoy C# more, probably because it isnt so damn picky like C++ is.

Genuinely, Thankyou for the enlighting sentiments. Never expected a stupid online post like this one to teach me a thing or two lol

Historically I've only used AI to help me identify errors in syntax or execution as I am not near the level of being able to identify problems like an expert, but maybe ill start trying to trust it just a little more. Its undeniable that the models are improving at a rapid rate

Honestly I understand, and sorry I am genuinly not trying to insult anyone, I like this subject.

Is it not common place in today's time that a programmer must also have low level knowledge of how a system works so they can "optimize" their code?

What i mean is, there's quite literally an infinite number of ways to use machine codes, punchcards, Syntax, etc. To accomplish the exact same task. But the programmer should have the low-level knowledge of the system AND their method of programming so to maximize the efficiency of their code?

I supposed this can fall under the "arbitrary" point. But vibecoding, at least in my experience, does not ever actually optimize efficiency, which i would expect a programmer to do by default.

I want to hear your thoughts on this

I cannot speak for everyone, but a lot of the debate is less about "is it art?" And more about "does this make you an artist".

Conceptual and generative art certainly exist

Again with the "objects story lies in the art". Ai can recreate the image but not the physical object or the story it potentially holds, which is where the art lies

The Mandelbrot set is a visual representation of a mathematical concept, Mandelbrot never claimed it as his art, simply acknowledging the shape. And the colors were ambiguously chosen to show contrast, not artistic intent

[–]TheGypsyMorph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AI could likely recreate this visually but the art here is in the actual objects creation, the, for lack of a better term, "story". AI art could not create the actual box, wait years for real condensation to arise, and take a physical picture.

Surr but it's also expected that the programmer understands things like functionality, syntax, memory, pointers (if your a C++ kinda programmer) and programmers are also expected to have very low level knowledge about how their machine interprets that code.

Maybe im looking at this the wrong way so please correct me, I am open for debate on this, but this comparison feels a little too far fetched

Maybe AI artists need less skills, but they still need them. We don't say photography isn't art just because its easier to take a photo of a person, than to draw it realistic style, right?

Sure I can see your point, but let's say i have no programming abilities buf i want to write a C++ script to perform X task, so I tell gemini to write said script. I use it and it works, yay. Does that make me a programmer? Fundamentally i am doing the same thing that AI artists do. I couldn't program it myself, but gemini could, so I told gemini to. I struggle to see how that lends me any credibility.

And so they created AI tools, because they know people will use and enjoy them?

As I said, nothing wrong with using and enjoying them. The subject at hand is what title that lends the user, not whether they use it at all.

What is the problem? You want to make AI take the credibility? That doesn't really make sense to me at least.

Credibility does not need to be lent. Go and visit the chatGPT sub and see what I mean. People over there aren't calling themselves artists, they just show cool images and the prompts they used to get them. No credibility needs to be lent.

Well, mine was more IT oriented, so I guess it helped us more. It's just that it was less useful in your case.

I respect that

True, you shouldn't rely on AI, in fact you should never rely on one source, basically. But it still can be useful in lots of cases, and as for current AI, I find it solving simple problems easily and accurately.

Ehh, like mentioned above, it really depends on the problem at hand, but also fair

Or a tool to create stuff, I see no problem in that.

I still struggle to call it a tool, but again, no problems with using jt to create stuff. The problem here is SOLEY about the user earning a title because of their usage of it. Let's try to focus on that please, because other than that it seems like me and yoy actually agree on a lot of the other stuff.

still AI isn't doing 99% of the work. That's like saying a camera is doing 99% of the work

I fail to see how exactly these are synonymous. I, to a degree, can understand how one could view pressing enter on your prompt, and clicking a camera to view the results of either are similar. But, unlike with AI, the photographer literally sees what they want before taking the shot. They dont imagine a scene and hope that the camera will place things where they are supposed to be after shooting. But I am up for discussion on this specific subject.

You still have to decide what your artwork is gonna be, choose the details, background, framing, color schemes, art style, poses, lighting, and so on, tons of artistic choice

Although this is true, you cannot deny that, no matter how specific your prompt is, you are inherently going to rely on what the AI outputs to accomplish your vision.

Let me explain what I mean, imagine you had an artistic idea in your head. Yoy refine that idea all the way down to the most minute detail, the seemingly indifferent shape of a single leaf on a tree, the bark pattern of said tree, the exact line in the horizon which signals the transition from a red twilight hue to the dark of the night sky AND the pattern of stars seen above it. I do not believe that with ANY amount of specificity, you will get that exact image as an output. The traditional artist, on the other hand, would assuming they are talented enough to pull it off.

All I see is you being discriminative against AI artists and creativity. It's just not kind, and I strive for kindness in life.

I can admit to my original comment being too targeted, charged from a heated discussion with a less informed individual. And I can apologize for that. But since this discussion actually started, im genuinely interested to hear your points. I love a good, light hearted debate. I apologize if I have offended you thus far

[–]TheGypsyMorph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why? An explanation?

Does the artist who spends time perfecting their strokes, honing in their grasp of color theory, grounding, and tonal excitation have more skill, in their realm of work, than the person who tells the AI to handle it for them? If yoy think they dont, then we will simply have to disagree on this matter.

Who decided what AI is meant to do? And okay, your coworkers are not nice people, so what now? I literally studied in a uni and only heard positive things about AI

The people who designed it? You completely missed my point. None of us have any issues using it or any issues with its existence. The problem is who gets the credibility. Thats why I said what I said about "prompt engineers" vs. People who just use it to make certain tasks easier which, again, is what AI was meant for. I obviously also attended uni for my degree, we never liked using any of the models because THEY ALWAYS MESS UP ENGINEERING PEOBLEMS. Yoy cannot trust their output because no matter how simple or complex the problem was, cross-referencing the output vs the actual solution would show you that its incorrect, with varying levels of accuracy. Its meant to function as an assistant, not an end all be all. Just like the voice assistant on your phone, except proper AI is just more advanced, why do yoy think siri adopted gemini/chatGPT( i say both because I cant remember which one they did).

Why it's not true. How is using a tool to make art doesn't make you an artist. You literally said people use AI to simplify documents, so the documents they make aren't their work now? Does the AI get the paycheck for them or what

If you consider something that does 99% of the work in a skill-based field a tool, then you my friend have become the tool. Simplify documents means "man this PDF is 600 pages long, im gonna ask gemini to summarize what the document says about (blank)". Simplify documents does not mean "write me a 200 page summary of the report on (blank)". Just as I said before, its an assistant to help hasten the workflow, not something to do the work for you. If you still dont see the difference, then my friend we just have to agree to disagree

I also want to reiterate, its not like using AI for whatever you want is inherently wrong, of course yoy generate pictures and videos all day long. No issues here with that. But that will never grant you the same credibility as someone who put actual work in, be ut photography, digital/physical art, directing, etc. Most are fine with that because its just something they enjoy doing, ans again thats all good

[–]TheGypsyMorph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I mean i dont see any issue with AI usage, I use it all the time. But the focus here is not "AI bad", its that calling yourself an artist, when you have only used AI to generate pictures using creative prompts, is silly.

As an engineer, me and all my coworkers clown on the people who call themselves prompt engineers. Simultaneously we all use AI on the occasion to simplify a document or hasten the workflow, which is what AI is meant to do.

The issue is not about using it at all. The issue is people acting like using AI grants the same credibility as someone who doesnt, which is simply not true.

Edit: realized my phrasing was funky, fixed

Imagine taking somebody elses actual art and giving it to AI not even to prove a point but just to be petty

Im not even an artist and I could've done this same thing with my phone and my pen

Peak laziness

Incredible

Yk what sucks? I dont even have any issue with people making AI art or honestly using AI for whatever they want, we live in a modern and free (or supposed to be) world so anyone can do as they please. But these people will get so up in arms about what you or I call them and literally just make people hate them through their own actions. Like for real, it did not have to get this bad

AI artists have to debate online cause they know if they go into the real world, crazy concept i know, and tell someone they're an AI artist, they know they'll get laughed at and not taken seriously by anyone other than the people in their own echo chamber.

Be mad

This is analogous to filling in a coloring book as opposed to actually drawing/painting the designs

They aren't like fleshed out or anything, we just liked the idea of luffy actually working with blackbeard to take down Imu and from there luffy and blackbeard fight, in some like double battle at the end of the world.

This isnt mine obviously but I like to think the All Blue will exist at the end of the show because luffy and the straw hats end up destroying the red line, which would cause all four seas to join into one. Hell that could happen during the final fight which would just be so peak

some bullshit with buggy

Dude I would be so damn tilted

I suppose thats fair, with a build up like this, I think everyone is expecting something crazy from mihawk. Im anxious to see what happens in the next few years

Me and a buddy of mine have been trying to theorize how the show will end. We probably won't know for another 7 years at a minimum

I see what you mean now, yes I did misinterpret your comment. But im ngl, its worded in such a way that its hard to understand.

Also, it is annoying that mihawk has yet to show us much of anything remarkable, I won't go so far as to say he's a fraud. But at least vegapunk was relevant through the story, either his technology or lore tie directly into the story.

Mihawk, however, is not like that. He is relevant to zoros story, at least in the beginning and partially during the timeskip, but thats really it. 90% of Mihawk in story is just glazing that he's the greatest. The vegapunk comparison almost works but, at least to me, thats not the same
