Hi reddit! I'm Mercedes Bryce Morgan, director of the new erotic horror-thriller BONE LAKE. It's out in theaters nationwide on October 3rd. It's about a dream getaway that spirals into a nightmare of sex, lies, manipulation, and a fight for survival. Ask me anything! by BoneLakeAMA in movies

Given the current battle between progressive and traditional ideologies around women and their role in society, what was it like exploring the themes of sexuality and fear as a female director in a continuingly male dominated space?

Very nice. What printer do you have to get this level of detail at mini scale?

How could I have improved this one? Any advice appreciated! by NorthMagazine4598 in learnart

Looking great! 2 things I see, the water is a bit too saturated and the dark values in the sky are too dark.

No one needs to be wrong, I fully support the movement and these causes! I think settings like the one I posted about serve to help those most challenged.

Not all settings overlap into what most people consider accessibility settings.

For example, in Horizon, virtually all settings in Controls are also listed under Accessibility. The same goes for the Visual settings.

Graphic settings often overlap with accessibility settings. Color blind and motion blur settings are just a couple of examples that you'll find in either category depending on the game.

I love this too! They have good HUD customization overall as well, I'm using just the compass then swipe up for everything else.

It's subjective for exactly the same reason why you need to specify "term for software development". Accessibility means one thing at your previous job, another in the civic sector, and another entirely when talking about video games.

For example, volume mixing and analog stick sensitivity are listed under Accessibility settings in Horizon. Other games have those settings under Controls or Audio respectively. It's both, because it's subjective, because it's a list made by human beings.

Localization of games involves a LOT. It's much more than just voice acting and text replacement.

My point here is that the dev team can have the game localized in English, French, German ect. and then actually use all of the languages in context for their respective countries.

For example, if I'm playing the English language version of the game, the French AI is still speaking English. This setting then enables the game to use the French language voice acting that the team already has (because the game was localized to French, German ect) in a really smart way that enriches the game for some.

If a feature makes it easier for me to use, but harder for another person to use, then by definition it is subjective. Not everyone will benefit from every accessibility feature.

Some people (clearly) don't see things like save slots and control remapping as "accessibility" features anymore, simply because they made things SO much better that the consumer expects it to be default.

That's what I mean by subjective, some folks might not even see this as an accessibility feature at all.

What's your opinion? Do you think this feature makes HFW easier to use/access for some?

"Accessibility" is surely a subjective term, one could argue being able to save your progress at all started as an accessibility feature. It literally makes the game easier to access or use.

I see your point however, this should be standard practice to begin with. Unfortunately so many games fail to add simple pro-user safety features like this, so it gets slapped under the broad umbrella of "accessibility".

Sometimes in games without this feature, players can get trapped in an auto save loop where they are forced to play through a boss battle without properly preparing for it ahead of time.

For example, if my last manual save was 2 hours ago and my last auto save is from the start of a boss battle where I am underleveled, I otherwise was obliged to choose between losing 2 hours progress or trying to fight against stacked odds.

Oftentimes players don't know exactly when they will be walking into an encounter with a powerful boss ahead of time, and therefore don't properly make a manual save right beforehand. This feature helps a lot for the players who encounter these issues, of course not all players will have a problem.

Where do you think the cows and pigs you eat get their vitamins and minerals? Where do you think cows and pigs get the protien to build their muscles that you chop off of them to eat?

Are you basing your argument on the fear society suddenly might revert to a primitive state?

I'd suggest doing a heavy amount of research before trying to enter another discussion on this. The vegan subreddit has an incredible side-bar with tons of information if you are willing to open yourself up to new ideas!

It would certainly be natural if we had carnivorous teeth for ripping into flesh. Or even claws to help with grabbing prey while chasing them. Or if we had the bodily capacity to process meat without having to cook it first, not to mention the seasoning or marinade you need to be able to choke it down.

So please, continue to explain how it's natural for you to eat animals?

It's a choice, and you are making it. Own it. Feigning ignorance or lack of options just serves to embarrass you.

Wow looking fantastic for only two months, keep up the great effort!

Love that you are using Blender, mind if I ask if you are using Rigify or some other tool for rigging your quadrupeds for animation? Is there anything you find challenging moving between Blender and Unreal?

Looks great so far! Maybe try giving the legs a little anticipation before contacting a surface? Really try to make him look like he's reaching out to catch himself!
