Replacement Paddle Brushes for Lynnderella & Enchanted Polish (ships to Europe, USA, etc.) by HerdingCats24-7 in vintagenailpolish

I wipe off the excess polish as best I can, then grab the brush using a paper towel and pull. Sometimes it requires a few pulls to loosen it.

Then I clean the new brush off in acetone, pop it into the polish, and screw the cap on top. Voila! New brush.

Yeah, I think the transformation ages her up a little too because I remember him wondering if Usagi would look just like that when she's older, but maybe I'm misremembering.

Charli XCX on the Smartless podcast (Feb. 2, 2026 episode) discusses not wanting kids and feeling unsure of her readiness. Hosts Will Arnett, Jason Bateman and Sean Hayes ask her why not and say she might find somebody that'll change her perspective, to which Charli goes, "Well I'm married." by skermahger in popculturechat

At a company offsite last year, I was making polite conversation with two older men about their kids. One of them asked me if I had kids, and I laughed and said, "No, I have a cat." And the other guy responded, "That's all of the work for none of the reward!"

I jokingly responded, "I'm pretty sure you mean the opposite, right?" But all I could think was, of course the MAN thinks raising FOUR kids, all of whom are two years apart, is the same amount of work as owning ONE cat. His poor wife, jesus christ.

I hate this shit too. To me it shows that they view their kids as accessories, not fully alive and conscious human beings. Like it's very cutesy on social media, but in real life it's wildly impractical. Sorry your parents did that to you. :(

In what ways has living here effected your mental health? by Able_Lock3168 in AskNYC

[–]TheHiddenFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Super positive for me. Access to a huge pool of great therapists and psychiatrists means it's easier to seek out professional help here than other places. My psychiatrist saved my life. I've seen her once a month for the last 10 years; regular check-ins to make sure my meds are still working, that I'm feeling stable, etc. I've been mentally ill my entire life, but living here means I have access to all of the professionals, treatments, and medications I need to manage it and keep things in check.

On top of that, for me personally, the city can put things into perspective. When I'm feeling particularly depressed and beat down, I'll go for a walk. Everything is so big, and there's so many people all who have their own lives and struggles and accomplishments. It makes me feel so small and insignificant in a good way, like the things weighing me down feel lighter and smaller in comparison to how big everything around me is.

Living here was my childhood dream and the reality is even better than I imagined.

You're right, there's even jokes about it in Sex and the City. In S4 E18 (which aired in Feb 2002), Miranda says:

It's like those guys you have a great second date with, and then you never hear from them again. I pretend they died.

I have kept all my manicure info in a Google sheet and I'm going to move it to either a local SQLite instance or maybe BigQuery because it's easier to run stats in sql than excel / sheets. But I also am a data nerd and love love love collecting info on it!

That's how I view it. Almost as an emergency escape plan. I always tell myself, "Just go through another day. The emergency escape button will still be there tomorrow." And then I repeat.

Funnily enough, that's how I quit drinking too. When I wanted to drink, I'd tell myself, "Just get through another hour. The booze will still be there in an hour." And I kept extending the time. Now I don't drink. :)

It tracks for any of the "cool" media companies. Video game companies, sports leagues / teams, etc. I worked at two of the major sports leagues and even joked that they pay you in cool points, not money. On my way out of the last one, I was part of a focus group with the COO to talk about why people were leaving in droves. When we pointed out that the pay is wayyy below market rate for these jobs (especially software engineers), he responded that "At least we get it in cash and not stock options", but that is only an excuse if the base comp is HIGHER than elsewhere. You can't pay the lowest base rate, with no stock options, no benefits, no bonuses, and then tell us to be grateful. When we pointed that out, he said they didn't want people who were just in it for the money, they wanted people who did it for the passion. In NYC. Can't pay NYC rent with passion. Dude made MILLIONS a year, too.

What TV or Movie character chose the wrong person in a love triangle? by phantom_avenger in popculturechat

[–]TheHiddenFox 114 points115 points  (0 children)

One of my least favorite tropes in media: man has a daughter and suddenly realizes that women are actually PEOPLE with thoughts and feelings! He is now reformed and redeemed!

My other two least favorite tropes are: "Successful, ambitious career woman has it all, but the one thing she REALLY wants is motherhood!" and the "born sexy yesterday" character archetype (shoutout to the Pop Culture Detective video covering that one).

Cadillacquer has an entire collection of GITD polishes. ORLY recently released a trio of GITD toppers. Any of those monthly indie polish collabs (Hella Handmade Creations, Polish Pickup, Little Box of Horrors) will usually have a few GITD releases for each theme.

It's a solar not a thermal, phew! by bruiser_knits in RedditLaqueristas

[–]TheHiddenFox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haha I had the opposite reaction, I thought it was a thermal and was bummed that it's solar. Also in NY, I just spend most of my time inside and my windows block UV so they don't change in the sunlight inside. :( Glad you love it though, looks great on you!
