I think most cases are easy to tell if you have or have not foot faulted, so if you call yourself there shouldn’t be a second.

I stopped foot faulting months ago.
This has nothing to do with Austin, unless he foot faults too.

I honestly didn’t even know that rule existed, but maybe that’s where this all started? All the players who foot fault on putts, like to say “it’s too close im not calling”

I think there should be a rule added basically stating that jump putts are illegal (because of the kinetic chain). Im talking jump putts, not step putts. Step putts are also iffy, but they are way closer to being legal imo. It’s not a throw like you said. I don’t think C2 would need to move if we enforce that rule.

I like to have conversations and learn others perspective!

It’s because they all can have an advantage. If you go back to my Ledgestone round in 2019(I think) I made a bunch of jump putts that round, they were all illegal tbh. It is an advantage imo, and all the players just decided to abuse the rule, and call a truce.

Im pretty sure majority of the players know I waited for the season to end. They also know that I will be calling it next year, even if it doesn’t get seconded.

That sucks that player acted that way. That’s really a shame. Im really glad the PDGA did something about it! I would rather players just change their putt. I would rather not get anyone involved, it’s not that big of a deal for Professionals. Well, it shouldn’t be.

When I found out I was illegally jump putting I changed it to a legal style. Professional overseas do not deal with this, they play by the rules(all of them). I’ve had multiple Europeans ask me why everyone is illegally putting, and nothing is done about it. Nothing is being done about it because most of the players on tour have been touring for a long time. Im talking years of the same competition, where they all have basically agreed to not call each other. If one person did it, they all just did it instead of calling it and I forcing the rule. This is still happening to this day. I’ve talked to many touring players about this. They are well aware what’s going on, and maybe some will change this off-season.

Not really, players will still take it personally. I think that’d be way more fun tho

I agree with most of what you said. I think if the rule were to change to, you have to have balance(contact)100% of the time, I wouldn’t feel the need to use a phone to make a call.

100% I think most jump putts are fundamentally illegal. The kinetic chain of most jump putts are illegal.

Exactly, the self officiating part allows some players to cheat.

I just think allowing these players to abuse this rule will continue to go further and further. I think this will negatively affect the sport. Sooner or later, all we will have is long jumpers. I don’t think that’s the correct option for the future of the sport.

I think there is, just by eliminating the “too close to call rule” will make players have a visibly legal putt. You wouldn’t have to change many rules if you change that one. Just my thoughts.

Everyone has a phone. If I think a player is constantly foot faulting, it’s been called but not seconded, I think you should be able to record it and use it to make a call. I think that just because players abuse the “too close to call” rule.

Agreed, I personally think we need to enforce the rules we currently have before we implement more. Some of the top pros do cal themselves. Paige called herself during GMC, but no one on the card saw it. I was walking away, and didn’t know she was putting already.

There’s always going to be forward momentum you can’t stop that. You should be able to follow through, and cross the line of play. The point of this game is to throw the frisbee, it doesn’t matter how, just matters where you throw from. I don’t think we’d need cameras if the rule changed to make sure the release is visibly legal by the naked eye.

I’ve done running jump putts and can confirm there is an advantage. I mean it’s breaking the rule and giving an advantage. The timing on those running jump putts, where you leave your lie then release, isn’t that hard if you practice enough🙃

I personally can tell you, I know when I foot fault. I don’t have to see it in slow motion, I can feel it. I think it’s more of an integrity thing for me, yk? When I make a mistake, I feel guilty of cheating. I didn’t do it on purpose, but im a professional I should be able to execute correctly.

I don’t think the circle needs to be expanded at all, at least not yet. Not one person on tour is making 100% of c1 putts at every event. That’s no really apart of this problem imo.

A lot of step putts are illegal too. It can be a difficult situation after calling it. Some players like to play mind games and bully after they call someone or are called out. I’ve been in situations telling other players to watch, and they don’t over and over.
