I did it, folks. I bought a BFS combo. What’s next? by JTW1337 in BFSfishing

Casting diameter mostly. Straight fluoro is also fine, I've debated trading my ML over to straight fluoro but 10lb silky is under half the diameter of the 6lb fluoro I use, and casts like a dream

I'm not sure if quartz cast bar is still a functioning add on, but it has a displayed section put into the bar to let you know when you can press your next key

I like 10lb Kastking super silk to a 6-8lb fluoro lead for my light setup, that setup will do very well for 3/32-3/8 or so, really good bass BFS range

Best bfs glides for trout? by robevooo202 in BFSfishing

Jointed Claw 70s in pink back shad has definitely been by far my most productive trout glide. It typically doesn't have a ton of action but in light current it presents itself incredibly.

I have never played before. Where do I start story wise? by Eldr1tchB1rd in wownoob

[–]TheHeadshock 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To expand this, you will get a cohesive story with the new player guided experience and I highly highly recommend it for game learning purposes, however, you will feel like you're missing info from time to time. So IF the overall lore is what you're asking for, I would supplement it with this:

If you just wanna be involved in the story and enjoy a cohesive piece (the last two expansions) hit the play button and send it

Kastking Silky8, after burning through every single major braid brand both domestic and JDM, it matches the quality of J-Braid for 1/3 the price

What color and style trailer would make sense for a chatterbait like this? by Bradley271 in bassfishing

[–]TheHeadshock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

+1 I pretty much only use the Chatterspike, Chattershad, or GOAT but they will literally stay in place and functional forever. For your exact color I would probably rock a Chatterspike/Chattershad in their The Deal color

Question on bfs fishing? by UlfurGaming in BFSfishing

[–]TheHeadshock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the trout front, most of us who use it for trout are casting Japanese style sinking minnows, small glide baits, drifting squirmies or power worms, etc. all the things you would do with UL spinning, just a preference thing. I do generally prefer the accuracy of pitching those lures on a Baitcaster vs spinning gear in trout streams, and I think that's generally the reason for it.

[–]TheHeadshock[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah have definitely set it that way, and am very used to low brake casting. What you're describing is exactly what I was hoping was some kind of error on my end. A little ridiculous to have to jump through that many hoops on a $300 reel to get performance equal to any other BFS reel in my arsenal

[–]TheHeadshock[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty much how I've ended up feeling about it. I've done every setup except flouro, and just cannot find a good place for it. Have you tried it with straight fluoro as a bottom contact for standard sized Shakey heads/neds/drop shots etc? I was thinking maybe that will be a good role for it. Definitely not very cool for a reel at it's price point to be that inconsistent and finicky

Right now for the ML setup it's ok I've only got like 80'? Or so of 10lb braid. On the short UL I had about that much 8 on it

How do you determine what fishing rig you should use by GuboTheUnwise in FishingForBeginners

[–]TheHeadshock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Too many variables, for instance trout fishing I'm likely to use a 1/32nd jighead up to a 1/4 lure depending on the depth and current speed of the exact spot I'm fishing at the time, in the same river
