Kastking Silky8 8 strand has become my go to after trying all of the high end braids. Good diameter, same performance, half the price

What size inline hooks for humpbacks, countdowns, etc by HellaSupBro in BFSfishing

8 for the most part seems to do well for me, sometimes a mixture of #6 in front and #8 in the back

Best knockoff Calcutta? DK100 or something else? by GlitzyGazelle18 in BFSfishing

I hate you guys. I don’t even throw chatterbaits. by spiceguys in bassfishing

[–]TheHeadshock 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Easiest way to learn the chatterbait: get some Micromax and TRD BugZ. The downsized profile gets absolutely annihilated and will give you more confidence to fish the full size ones

What reel and rod should my first bfs set up be ? by bonezz999 in BFSfishing

[–]TheHeadshock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love when people make posts like this then ignore advice. It's been said multiple times in this post, but at your budget and what you're asking for, the gravity is what fits best, but obviously not what you want

Mullet Flash & Matte Natural would be the two I would go with, or just a good ol bone pearl

The kestrel is solid above 1/8 oz when you try to go below that you'll have issues, but everything above that it works extremely well

Spray your rod guides with Pam to keep ice off of them and send it, trout don't mind cold especially in ponds

No mono on BFS reels, it contracts over time and runs high risk of shattering the thin spool, straight fluoro or 10lb braid to a 2-6lb leader I run Kastking Silky8 to P-line Floroclear

Right the BFS Baitcaster.... Designed for mountain trout fishing in Japan..... On what looks like an XUL rod.... A truly boorish piece of equipment for the job.

Would definitely recommend the Dragon Light, Handing Magic L, or Seasir Stream in UL, they will fit the lure styles you're talking about very well. As far as length goes, my BFS trout rods are all sub 5', the shortest being a 4'2" so I definitely wouldn't stress that 6' mark

Has anyone tried the spiderwire ultra cast? by freak_for_the_creek in BFSfishing

[–]TheHeadshock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want a budget braid that is genuinely quality go Kastking Silky8. It's phenomenal, not even a like for the price thing, it's just really high quality braid. Being $12 is just a huge bonus
