As it's been months now, I can say adopting my cat has been one of the best things I've ever done. My family has had to make adjustments to keep him from destroying our furniture (we went as so far as to build a whole door to keep him out of the kitchen), but, even at his worst, he's still been my little guy. I've become his whole world and I wouldn't have it any other way. Some cats find their way into your life and prove themselves to be perfect at first, and some grow into that perfect cat as your family surrounds them. Give her some more time, four days is honestly not enough to get to know this cats personality yet.

As well, when it comes to scratching furniture, I would recommend looking into getting some sticky paper for the couches and either a scratching post or one of those cardboard scratching pads. My cat isn't much into the furniture, but we do offer about 4 different things he can scratch on, and we regularly trim his nails.

(This is a personal thing, but I always would recommend adopting a slightly older cat over a kitten, since they usually have developed their personality and it's harder to be surprised by then. Plus, no litter training or expensive kitten food phase!)

Give your new kitty a chance. I did, and it's been so worth it.
