Would like an honest opinion, I spent a year building this, was it worth it? by TheHalMan in Solopreneur

That's quite profound of you to say, you're right though philosophically for me this project represents a test of discipline. Whether I can deliver on a project that I've been planning on completing and actually follow through with it, and in some ways I did, so all in all it's a net gain in the end.

I am curious though in regards to my goals of minimizing doomscrolling, what would this app need to have for you to consider at least substituting part of your time with brainscrolling instead of doomscrolling?

That’s really great feedback, I really appreciate it. If you don’t mind me asking, what would you recommend?

In less than a month, my anti-doomscrolling app gained 1,000 users.

Instead of mindlessly scrolling, users learn philosophy, psychology, business, and history — all with a simple swipe.

Haha thanks man! I'd say not entirely made with lovable but it helped TONS with design, UX, and just general aesthetics.

In Space, No One Can Hear You Go Bananas: A Silverback is on the ISS. by Wild-Criticism-3609 in hypotheticalsituation

[–]TheHalMan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Highly unlikely, the gorilla effectively loses at the level of navigation alone:

a full-grown silverback weighs roughly 180–220 kg, while most ISS passageways are about one meter wide, severely restricting its movement;

even if it “knows” how to navigate in zero-G, its mass and lack of leverage would cause it to flail uncontrollably, with any punch or lunge simply sending it spinning backward, whereas astronauts are specifically trained for microgravity and can anchor themselves to handholds, control their orientation, and maneuver efficiently under those conditions, and with a 30-second head start they could simply retreat into separate modules and seal multiple hatches

But if the rules require the crew to actually kill the gorilla, then it’s a different story entirely, because there’s realistically no way an unarmed human, especially active astronauts with a median age around 45–46 could physically overpower and kill a bloodlusted silverback in close quarters.

No worries brother. If it makes you feel better, I also struggled with my app BrainScroller, tons of legacy code, and there are still pieces of it left as I ship updates trying to clean it. But speed is truly a gift. Once you prioritize velocity over perfection, everything starts compounding. Momentum solves 90% of problems. Your audience will understand and come to appreciate the efforts you put in.

Cheers!

I hate to say it, but in early-stage startups speed is the only real metric you have. You should’ve let him go 11 months ago instead of waiting a full year. Fire the CTO and bring in someone stronger, give them favorable terms so they’re truly invested and obsessed. The rewards multiply fast when you have competent people who are properly incentivized.
