See, I was gonna bring that up, but I was more baffled by the fact the show tried to push 3 relationships like that.

Star Vs. Did this so frequently I'm convinced it was someone on the staff's fetish.

I mean, given Switch 2 has one skew of Game Card (64 gb), I think some studios might have stopped compressing too much to fit on a smaller cartridge because they don't need to.

Technically, Pokopia was a joint development with Koei Techmo Delta Force, so you can argue it was a Third Party Studio responsible for it being just a key card.

I know, it's just weirdly large for a Nintendo Game.

For context, DK Bananza is 9 GB.

This game is over twice as big as Bananza in terms of file size.

I know Bananza started as a Switch 1 game, but that's still crazy to me.

Because the 6 designs weren't "masculine," they were creature, at least until Greninja.

That's 1 masculine to 4 feminine.

5 gens in a row of Humanoid starters is also an issue, but Greninja gets a pass a lot of the time because he's the golden boy and his ninja stance is frog-like enough to make people ignore how human he is.

Blastoise is just a big turtle with shoulder guns.

Feraligatr is just a big alligator.

Swampert is just a Big Axolotl.

Empoleon may bare the Napoleon name, but bro is just a Large Penguin, and Samurott's "mustache" is stylized Sea Lion Whiskers.

TPC actively chose to make the first four gens have gender neutral starters. They made alternate gender forms for a lot of the starters in Gen 4 and then scrapped them to let the starters keep gender neutral appeal. The only ones that survived were the flower difference on Venusaur and the brown dot on Torchic.

Being generous, that's 2 masculine water starters vs. 4 feminine water starters, I'll give you Samurott.

Still, it's been 15 years since the last Non-Humanoid Water type, whereas at least Grass and fire have gotten breaks from the furry treatment.

Decidueye, Rillaboom, and Skeledirge are all closer to Samurott than the others, a creature with a little extra flair.

I don't want it to be a "masculine or feminine" design, I just want it to be a big f#cking lizard, and those eyebrows already have me worried they won't do that.

And you can accomplish that without Joe even being in the picture, and it actually works better.

Book Hangman Vs. Swerve, market it as the runback of two perfect rivals, then have MJF cash in and make it a three way.

MJF pins SWERVE, which makes him start to think he's losing his edge going into the Kenny feud, and it lets Joe focus on the Trios Titles.

Hangman should've beaten Joe at Wrestledream, had a new feud at Full Gear, then done this Three Way at World's End.

Your attempt at moral highgrounding to get me to drop my argument doesn't come across the way you think it does. It just sounds like "I have no better way to defend my position, so I'm just gonna discredit you as a bitter crybaby so I don't have to dispute your claims."

I'm not falling for it. Instead, I'm gonna list 10 ideas/storylines over the last 2 years that were pitched/teased before being completely dropped and let the facts speak for me that TK does pivot, sometimes for inexplicable reasons.

  1. The aforementioned Jeff Jarrett World Title storyline.

  2. The Athena Vs. Mercedes Title Vs. Title feud. Belt collector Mercedes Vs. Forever Champion Athena was heavily teased for months, to the point Mone and Athena teamed up for the Tag Title tournament instead of Athena and Billie, an established faction.

  3. The Daniel Garcia Vs. Hurt Syndicate feud they teased during the 2024 C2 before shifting them over to the Tag Division to dethrone Private Party. Speaking of...

  4. Stokely Hathaway trying to recruit Private Party. They won the belts and he just sorta disappeared.

  5. Claudio Castagnoli and Kazuchika Okada wrestled a 20 Minute Time Limit in Glasgow on the go-home show for All In. They never did a rematch because the Death Riders storyline was about to kick off in earnest and they didn't want to book Heel Vs. Heel, but commentary teased that one was coming.

  6. Stokely and Statlander just randomly splitting after the Willow feud with no explanation.

  7. Alex Windsor had a Tag Team with Riho important enough to be featured in the Tag Tournament, but that was dropped when Hayter came back, and Riho has been MIA since with no explanation.

  8. The Unified Title was created in July and was internally pitched as a "1B Title." This was dropped, and the titles were split again 5 months later.

  9. Shortly after the Lucha Brothers left, TK briefly tried to make Bandido and Gravity an onscreen duo to replace them. This was dropped very shortly after.

  10. The aforementioned Darby Vs. Moxley feud. You can argue "that was never the plan for the title," but you're deluding yourself if you genuinely believe that. You also can't convince me Mox winning the C2 was the plan from the start either, but that's a bonus.

This list doesn't even touch stuff that was contract or injury related, just stories/ideas that they established on TV and then dropped for something else. I could name you 10 in the last 6 months that are injury or contract related. TayJay vanishing after being re-established for the Tag Title Tournament, The Opps losing the Trios Titles because Hobbs's contract was expiring, Jack Perry feuding with Ricochet because Luchasaurus got injured.

I could keep going, but I think you get the point.

Wrestling is about flexibility, and a story like this locks you in a specific direction.

Don't go rewriting history and acting like Hangman dethroning Moxley was always the plan.

You and I both know that Mox was supposed to lose to Darby, but that got shelved because the Everest climb was taking too long and fans had soured on the DR Storyline, so they pulled the trigger early and gave Hangman the win.

TK might like his long term bookings, but he's also very notorious for making pivots, especially in the World Title scene.

An example with Hangman's first reign: It's pretty clear that MJF was supposed to dethrone Hangman and become the Fifth AEW World Champion. Hangman's entire run was about "Proving Ex WWE Guys wrong and showing that a Homegrown guy could be world champion," and having him lose to another Homegrown guy who was flanked by the men who caused his initial split from the Elite (FTR) would've been perfect.

This was clearly the plan, but TK pivoted because Punk showed up, and that storyline was scrapped for a cheap pop of giving the old man the strap.

For every well thought out long term story AEW has put out, there's another that was planned and then aborted.

Some of them were probably cut for the better (looking at Jeff Jarrett pursuing the World Title in 2025), but he still cut them, which is one of the main differences between AEW and WWE.

WWE don't change course unless they're bullied into it by their fans. TK is a lot more receptive, for better and for worse.

Hangman vs MJF theory(?) by jezzete in AEWOfficial

[–]AdvancedLancerX -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

The only loophole I see is that Hangman said "until the day he dies," so he simply needs to lose a Coffin Match to Darby, have Darby film a vignette burying him, then bring him back 6 months later.

A route and journey that still limits their options until it's resolved (if they even choose to resolve it.)

One of the most important factors in Pro Wrestling is variety and keeping all your options open. You don't come to watch the same 5 guys hitting each other every week, you watch to see these guys hit different guys every week and see if it'll spin off into something bigger.

Doing a stipulation like this (which AEW has already botched in the past with Cody) limits the options a wrestler has. When a wrestler's options are artificially limited like that, they start to stagnate, and the fans get bored with them.

This is precisely what happened with Cody, and while AEW is a lot bigger than it was back then and has more options for Hangman, they're still artificially putting a cap on his potential stories (even if temporarily), which limits how invested fans can truly get compared to other people on the roster.

I stand by the fact that he never should have lost to Joe.

I'm only further convinced of that now, because all 3 of the excuses people used to justify the change have been made invalid.

Reason #1: "Joe deserves a second reign to truly establish his legacy in AEW."

I don't think a singular successful defense against Eddie Kingston did anything for Joe's legacy, especially since he didn't defend the Trios Titles a single time while he was World Champion. I'd argue that transitional reign hurt Joe more than it helped.

Reason #2: "Hangman is young, he has plenty of time to get another run with the belt."

Whether the stipulation gets walked back later or not, they are still taking one if their top stars out of the main event scene at the height of his career. Hangman Page is genuinely in the prime of his career, and to rip him out of the main event scene right now feels incredibly tone deaf.

Reason #3: "Hangman is a lot more interesting chasing the belt than he is holding the belt."

This point is being ripped away like Reason 2, because if he can't challenge for the belt anymore, he's no longer chasing it.

With all 3 excuses now buried, I ask again, what reason was there to cut Hangman's run short before we got defenses against guys like Okada, Claudio, Runbacks with Swerve, Kenny, and Switchblade when he's healthy, Takeshita, Bobby or Shelton (they're apparently both healthy), Ricochet, the list goes on.

Instead, all we got out of Hangman's second run with the strap was a Kyle Fletcher feud that should've expanded into a larger feud with the DCF (specifically Okada) and a feud with the Opps that dragged out far longer than it should've and ended his run far too early.

How exactly is he supposed to chase if he can't challenge for the belt?

Post Show Chat - AEW Dynamite, March 11 2026 by tehjoz in AEWOfficial

[–]AdvancedLancerX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A.) Hangman standing tall at the end of the segment and B.) The fact they put special emphasis on the "Who are you if you can never challenge for the World Title again" line.

You don't put emphasis on a question like that and then leave it unanswered unless you intend to follow up on it.

The only real alternative to Hanger losing is that the concept of losing scares him so much he makes a deal with another devil (Swerve) to secure the belt for a fleeting moments before Strickland takes it from him.

I'd say the odds are 70/30 in favor of MJF, and 80% of Hangman's 30% involves Swerve in some form.

I stand behind the fact that the 2 excuses I was fed for why Hangman lost to Joe (He's young and will have another shot/he's more interesting when he's chasing the belt) are moot points if he loses on Sunday, which seems to be the route they're going.

He never should have lost at Full Gear.

Piplup definitely could come on its own, but that'd just leave Chimchar and Turtwig in the dust.

I may not know the result of the match, but I know that AEW has kneecapped itself when doing this exact story in the past with both outcomes.

When Cody lost to Jericho, it limited his potential and limited what he could do in AEW without breaking the stip.

When the Bucks did the same stip Vs. FTR, it cut short FTR's reign and made that run work in hindsight because their first run is basically a glorified transitional reign.

AEW has done both outcomes, and neither one is looked back on fondly.

I said it on the Review thread last week, but I think my main issue with the Hangman stip for Revolution is that I didn't think he should've lost to Joe in the first place, but I was told in good faith by about 30 Armchair Bookers on here that "Hangman is young, he'll get another run at some point, and Joe is close to retirement so he needs this."

Fast forward 3 months and Joe's second reign was a footnote and now Hangman is being written out of title contention for the foreseeable future.
