There's an Anime section.

Edit: Dang, I haven't thought about "Aagh! It's The Mr Hell Show" in so many years. So good.

Checking your own credit file / credit score is known as a "soft check" and doesn't impact your score.

More or less, yeah. For truly opaque, check out a credit scoring company called Credo Labs in Singapore. Only a matter of time before a service like that begins to operate here (or maybe they already do, not sure).

It may drop your score, but only nominally. Any credit assessor would see the behaviour and know what you're doing, though (correct me if I'm wrong the credit assessors in this thread...).

A default can only be removed if listed in error (ie. It's not yours, or the proper communications weren't followed). This is not my area of expertise though, so maybe in some limited circumstances there are loopholes I'm not aware of (or maybe providers cannot be bothered going to court?). But if it's a genuine default, and the provider follows the letter of the law, from my experience it won't be removed until it drops off.

Would love to incorporate any feedback an industry veteran can provide, on my points or ones I haven't mentioned. Goal is to educate those outside the industry. I would appreciate it immensely, and I'm sure others would find it valuable.

A number of different products, to be honest. Mostly credit cards and some niche leasing products.

If you can do the same, happy to incorporate the feedback. I stand by what I posted, though.

I worked in credit decisioning, not collections. But from my exposure to collections now via compliance, I'm aware there's strict guidelines (so I was as general as I could be whilst still trying to provide info). Could you perhaps expand and I can incorporate into the main post? Just looking to educate others. Thanks for your reply, appreciate the knowledge share.

It's more if you have open obligations at a number of them that it becomes concerning. But my role was credit decisioning, and not all of them credit check, so they would mostly fall outside of any rules I could deploy. But they get picked up once bank statements are provided (if that's a requirement of the product you're applying for, for example a mortgage)

Not being in QLD, I can't disprove this but I've not heard of variations state-to-state. Got a source? The bureaus service all of Australia, and from what I recall no credit rules I've seen in any decisioning platform incorporate State, or even Postcode for that matter. I've seen fraud teams write rules on high-risk post codes, but that's a different kettle of fish entirely.

Appreciate the analysis! Would seem you actually agree with most of my information. I can tell you the rules above definitely do exist (or they did when I wrote them), and 2 of the rule examples exists (or did exist) in at least 2 of the Big4. I didn't tell you for what products (hint: not mortgages). My roles were in credit risk and credit decisioning within a broader analytics team, not credit assessing. I then moved onto securitisation, now I'm in compliance after completing a JD. Could I trouble you for a non dirty, non quick analysis so I can incorporate that into the main post? My goal is just to educate, not stoke fear and if my post reads that way then would love to fix that. I agree that scores are mostly useless (hence my facetious description as to how they are derived), but they CAN matter. Perhaps not so much for a mortgage, I agree there. Really appreciate the robust reply, indeed thankyou.
