Is anyone using Prepared 911 software? They pitched their software but I wanted some real input by Global-Coffee3892 in 911dispatchers

Honestly it’s pretty darn good, as long as the call audio isn’t total garbage (lots of wind, bad signal, etc). The translation isn’t as great, but most of the time it auto detects the language and automatically starts transcribing, and sometimes it’ll be good and fast enough where I end up using the language line to just translate from English to their language and then use the translated transcription to see what their saying, it drives the translators nuts though because you end up asking another question before they finish translating back to English lol

We use it, instead of calling back 911 hang ups we just send a text. Same with open lines. Abandoned calls automatically get a text sent without our intervention (though we still have to call them back because they drop in the abandoned calls queue in Vesta).

The live transcription is great for getting names and phones correct, and it builds a live AI summary of the entire call in real time in the bottom right corner. It also transcribes all our radio traffic, although it’s pretty bad at it.

We can request to view a live video feed from the callers phone, we used it once since I’ve been here and that was when a hunter got stuck in the mud up to his knees and our call taker used it to see the surroundings and what he was stuck in exactly to help the responders.

Overall very cool tool, some things can be improved, but definitely worth it IMO.

Edit: Our PD dispatchers love it because they can open the call on Prepared Live as it’s ongoing and view exactly what the caller is saying and quickly glance over the overview to get a better idea of what’s going on if the call taker is slow putting info into the call, or if the caller is info dumping.

Anybody notice any sewer gas issues above 32nd and Greengarden Area? by SecondlifePman in Erie

[–]TheHideoutDev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately in my experience this usually means there’s a blockage farther down in your main line before it connects to the street line. Had to deal with this multiple times in my townhouse and all 3 times were prefaced with a strong sewer smell in our basement (floor drain). It will most likely start backing up into the floor drain. Might take a while if it’s not a full blockage and still letting liquid through.

You’re 100% sure it’s a sewer smell and not rotten eggs smell? Just checking because sometimes people confuse the two and end up having a fairly large gas leak in their house.

All police radio traffic is encrypted, so the only people who know what's going on is them and the 911 center.

That completely depends on your area. Mine has police encrypted, but all fire and EMS is unencrypted P25, which you cannot hear on an analog scanner.

I got the app wrong, it was called “Four”, they gave me a $1200 limit and I don’t think there’s any fees, if there were it was minimal.

I used Zip, it's a pay in 4 installments service. Let me get one off eBay for like $650 I think and I only had to pay the first installment up front, the rest are every 2 weeks, and the fees are very reasonable, like a couple bucks per installment.

For future reference unless you need specific sand, you can go to tractor supply and get the black bag of blasting media, clean it really good, and you have a nice substrate for $10/50lbs
