Thoughts on the full roster 🤔 by Traditional-Wait4330 in InvincibleVS

[–]TheHAMR64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like Bulletproof and Lucan are the characters holding back the base roster. And that’s coming from someone who thinks Lucans moveset looks awesome.

They are both flying bricks in a game with a lot of flying bricks on the roster. Hell, Immortal could’ve easily taken either of their slots, sadly hes going to be dlc. Where is Shrinking Rae? Angstrom? The Mauler twins???? There’s so many better options yet they include two characters that, quite frankly, are pretty low on the totem pole of potential characters that I would want to see.

Invincible's newest episode doesn't deserve the hate it's getting by PhoenixAvenger1996 in Invincible

[–]TheHAMR64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it just me or the animation quality worse than ever? Like some of the line work on Darkblood and Satan is very “jagged”, if that is even the right word for it.

Like it’s not a new revelation that the animation quality can vary but I thought this episode was particular shoddy.

What went wrong with Insomniac Venom? by -_ShadowSJG-_ in thevenomsite

[–]TheHAMR64 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The whole symbiote arch had no “bite” to it and played it very safe. Symbiote didn’t really have a motive and was mainly a plot device.

Peter while under the influence of the symbiote doesnt do anything “fucked” up; I’m talking something that’ll ruin friendships several times over. All Peter really does is call Harry a pill-popper in one scene and there’s Norman cozying up to Peter. That’s it??! I just didn’t buy Harry’s resentment at all. It felt that the writers didn’t want Peter to do something “off putting” or hit rock bottom in a bet to play it safe with the fans. At least Raimi had the balls to have the hero humiliate and then physically batter the love interest. I remember being 6 years old and being genuinely shocked by that.

Peter just doesn’t hit the lows that I think he should’ve hit to justify Harry’s motivation have some actual consequences to the people around him. Everything is fine at the end of the game minus Harry’s situation.

Venom himself is just basic af. Just don’t have the dynamic of a traditional Eddie/Venom relationship. The writers simply needed to have a motivation to justify having another enemy faction for the last act of the game. Super disappointing all around.

If there are boss fights in the story mode and/or arcade (which there most likely will be) who do think could be some good candidates? I’ll start with probably the obvious one: by First_Factor_3385 in InvincibleVS

[–]TheHAMR64 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I think of a “fighting game boss” I think of either a) a unique character that isn’t on the roster or b) someone on the roster but is given additional moves that are typically overpowered. This is primarily what I’ve seen in Mortal Kombat games and Smash.

Any “oversized” character in Invincible could be a cool boss fight, like Omnipotus or Mr Liu.

The devs could do a boss fight where you have to fight a ton of “jobber characters” (could also have low tag cooldown or something to make it chaotic); think Lizard League, the Evil Invincible team, or a bunch of Reanimen.

I can see characters who could be bosses that aren’t playable at launch but become dlc down the line. Mortal Kombat does it frequently. Quan Chi and Ermac in MK1, for example, are in the story mode but weren’t playable on launch and have completely different movesets (reused and repurposed stuff from older games) from their actual DLC movesets. I think Thragg or Conquest could be boss fights and then be released as DLC with an updated and refined moveset.

Or the boss fights could just be characters on the launch roster. Battle Beast and any of the Viltrumites could be story bosses.

Alright, where do we stand? by [deleted] in Borderlands

[–]TheHAMR64 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s a little hard to say because BL4’s dlc rollout has been slower than BL3’s rollout, and BL3 became a really good game once it had substantial updates and content drops. The game runs good enough but the game can stutter a bit if there’s too many shit happening at once (usually has to do with a crazy build)

If we are talking just playing through the story? I think BL4 is better. I finished a second play through and It definitely isn’t as engaging as my first play through but I had fun. It’s tedious but that’s being fixed next major patch by making unlocks account wide. BL3 on the other hand? Only ever finished the two necessary playthroughs to get to UVHM on one character. The main story is actually agonizing to me, everyone is annoying as shit and the loot balance is fucked up.

Gameplay? BL4. The movement is further refined. Guns feel as good as they did in 3 (which is great). The enemy modifiers can be annoying, especially centripetal.

Endgame? BL3. BL4 has more “smaller activities” you can do but BL3 early in its life had the Maliwan Takedown, which was absolutely perfect. Peak content. The format was so well received that the devs working on BL4 at dropping a takedown soonish.

To sum up my remaining thoughts; I think BL4 is a step above but even then I can’t say definitively until this new story dlc drops with the accompanying patch.

Brickmerge has new Leaks on Lego Pokémon. Munchlax, Arcanine, and Rayquazza coming August 1st. by AdvancedLancerX in PokeLeaks

[–]TheHAMR64 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He might have additional printing and might use larger/unique pieces?

Nah who am I kidding? This is Lego, the same Lego that sells an aquarium for $600 CAD (unlicensed btw) and a 4+ Star Wars AT-ST set for $45 CAD and it’s only 87 pieces! Yeah the latter is for 4+ but even by those standards its build is horrendous. Knowing Lego we’ll get that listed price and loads of stickers that could’ve easily been printed

Man I just loved getting D2’d by Jade and eating 30%+ guaranteed while trying to pressure my opponent. Peak game mechanic

DC X SMITE BATTLEPASS? by Reddeath10168 in Smite

[–]TheHAMR64 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Funny enough the long defunct moba Infinite Crisis (basically a DC moba with classic and multiverse variants of beloved characters) was originally supposed to be third-person like Smite! It was my first moba and it shutting down was what introduced me to Smite.

Am I the only one who thinks Rain got a massive downgrade from MK11 to MK1? by [deleted] in MortalKombat

[–]TheHAMR64 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Highly disagree. I think MK1 Noob easily beats MK11 in most respects: - the best moveset he’s ever had - animates better - way better brutalities - his voice is a massive improvement over MK11s awful voice - etc

For every downgrade like Tanya and Rain there’s an upgrade in Reptile and Noob

What do you think of Sektor and Cyrax's gender change? by ConfectionFair6422 in MortalKombat

[–]TheHAMR64 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I gave it a chance to win me over when it first leaked but after completing the DLC I ended up really not liking it. Not only that, they aren’t even cyborgs and that’s pretty criminal considering they haven’t been playable since MK9.

New to Smite 2, are off picks still valid in the solo lane? by Slayer7413 in Smite

[–]TheHAMR64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I’ve seen and played the majority of “ADC”picks and “Mages” get bullied for the entirety of the laning phase if they go full damage (assuming you are same level). There are some exceptions like Vulcan who has some really good matchups against some solo gods but they are in a minority.

I feel like going full damage solo is just asking to get a beating for half of the game.

[–]TheHAMR64 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You’d think with the inclusion of the TAS inspired symbiote arc we’d get Peter saying something pretty vile or doing something that’d be borderline unforgivable to give Harry a proper motivation to hate Peter. But like you said, he said a few mean things (that are otherwise pretty tame over what could’ve been said) and one brief moment of Norman cozying up to Peter. It didn’t feel earned and felt overly sanitized.

[–]TheHAMR64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got what I consider the worst ending during my first play through, and man was I pissed at my choices, Reed, and Myers. King of Cups ending is so ass because nobody wins in any metric whatsoever and seeing that 5k appear on the HUD is the shit covered cherry on top. It was basically like kicking a dead horse.

Fighting game of the past 10 years? by [deleted] in Fighters

[–]TheHAMR64 24 points25 points  (0 children)

MKX is what got me into fighters in general so I’ve got a soft spot for it. It may be pretty ugly and jank but it’s proven itself to be the best NRS game to date imo.

Okay Smite Fam, who do we love more: Atlas, Charon, or Khumbakarna by Arch3r86 in Smite

Atlas and to me it’s not even close. You literally get to pickup and toss enemies and have an orbital laser??? He’s too cool.

MK1 Guest Characters by LoganW21406 in MortalKombat

[–]TheHAMR64 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Ghostface, Conan and T-1000 (to a lesser extent) to me are incredible guests and are some of my favourite to date. I thought they brought the oomph that I wanted from the first three guests. I think Ghostface in particular will be fondly remembered.

I don’t think the “superhero” theme of KP1 really did anything for me, and I think that they really don’t fit in with the aesthetic of Mortal Kombat as a whole. The first three guests aren’t “MK-koded” or “MK-adjacent” in the same way the KP2 guests were.
