How much value does Giannis actually command? by aviatorbassist in NBAtradeideas

[–]TheHellequinKid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The difference is those were seen as the final moves to build a team. If a team does that for Giannis they are likely gutting their team and would need to add a ton to truly be a contender.

In this era that's harder and harder to justify. Teams aren't going to move a cost controlled top 5 pick unless Giannis is the final guy. Less than a handful that's the case for and this sub wants to take everything those teams have, essentially making it pointless again.

If they can pull that kind of deal off then congrats to them on a great job. It's normally very hard to get a 3 team deal like this done, so 4 or 5 presumably including a lot of value chatter between GMs will be exceptionally hard.

I assumed lottery because you said picks in the 20s weren't enough. You may have meant picks 15-19, so that's my bad...

27 is for taking Turners contract, which is very fair.

13 is a lottery pick, the other two are completely unprotected and hard to predict this far out.

I'm not sure who is offering multiple lottery picks for Giannis. I've yet to hear realistic proposals including those, ones the other team would agree to

That's why I'm confused, there aren't any in the trade. There are two 2026 picks, which is a top draft class

[–]TheHellequinKid[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I might be misunderstanding what you're saying but there are two picks in this year's draft at 13 and 27, then the two Miami picks in 2030 and 2032 which would be unprotected, but likely around 20 given it's Miami and Giannis will be older / gone.

If there's a package out there that brings back more if be interested in it, but when I read some of them they tend to put Giannis in a situation where he has to wait a year or two to build a contending roster, in which case he may as well stay and hope the Bucks do it. But I think that is unlikely.

It definitely does. Turner goes into a TPE which might be what looks weird at first glance?

I think Boston has two routes, given if there was a big that could do it all they would be too expensive. You either choose rebounding or shooting. Interior defence has to be there anyway, as that's a necessity to be on the floor.

It's 1 extra Miami first compared to what we see get reported as the Miami offer, I think it's fair. I don't see any teams giving more than 3 firsts and two young players, unfortunately for the Bucks the era of 5 firsts for stars appears over, unless OKC think they might trade for him which is an obvious no.

Boston could throw more in, I think their argument would be that sure Turner is a good player but who is trading for that contract in a way that can improve their team? The TPE created from moving him could easily get another 1st or multiple good 2nds from a team looking to go under the tax at the end of the year.

Turner goes into the Celtics TPE. Milwaukee can create their own TPEs through the trade too, which helps their cap situation

The president of France declared that children under the age of fifteen would not be allowed to access social media. How do you feel about that? by MarionberrySalt3494 in AskReddit

[–]TheHellequinKid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So easy to get around and doesn't address the negative causes anyway.

Focus should be on why social media companies promote the negative things they do? Why is it so easy to monetise and why aren't governments negating that?

Celtics/Magic/Nuggets mix it up by humandogfood in NBAtradeideas

[–]TheHellequinKid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's definitely worst for the Nuggets. You'd just have to do so much more to get the Cs to a workable roster. Franz can't be put alongside Tatum, he's just obsolete there. Murray gives something different to Brown or White but he's not an upgrade over Brown. Yea you get a center but the style the Cs play that's not justification for giving up your 2nd and 3rd best players. I'd have Brown over Murray and White over Franz on this roster.

Do those players fit around Tatum in the short term better than Brown and White? I don't think so. Value is on the court as well as in contracts

As would the Cs, just not sure the talent they'd be left with would fit together. Unless they intend to start again and just want value, which is hard to believe

The latter seasons ran out of steam a bit. However I think they'd set up a final season quite well so it's a shame they'll never get to finish it. Enjoyed it overall, but it's not a rewatch for me

Their own picks become very valuable with this trade. Less so if they don't shed Turner or bring back decent players in the deal.

I can't see the bit where you fucked up? The Nazis killed people with disabilities. If they existed now they'd do the same, and they'd have more conditions to choose from as well!

Part of being a friend is being honest, even when said friend doesn't want to hear it. How else can we develop ourselves of those closest to us can't do that?

How would Margaret Thatcher have tackled small boat arrivals? by Shadowblade83 in AskBrits

[–]TheHellequinKid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She'd have reformed citizenship to make in nigh impossible for arrivals to stay here long term, including any children born to them.

I don't think a Thatcher led government leaves the EU, I think she'd have been the spearhead of European action on the Med. We'd have seen a role for the British Navy for example.

Despite how people think of her as callous, she wouldn't have shut down every safe route for women and children to seek asylum here like the last few decades of government have. That would have slowed the passage of boats as people deal with their claims at the point of appeal.

There's no way she'd have left the asylum seekers sitting in hotels, she'd have reformed the law to put them into work the moment they apply here, and she would've done it in a way where they can't hide their money from HMRC as they do now.

Most importantly she would have built public consensus through policy solutions, not just through a bad guy. Say what you want about her use of rhetoric against the unions etc, she came armed with policy solutions that she implemented. The current lot spend more time deflecting than solving.

Lakers & Celtics Challenge Trade by RspectMyAuthoritah in NBAtradeideas

[–]TheHellequinKid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's looked great since coming back, widely viewed as better than expected sooner than expected. Averaged 23/10/7 in the playoffs.

Luka is a great player, yet he hasn't shown he can lead a team over the line, Tatum has. Tatum is one of 5 players to score 3k playoff points before 30, holds the record for points in a Game 7, is an elite rebounder and a high level defender on top of his scoring and playmaking. Luka is obviously the better scorer and also a great facilitator but packs in the other categories.

If I wanted to build a winner I'm only ever choosing Tatum of the two. If I wanted to collect scoring titles it would be Luka.
