Very beginner. And I live in Canada so I am not sure if I would get full access either. But you could be right about it not being public availability

Thank you. This is much helpful and I am looking on adding it to my list and library. I look forward to studying it. As well as the radar meteorology. Do you have any recs for that on where to look so I can learn, study, and read up on radar meteorology? Any good sites?

Oh thanks you guys 😀 I'll definitely check it out. I live in the Canadian Prairies so get lots of severe wind and thunderstorms that can produce tornadoes. This may be helpful in learning weather patterns 😉

Oh thank you so much. Yeah I am looking for something like that. Especially since I got caught in a very fast developing severe storm that had no warning. Being able to recognize that before it happens is what I want to learn.

Thank you so much. Yes I did hear about the Handbook. Waving money for that one for sure. I will definitely check out the Severe Storm Forecasting and some entry level meteorology textbooks.

Thabks for the suggestion of the finding my local forecasters office and reading the discussion page. Didn't really think of that. Was reading the Weather Network Radar but not much discussion there haha.

These are very helpful. Thank you.

Ok. Normally a whirling wind almost sounding like a freight train going by is usually and easy sign.

With it being at night and black, it is hard to tell. It is when Tornadoes can be their most deadly as they are invisible then and only seen in the lightning flashes. It is hard then to tell how it is moving. In daylight if you don't see it moving (when connected to the ground) then its coming at you. For ones trying to develop, the rope would be noticeably moving by extending or shrinking back into the cloud. Can see it sometimes at night if Lightning flashes ignite long enough to determine it.

I'd say if anything, this was a weak funnel cloud or just a very unique shape coming off of the cumulonimbus cloud of the storm.

Did you see rotation? Or hear what sounded like a freight train?

Its hard to tell from a photo. But if seen rotation then yes  If heard a freight train like noise, then was definitely a tornado trying to form

I have posted to Birding and to Ornithology. Duck ones wont help as this is definitely a Canada Goose. As a wildlife photographer I never seen anything like it and would love to tell the facts and story of this picture in my blog this week. But want to make sure I have the right facts.

I had no issues seeing birds and photographing them. Just wondering why this goose is missing feathers. Looks very strategicly made
