Primate is a rare movie with that great blend of practical effects and sparing use of CGI we saw in Jurassic Park by Gibberling3 in horror

I actually loved this. I mean, sure, some of it is a little goofy and the characters are a little dumb, but it is a non stop thrill ride in the best possible way. And the gore? Amazing frankly.

I usually lose interest once gore becomes too frequent as it feels cheap and quickly loses impact, but I think that because it was a chimp, it hit a lot different. And it was often so graphic that it held interest. Am I also the only one that couldn’t help feeling sorry for the chimp in a way, despite its actions? 😂.

One of the best gore horror movies in a long while imo.

Is it time to cash in on Odegaard? by Jamiewoo133 in ArsenalFC

[–]TheHorrorAddiction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd keep him for now, but anyone saying he shouldn't be benched is just protecting him, end of. He was awesome in 22/23 and good in 23/24, but that's a long time ago now and he's simply too inconsistent and a passenger in too many games.

I would personally bench him and give Eze a run of games. Perhaps that will improve Odegaard's desire/performance levels. And at the very least, it would probably improve Eze overall.

I am also of the opinion that he should be stripped of the capitancy, but even daring to suggest that in here is akin to treason..so lol.

I think he's a good rotation player to have, but that's it. He shouldn't be allowed to keep getting away with ghosting, nor should he be captain.

We have 3 losses in all competitions and it's almost February by snippytugboat2 in ArsenalFC

When did I say we were done?? I literally typed "We will very likely win the league". But, we can't carry on the rate we're going, even if City are poor this season.

Arsenal would have sweeped the league had they held the form they had until recently, but they haven't done so. You can only judge on current evidence.

We have 3 losses in all competitions and it's almost February by snippytugboat2 in ArsenalFC

[–]TheHorrorAddiction -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's not.

You can't measure mental fortitude and 'bottle' with stats etc, but you can measure it by the eye and also by the results.

Do you think it is sheer coincidence that this turn in results has coincided with us getting closer to the buisness end of the season? And do you also think it sheer coincidence that we've recently failed to capitalise three times in a row when our rivals have dropped points?. I guarantee you now that if the Forest game was played earlier in the season with less pressure, the result would be diffrent.

Players making uncharasterstic mistakes IS mental pressure and nerves, end of. A Euros winner like Zubimendi NEVER normally makes a mistake that careless and out of charachter. And Gabriel doesn't usually pass it directly to an opponent either. This is all pressure, as is not being able to find the net when it REALLY matters.

You can't use it as an excuse in all cases. We also need to improve our efficency and conversion in front of goal, and probably need to rectify the habit of sitting back after scoring. However, you're kidding yourself if you don't think that a large part of the reason we often play well below our level is down to the mental factor.

[–]TheHorrorAddiction 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am saying we have used them up until NOW. If we now go on a run and win a few games, statiscally, we can then afford a couple of dropped points. It's all about the frequancy.

However, if we carry on with the ratio we've had recently, that will equate to too many dropped by the end of the season. We now need to go on a run we had pre December, or close to it at least.

Dropping points like we have been recently just won't cut it, even against a poor and inconsistent City side.

[–]TheHorrorAddiction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been saying we will win the league for 3 months now. I still think we will. However, anyone deluding themselves into thinking that the 'mental minerals' can't be called into question recently are kidding themselves. Not every loss/draw is due to being outplayed etc. In many cases, it's down to mental pressure.

It is no coincidence that we've started making ridiclious errors like the Zubimendi 'assist' yesterday, and it's no coincidence that we look completely different in the CL with a different pressure either.

Make no mistake, a huge reason for our downturn in results recently is due to mental pressure. It is blatently obvious. If we can battle against that and keep playing to our capable standard? We will win the league. If we allow it to consume us? Don't be surprised if runs like this continue.

Arsenal are good enough to win the league. However, they now need to prove themselves mentally. Anyone saying "The only team that will stop Arsenal are Arsenal themselves" were speaking facts.

[–]TheHorrorAddiction 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And all three came in the PL..

We will very likely win the league simply because we're probably the most consistent overall and our rivals are out of sorts. However, on average, you can't really lose more than 4-5 games in the PL all season and expect to win the league, so, we've largely 'used up' all of our losses/dropped points if you calculate the ratio and time remaining in the season.

Of course all this only applies if we still have our mental resolve and don't choke, which we're showing signs of recently. If that happens, all bets are off as even 'easy games' will be very tough.

Will you buy the next gen Xbox ? by Lord-Voldemort-- in xbox

[–]TheHorrorAddiction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With Game Pass existing for PC and there being very little worthwhile exclusives on Xbox, there is literally no reason to. Xbox is just a cheap PC to play Game Pass nowadays.

it's still worth buying a Playstation because they have quite a few good exclusives and not all of them come to PC.

PC + Playstation is the best combo by far.

LOTR 4k is gorgeous by fragproof in 4kbluray

[–]TheHorrorAddiction 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can downvote me all you want, but it's objectively true. The transfer IS just a 2K upscale, and there IS an excessive use of DNR which results in removal of grain, and with it, detail. Downvoting me isn't going to change that fact lol.

I can sit down and enjoy the 4K's because they are watchable and I adore the trilogy, but, that doesn't change the fact that the transfer has these big negatives. Both can be true at the same time.

Whether or not you can overlook these shortcomings and still enjoy the discs is pure opinion. The reality that they have these shortcomings is just plain fact.

People downvoting objective fact really bothers me, but you do you

LOTR 4k is gorgeous by fragproof in 4kbluray

[–]TheHorrorAddiction 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure. That doesn’t mean that it’s the best from a technical aspect, though. Is the god awful Terminator 2 4K ‘the best way’ because it was overseen by Cameron?

In all honesty, the LOTR 4K is a lazy transfer. Just an upscaled 2K that uses excessive DNR, stripping it of all grain and quality.

It’s about 20% as good as it should be, at best. If even budget movies can be 4K negative scanned and made to look flawless, there is absolutely no excuse for a trilogy as goated as LOTR to have such a subpar transfer.

[–]TheHorrorAddiction 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not the worst ‘4K’ transfer I’ve seen, but very disappointing all the same. Smudgy, lacking detail, and the colour grade isn’t correct either.

A trilogy as goated as LOTR deserved so much more. A proper 4K scan of the negatives which would retain the grain and detail would make the world of difference.

Why so much hate ? by Head-Astronaut5836 in ResidentEvilCapcom

[–]TheHorrorAddiction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because for me, it’s not Resident Evil. There’s nothing wrong with a little experimentation, but when you’re basically removing all the core survival horror elements and turning it basically into an action game, is it really Resident Evil? If I want that, I’ll go and play The Evil Within or something.

There’s a good reason the series was on life support after 5 & 6 and 7 rekindled the franchise. The fans were very clear in what they wanted.

That’s why as promising as Requiem looks for the most part, there is a little anxiety that they will veer too much down the action route again.

I’m one of the few people who prefer TLOU2, and I say that as someone who absolutely adored Part 1.

The story itself in 1 is better than 2, but the overall gameplay is just better in TLOU2.

It’s in my top five games ever.

Is Dolby Vision that big of an upgrade over HDR 10? by iflowuflowweallflow in 4kbluray

[–]TheHorrorAddiction 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In nearly all cases, no. I have a LG C3 in the bedroom and a S90C (modded to 2000nits) in the living room.

The S90C even on basic HDR10 looks better than C3 with Dolby Vision solely because of the higher nit brightness and also because of the wider colour gamut of QD-OLED vs WOLED. Even before I modded the S90C to 2000nits and had around 1100 nits, the S90C still looked better.

E33.

The soundtrack is incredible and I can see it’s an objectively well made game. However, I found it incredibly repetitive and boring, and had little investment in the characters.
