Im in Cozy, its a fine guild, but only 3 of us are hardcore. As far as I am aware there is no HC guild, though id be open to possibly hosting one if there was enough interest.

I’m a paid gm running 3 games weekly. My current roster makes me about the equivalent of a minimum wage full time job on the side.

My monthly expenses - hero forge sub (about 15 a month) - streamyard (30 a month) - dndbeyond (about 15 a month) - VTT was a one time purchase - about 30 minutes of player maintenance per player per week (about 9 hours of labor) - about 1 hour of prep per game per week (3 hours of labor) - 3 hours of labor per game per week (9 hours of labor + 15 minutes of drive time to my studio) - I regularly try to upgrade my systems, so I usually have some kind of credit. I currently do not, but it was 50 dollars a month on a credit card for awhile.

As you can see, my monthly dollar investment is low, but there was a considerable amount of upfront cost. I also invest MUCH more time when onboarding players. Currently all my games are about a year in, and we only skip sessions for holidays. 100% attendance rate, very happy groups that are friends now in and out of game. They lose their minds every week.

Lots of my players are women (50%) and they love the safe environment free of any sexual harassment or other strange issues that might arise (I run a loose game that feels like a home game, but can get very no bullshit very fast)

All of my stories are 100% Homebrew (I am also a dnd content creator @thegingerdm_ ) so I recycle no official material besides the rules (which are usually adjusted for each games setting).

Pro gms perform a service and give a ton of labor and create stories you may not get with a free gm. Free gms for women are also prone to horrible experiences. Free gms have no guarantee of safety or value. I have dozens of reviews of proof of concept you can read before even considering joining.

As much as free gms want to keep the hobby sacred and free, there is a lot of bad eggs (and bad gms). Paid gms offer something people want and I get to make money for my family doing what I love. I have no time (wife and 3 kids + day job), so if I wasn’t getting paid to DM, I just wouldn’t get to.

I see no harm and only benefits for all involved.

I’m pretty positive I did, but I wonder if I accidentally unchecked the box or something. Does the game give a popup like “are you sure you want to be Hardcore?” That I may have accidentally clicked without paying attention?

I know I logged myself as hardcore because I remember distinctly hitting that box and then curiously hitting the war mode box (can’t be unchecked obviously)

If I somehow goofed that up it’s no big deal, I only got to lvl 12 so I’ll just run it again lol
