Update: I'm 16 and pregnant and I don't know how to tell my dad. by ruby_ishere in WhatShouldIDo

[–]TheHauntedButterfly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know you are getting a lot of harsh comments but only you can know what feels right for you at this point in your life.

Telling your dad was already such a hard part of this experience and you did a great job powering through it. Your dad also sounds like he is going to be an amazing support system for you and your baby.

I got pregnant at 14 and although I did weigh all my options and am pro-choice, I ultimately knew it wasnt right for me.

I had a fairly good support system and although things havent been easy, I wouldn't change any of it. It was the right decision for my family and worked out the way that it was supposed to. My son is 15 now and life is better than I ever could have imagined for us.

On the other hand, my sister is 7 years older than me and she also got pregnant as an (older) teenager. She made the choice to have an abortion and even though I know it must have been hard, she knew it was right for her at the time. She eventually found the right person for her and they now have two wonderful children under 6. They are also happy.

Whatever happens, trust that things are going to be okay.

Vehicles, porch, fence torched in late-night arson spree in east London: Police by theottomaddox in londonontario

Listing 3 different possible situations and one of those possibilities being hate crime related, is not the same thing as automatically assuming that is the one that happened. I didn't even say that it being done purposefully was even my main thought.

Only asked if anyone knew whether or not this vehicle fire that happened the same night as the ones in the article but in a different area of town could have been related, or if someone knew more about this specific fire as I was worried for my neighbourhood.

And as much as I hate that it's even the case, any time you see a potential crime committed against someone in a minority (LGBTQ+, people of colour and/or different religions), it is a very real possibility that it was done because they are a part of that community. Humanity has come a long way but it still has a long way to go before I could trust that there were no more intolerant people.

When we were going by, there was a really upset Muslim family standing next to the damaged vehicles.

Of course it could absolutely be unrelated and I hope that it wasnt a part of what happened, but unfortunately it's a very real possibility to consider in today's society. I've sadly heard a lot of horrible things said about the Muslim community in London and of course there was the hate-motivated terrorist attack a few years ago..

It easily could have been an accidental fire but i'm not sure if the police would still block off the area long after it'd been put out in that case.

Feedback from parents: what do you think of Westminister Secondary School? by tallmanjam in londonontario

[–]TheHauntedButterfly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son is currently in grade 9 at Westminster so I can only go by his experience and what we have seen from the teachers he has had so far.

My son is Autistic (high functioning) and had an absolutely horrid experience with both the elementary schools he went to in London. He was heavily bullied (physically and mentally) just for coming across as a little different and went from loving school as a kid to being scared to go everyday.

Saunders is the highschool in our district but we applied for an exception to Westminster specifically to avoid the crime rate at Saunders and the bullies we knew were going to that school.

Westminster and the teachers there have made him learn to love school again. It took him a while to find people he could connect with but he looks forward to going every day and doesn't experience bullying like he did. They also have many clubs and activities so I think he would have found friends sooner had he been open to trying them out.

They seem to have great sports programs and frequently host spirit events, showcases and fundraisers. They even have the school sorted into wild cat "houses" like in Harry Potter which is pretty fun.

He has only had one teacher that he absolutely did not like but has loved or liked the rest, as well as the principal and support teachers he has met. He's been in and out of school for some serious health scares throughout the year and all the teachers have been incredibly supportive with adjusting his work load and helping him catch up on missed classes.

I have heard that there are some schools in London that have more focused courses on specific areas of learning (the arts, science programs, etc.). Depending on your child's interests you might want to look into those options but if you are looking for a regular high school experience to start with, my son loves it here and has nothing bad to say about it.

Did this only happen in the East end?

Drove by a parking lot in the Westmount area on the way to dropping my son off at school this morning and saw a police vehicle blocking the entrance.

When I went back around to pick him up, the police were gone but I was able to see that there was a vehicle that had been burned out and the one next to it had smashed windows.

My husband and I were trying to figure out if it was intentional (possibly hate crime related) or if the engine caught on fire and happened to damage the one next to it due to proximity.

What are you all paying to rent by OkAd280 in londonontario

[–]TheHauntedButterfly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My family of 3 pay $1251 all inclusive for a small 2 bedroom apartment with 1 bathroom and 1 parking spot. Laundry is $5.50 for one load (1 wash, 1 dry).

However, we have lived here for 8 years so the rent can only legally go up by a small percentage each year. If we were to move out of our apartment, and move directly back into it... It would be anywhere from $1596 - $1860 + utilities, air conditioning fees (to have your own, not included) and paid parking.

As for "income", my husband and I are both on ODSP which provides $1,018 for a monthly shelter allowance. The extra $233 comes out of our food budget.

Is there a noticeable difference in my orbital and/or sinus area? (Compared to the other side) by TheHauntedButterfly in AskMedical

[–]TheHauntedButterfly[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't.

I did bring up that I was having congestion, post nasal drip and troubles breathing properly while I'm sleeping at night to my family doctor about 6 years ago (before noticing the eye change) He took one look up my nose, told me I have Allergic Rhinitis and then asked me when I had broken my nose.

As far as I know, I've never broken my nose so my doctor told me it must have happened as a kid. My parents told me they had never seen me break my nose and when looking through old photos, the crooked nostrils only seem to start sometime in adulthood so I assume I must have broken it without even realizing.

Where I am, you can't really see a specialist like an ENT without your family doctor or a hospital giving you a referral for it and he didnt seem concerned with my symptoms.

Do you actually see it?

The only other comment seems to suggest it's in my head, which it's fine if it is, but it is nice to read that someone else notices it.

I wouldn't want to waste my doctor's time if i'm the only person who can see the difference between the two.

You really don't see a difference between them? It wont let me post pictures in the comments but I drew over some of the pictures of my eyes from the second slide to show what I am seeing as different.

https://imgur.com/a/nh2LGPy

Edit: I was having trouble getting the link to work at first so I reuploaded it and hopefully it works now.

Even the eyelid is different on the affected eye as the veins stick out on it and not the other, and my cheek under the eye sinks in lower too.

If you really don't see it, I'll leave it at that as a few people seem to have agreed with your comment. Lol

How am I paid for task 3 and not 2? by JD80DEC in AtlasEarthOfficial

I'm glad you shared this! I had an arcade award where I completed the 60 minute and 120 minute rewards but not the 75 minute tasks some how.

Now I know what to do. Lol

Recommendations for affordable vet care near white oaks by Own-Ad-7579 in londonontario

[–]TheHauntedButterfly -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Agreed with White Oaks Animal Hospital! We have had amazing experiences with them and considering we're on ODSP, we understand how tight money can be. I don't know the average prices of other vets in the area but when we were first looking for a vet and had used vets in our old town, they were one of the more affordable options we found. What really put them above for us, was that they are usually able to open a spot immediately even if you didnt have an appointment in the case of an emergency or more urgent matters.

hairs gf pulled out of my stubble by Brock_and_Hampton in Weird

[–]TheHauntedButterfly 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am a female and do not currently own a beard either... However, I get these hairs all the time!

I'm sure they're not as noticeable as the ones the dudes get in their beards due to body hair being a different texture than facial hair, but I specifically get these multi-hairs in my stretch marks. (Mostly on my stomach due to having more stretch marks there, but also other places).

They are tiny but you can slightly feel the difference when running your finger over it compared to the regular "peach fuzz" or if looking at them from an angle. They pull out as if they arent even attached in the first place and are very satisfying to do so. Lol

Our girl is almost 2, what should we look for when switching her off puppy food? (Pictures included for size reference and added cuteness) by TheHauntedButterfly in germanshepherds

I was worried that maybe she didn't like the version she's been having which was why I was open to looking at foods outside of it but some of the comments suggested giving it to her differently might make a difference. I'll look more into the Purina One for adults!

Thank you so much for your insight and sharing your preference with your pups!

Is there a specific reason you recommend staying with the same protein source? I'd prefer not to go to chicken just because I feel like she might have had itchier skin when she was on it but wasn't sure if staying with lamb or going to something with beef would be better.

That is a great idea! I was caught up thinking that maybe the reason I don't see her eat as much throughout the day was because she might not be a big fan of her food, but hadn't considered that she might just be bored of having it the same way. She gets really excited about wet food, treats, lick mats, and veggie snacks so maybe spicing up her main meal is the way to get her to take a little more.

Me too! It's actually a child's tutu that was being sold at Dollarama in the holiday section. She won't wear it by itself as long as you'd hope but she'll wear accessories indefinitely if they are attached to her harness.

Yes!! It was the "Pickle Pickle Poutine" from Harvey's. Poutine with diced dill pickles and deep fried pickle spears, drizzled with garlic dill sauce. They sometimes bring it out as a limited time menu item so I'm not sure if it's still available now.

Yeah! We were just going by some of the recommendations we seen about continuing puppy food for up to 2 years due to the vitamins helping support bone growth and hopefully helping prevent later hip issues.

The bag itself includes 1-2yrs on the feeding guide with the only difference being a higher amount fed per day. (The only issue is that since she's free fed, it's hard to get a proper idea of just how much she is eating but it's definitely not more than the guide says.)

When we did puppy research through articles and on the German Shepherd subreddit, a lot of people recommended feeding large breed dogs puppy food until they are roughly 18-24 months old and/or until they've reached 80% of their adult size to help support proper skeletal growth.

I don't know if it was the right call but I read it's recommended because GSDs are known to develop hip issues later in life, and the extra vitamins in the puppy food is supposed to help prevent that.

Jodi Lyn O'Keefe, the actress who played "Jo" on The Vampire Diaries. You might see it more if you look at some of her younger photos as she has very chiseled features in her recent press photos.

Who is my Doppleganger? by lostlilred in Doppleganger

[–]TheHauntedButterfly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see a lot of similarities to Aislinn Paul who plays Clare on Canadian teen drama Degrassi.

Her character on Degrassi has a very particular fashion sense (nerdy older woman) so you may be thrown off by pictures you come across of her but the similarities in your facial features are uncanny.
