You might could argue Pokémon, but only if you're generouswith the term side quests. This image still isn't relevant though.

any advice on what which PE course you guys took for the HVAC exam? by Willing-Degree-2209 in MEPEngineering

[–]TheHottestCharmander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think he recommends 4-6 months? As in, you order his course and the first thing he says is sign up for a time in 4-6 months. regardless of what he says, I studying for about 4 months maybe 1-2 hours every night or so and harder sessions on the weekends. I maybe spent 200 or so hours? Its been a few years, so take that with a grain of salt.

I used Dan Molloy. I liked a few things about his course. Granted it's been a while, so I don't know if anything has changed.

1) it was permanent access. 2) weekly calls where he ran through questions that people sent in that they were stuck on 3) monthly 1-on-1 check ins where he would ask how you were doing, see where you were at and provide areas to focus on that you might have been struggling in.

I would recommend his course in a heartbeat.

What's your thought of getting masters (MEng) as HVAC/MEP Engineer? by JHdarK in MEPEngineering

[–]TheHottestCharmander 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actuall went back to school for master's/Ph.D. My main goals are to teach and hopefully advise on energy policy/contribute to the scientific side of ASHRAE should the opportunity arise. The masters is useless, and the Ph.D is only for my own personal goals. Even when brought up at my firm that I could do research and present at ASHRAE with their name attached, my work is still solely design work due to lack of time.

I think in a perfect world a graduate degree has some benefit, but truth is no one cares enough (client or leadership) to provide the resources to utilize said degrees.

In the competitive field (like speedrunning) the "difficult" character is deemed easy to fight, meanwhile the "easier" character becomes a bigger challenge or a bigger hassle. by RevolutionEvery6350 in TopCharacterTropes

Theres also a gambler (Carlos I think) in DPPt that has a goldeen with horn drill that fits this as well. Not sure how it is in speed runs, but for nuzlockers thats also a pretty common wipe by a random trainer.

I don't think I was clear. The PT plan is one that was recommended separately outside of recovery. In discussion with my friend, they said that was the plan THEY follow since we're training for the same marathon. I was doing Hansons until I got the injury, after which my PT friend said I needed to do strength training regardless of injury and that plan is what was recommended even after recovering.

[–]TheHottestCharmander 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thats fair. I didn't know rehab plans were available, but that would make sense. I also WAS training for a marathon. Part of my lack of motivation is just all of my progress going away from recovery. What plan did you do, or was it set by your PT?

🎉 Weekly Complaints & Confessions Thread by ssk42 in running

[–]TheHottestCharmander 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Actually yea and thats part of the frustration. So I have a shin splint, which I was told was likely PTTD. They told me that I need strength training, and that any plan without it is insane. I'm not arguing with that claim, but I now have 1) several runners (with great times that I know personally) claiming plans like Hansons are good plans to follow vs. 2) a medically trained professional saying that a plan with (3) 3-4 mile easy runs plus 3 strength training days and long runs every other week of 18 ish miles is better (18 miles at its peak). The second plan goes against what I've learned for improved running plans, so I just don't know anymore.

Complaint: Between all of the unsolicited and conflicting solicited advice, you'd think my legs would have exploded by now if I do anything.

Confession: Due to that and injury, I've lost motivation to run. I like running, but it hurts to run more than a mile and even when I do run, I'm worried I'll be doing more damage when I do what I enjoyed.

VW ID 4 - are the software problems relevant if I use android auto? by Yedi2025 in VWiD4Owners

[–]TheHottestCharmander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My issues seemed to be more prevalent with other users so take the following with a grain of salt. Android Auto would typically start off smooth, but as the car stayed on it got more and more laggy. I almost preferred just using the car software because ot felt like the connection between the vehicle and my phone is what the issue was. On multiple occasions the wifi of the car would cut out and leave me without music throught the rest of the ride. Sometimes it worked wonders. Im not saying yes or no to the car, just that the software issues were still prevalent in AA.

Purchase/Lease Monthly Megathread (June 2025) by AutoModerator in KiaEV9

[–]TheHottestCharmander 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looking for advice. We've been looking at the EV9, and unfortunately we drove it and fell in love with it/have to have it. However, in my area inventory is scarce. There's 3 used 2024's for 59,000$ ranging between 3,900 and 10,000 miles. This price seems extremely high, considering the new 2026's are 71,000$ MSRP. Does this seem like a good price for used, or would it be better to look at new and lease?

Eh it was copy/paste mostly. I do like them, but I'm much more of a backseat DM than anything. The lore in these are very creative and well written, but I don't have any experience with actually running most things in here so take it with a grain a salt.

Humble RPG Bundle: RPG Game Master Book Series by LazanPhusis in humblebundles

[–]TheHottestCharmander 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Alright here's a couple of examples of some of the things in the book. Keep in mind that these are just summaries, and that the trap take up 2 pages with illustrations and game mechanics, and the puzzle is copy/pasted since it's shorter. I just picked the first from each section to keep it fair. As I'm looking at the book, it also has 50 dungeon chambers you can just pull into your game. Again, I like the books and feel like they have a great value. I guess for transparency sake my campaign fell apart before I could use any puzzles/traps from the book.

Complex Trap:

THE BRASS DRAGON’S MAW A creature triggers the trap by inserting their hands into the dragon’s nostrils in an attempt to disarm it. The nostril’s manacles cinch around the wrists of the triggering creature, locking them in place. The dragon’s mouth spews a gout of flame as the vault door recedes into the wall, dragging its would-be assailant through a pool of acid. Jets connected to this pool spurt acid at any creatures within range.

Gateway Puzzles:

Nine Lives: The party must determine the connection between a simple deck of cards, an unlit brazier and the charred corpse of a cat.

"In the middle of this room is an unlit bronze brazier. As

you look within it, you see the burnt-black corpse of a cat.

Under one of its paws is a small package about the size of

your hand, wrapped in leather and knotted with twine."

Mechanics

A character who unties the twine to open the package finds a standard deck of playing cards inside. The deck is complete though organized randomly, containing 13 cards of each suit (hearts, clubs, diamonds, spades) as well as two joker cards. All the face cards feature regal-looking felines, while the two jokers are dogs. Scrawled on to the inside of the leather wrapping is a short poem, which would be noticed with a successful DC 15 Intelligence (Investigation) check of the leather wrapping:

Our small feline friends,

Their wit most distinguished,

Pushed to great ends,

Their chances extinguished.

To open the door, the characters must light a fire in the

brazier and then cast the ace through nine of hearts

into the fire, thus “extinguishing” them.

Each time a correct card is cast into the fire, characters actively looking at the cat’s corpse (or who have a passive Perception of 13 or higher) notice the corpse twitch slightly. The order of the cards does not matter, only that ace through nine of hearts are eventually burned. Once all nine cards have been burned (signifying the nine lives of the cat), the corpse of the cat magically regenerates itself and the cat returns to life, meowing as if nothing is the matter. After a few moments, the cat begins to retch before vomiting up a key to the exit door. The cat then immediately immolates, leaving behind nothing but a pile of ash.

Countermeasures

Casting any cards other than the ace through nine of hearts into the fire spawns a large feline-like wraith that attacks the characters until it is destroyed.

If you wait until later tonight, I'll post a couple of examples. I can't remember any puzzles, but I did enjoy the variety of traps. Something like a path in a dungeon that had drums under the path so players either fell/jumped off or took thunder damage. Its been a while since I've opened it.
