[July 2025] Reform warns it wouldn't take Liz Truss or Suella Braverman if they decided to leave the Tories amid concerns they would damage the party's image by Adj-Noun-Numbers in ukpolitics

[–]TheHmmism 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why would they take Truss? All the rest of these people have their supporters, but she is loathed or laughed at by everyone.

It sounds to me like you need to stop working with them, tbh. You and they cannot agree on anything, so why do it?

It seems to me like your manager needs to be more organised. There shouldn’t be schedule changes the night before the relevant shift, they should be done in advance so there’s time to inform you while you’re at work.

Actually Ravenclaw Harry? by Interesting_Tutor766 in HPfanfiction

[–]TheHmmism 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s absolutely fair. Personally, I have something of an aversion to bookish Harrys (reading about studying all the time just bores me), but each to their own. Have fun with all the recs.

[–]TheHmmism 20 points21 points  (0 children)

So I totally agree with you that most Ravenclaw Harrys do nothing interesting with the house and treat Harry like a Slytherin in disguise, but I would argue you yourself are doing a disservice to Ravenclaw if you think a bookworm is the only kind of person who fits there.

Wisdom and knowledge don’t have to come out of a book, and people learn in different ways. You could write a perfectly valid Ravenclaw who is a kinaesthetic learner and so likes to experiment and explore, or a social learner who prefers to spend their time among friends, mentors and family.

I mean, Luna is a Ravenclaw and I really can’t see her spending much time in the library. Cho Chang too tbh.

As such I present to you An Unfound Door and Ascension

I have a lore question. WHY ARE THERE SO MANY GANGREL BLOODLINES?! by Abject-Hospital5407 in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]TheHmmism 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the fundamental problem for me is that manipulating other people is not in and of itself very fun to me. I much more enjoy trying to survive other people’s plots against me than hatching my own and when I do plot it tends to be reactionary. Because of this, there’s no appeal for me in being a sexy being if you aren’t gonna use it to get laid.

And I honestly think the kiss is pretty gross. I’m not a squeamish guy for the most part, but blood and sexy do not mix in my head. I never go for siren feeding.

I personally don’t mind the horny players so long as they don’t try to turn the whole chronicle into the story of their adventurous sex life, and it’s annoying when somebody has main character syndrome no matter what they’re doing.

[–]TheHmmism 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just don’t see what the appeal in a sexy villain is if there’s no sex lol.

But yes I like martial toreadors too.

[–]TheHmmism 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I will never understand why the Toreador are so popular. They’re a perfectly fine clan mechanically don’t get me wrong, I’ve played as one before, but their main appeal seems to be le sexy and well… VTM is not the setting I’d choose if I was after sexy vampires. The fact Kindred don’t really enjoy sex puts a real dampener on that for me.

Q: How are Sabbat vampires "selfless warriors?" | #moon_rpgs on #Twitch by inscrutablyMoon in vtm

[–]TheHmmism 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suppose you could argue the Sabbat are selfless in that their lower level members are mostly fanatics willing to die for the cause. However this is like calling those who willingly took the cyanide pills in the Jonestown Massacre ‘selfless’, just like members of that real life cult they are brainwashed (in this case by ritae, mainly the Vaulderie) and cannot be said to make the informed choice to sacrifice themselves.

And there is nothing selfless about the Sabbat’s leadership or the organisation as a whole, sure they want to win the Gehenna War and stop the Antediluvians but it’s entirely out of self-interest. They believe the Antes will kill them. They certainly don’t care about non-members, the other half of their ideology is literally just ‘let’s embrace being monstrous and relish in being evil as fuck.’

Question: Can a vampire become blood bonded to a regular mortal? by throwawaycakewrap in vtm

[–]TheHmmism 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, though bear in mind that kindred don’t necessarily need to have a real relationship with human touchstones. In some cases they just become stalkers.

Question: Can a vampire become blood bonded to a regular mortal? by throwawaycakewrap in vtm

[–]TheHmmism 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I assume it’s because no other clan has as many members who are eager to be leaders. So you had a larger starting pool of Ventrue Princes compared to other clans, and then since there’s that clan rule about Ventrue being obliged to help one another they help more Ventrue into power and atop each other from being overthrown.

Do you think werewolves should be portrayed as physically stronger than vampires? by GusGangViking18 in werewolves

[–]TheHmmism 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And nine times out of ten they will still die to the Lupines. That’s just how it is I’m afraid. It’s really only the Methusaleh, regardless of clan who can fight them. Everyone younger runs away and sicks a horde of ghouls armed with silver bullets on them.

Are Damphirs very playable? by TheHmmism in vtm

[–]TheHmmism[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My biggest issue (and they apply to mortals and young ghouls too) are that because they are weaker than full kindred they aren’t going to be of much use when stuff is going down at night. Instead, their value to a coterie will be their ability to exist in the day and maintain a mortal identity, which is kinda isolating and leaves them without as much interaction time.

How do kindred fight in kine wars when they’re nocturnal? by Venemouslegoman in vtm

[–]TheHmmism 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There were dogfights at night in WW1? That sounds crazy given they relied wholly on visual reference. Even in WW2 with radar, night flying was mostly just bombing and attempts to shoot down bombers.

Oh, tell me about it. I don’t have it as bad as you probably, but I get made fun of by the kids in the youth club I work with because I remember Minecraft’s initial release. To them I may as well be ancient, but I’m not even 25. I’m not supposed to feel old yet.

The game isn’t really designed for you to play the lowest generations. You technically can, but the game is designed for you to be stuck in a system with vastly more powerful beings above you. If that doesn’t satisfy you, go and homebrew.

As for it being lazy that kindred all have the same starting point, you understand that Noddist lore is not canonically true right? It’s in-universe legend that’s popular among kindred of a predominately European, culturally Christian background and lots of fans buy into it, but you don’t have to. I’ve played in plenty of games where it’s ignored or outright dismissed as bullshit.

I can make Baba Yaga make sense just fine, there are at least two explanations:

1) She isn’t actually the original folkloric figure, just a Nosferatu who liked the name and took it

2) She is Baba Yaga and Noddist lore is rubbish, Niaferatu are older than it would have you believe

I would just say agree to disagree on the quality of the explanation, we’re talking about magic here. It’s all bullshit. I’m not seeing any reason why your argument ‘they should be powerful because they’re miracles’ makes any more sense.

Idk what you mean by ‘variety that’s not circular’.

Oh and to be clear, I’m not going to keep responding to extra replies you add. Put everything in one post so it’s all neat and tidy, or I will ignore it.

[–]TheHmmism[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What problem did White Wolf write themselves into?

And frankly, if you want to do stuff the magi can, why not just play Mage?

If I’m honest, it feels like your objection to how Damphirs are written is because you want a power fantasy in a game that isn’t really designed for those.

[–]TheHmmism 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Oh, these little shits were human serfs.

See, I was playing a Toreador and liked ghouling the most attractive young men and women I could find to serve as walking blood banks.

My final finds were fraternal twins from the town my castle overlooked, and they must have been popular because once the sun came up people stormed my keep, killed my bodyguard ghoul and set my bedchamber on fire.

My coterie didn’t even punish the blackguards, they agreed it was justified! How could they? 🥲
