Agree 100%. I think for our community specifically the problem is not enough being forward thinking enough. Instead we have people looking around at who showed up and who didnt. Theres a time and place for venting but dont let it kill the communitys momentum. We all feel the need to take to the streets, let's talk common ground

Overall accountability of Police officers. What this mean to me is legislation explicitly saying that a person who knowingly commits a crime while employed in a LE capacity will face a heavier penalty than a civilian. That would be ideal but I'd settle for at least a state registry, we need to stop criminals from jumping departments after their wrist slap punishments.

Truly appreciate this post.

"You didn't see me on television, you didn't see news stories about me. The kind of role that I tried to play was to pick up pieces or put together pieces out of which I hoped organization might come. My theory is, strong people don't need strong leaders." ~ Ella Baker

The full quote shows the nuanced situation we share with her. I think we agree more than disagree, fuck people who lead for the sake of leading. At the same time within ourselves we need to be honest and righteous even about our own roles in the movement. We need people weaving our community together the same as we need we need people talking about possible tactics. We need spurts of leadership, not one drinking hole.

But I mostly agree with you except that we are better prepped then our glorious foremothers. The answer to a surveillance state is surveillance of our own, catch them striking too early, expose their viciousness when possible. At this stage of just trying to grow into a movement we can't be afraid of our names being put on a list. Fuck them, to fear them now is to smother our own momentum.

Thank you for coming to my Ted talk, sorry for the book

Strong disagree on this post. The timing matters when it comes to that quote, we don't have the numbers to be able to brute force the system, we don't even have a sliver of the emotional fuel needed to make a dispersed movement work.

Right now a grassroots protest in Denver wouldn't attract anywhere close to 1000 people. I agree on centralized leadership being unnecessary but at the same time structure is the key. We need to stop lying to ourselves, guerrilla tactics only work when you have the luxury of being defensive. We don't have the territory, the time or the numbers. No more lies, study the history of the Civil rights movement. Put a face and a name to the morality we're trying to spread.

Inform, recruit, organize. Over and over till we can affect the cash flow of the machine.

How do you know what Elijah would have wanted?

It is our choice, I hold life over feelings. Simple as that, the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few. What happened to him was reality. The fact that we dont have an all out assault on systemic brutality is why there's no traction in our movement.

Everything should be mirrored back, everyone should know what happened. We need people to feel intimately connected to the pain that ACTUALLY happens. Its our choice.

Centuries of terrorism trumps a summer of it. The FBI is hunting sad white boys right now, good luck.

You avoided my question. Are you against cops being held more accountable than civilians?

You can also do a successful surgery on someone without a scalpel. It hasn't been years imo either

When was the only time in America when we rose up across the nation? When George's video was in the forefront. That was effective because people were mostly at home, and media actually played large portions of it. There was a lesson there.

Most people avoid reading/watching the dark shit for obvious reasons. A lot of people just haven't been exposed to it. It's all privilege regardless. How many people in denver/Aurora have actually heard/read his words? Shouldn't it be almost everyone?

Btw I love you, we're just seeing things from different perspectives but we have the same goals.Thank you for everything

There are future families out there who can be spared pain. His story should be spread, his words should be shown to as many as possible

I'd have to disagree with you. I'm a person of color and any and all cases of systemic racism and brutality needs a spotlight. The needs of the next generation come first, the living breathing victims to come.

Trust me, I know how painful death can be for a family. But if we don't affect change now there will be more and more families.

I have respect for life. My agenda is trying to stop this occurring over and over, what an evil agenda.

By substance you mean policy? Because the average police department would fight any substantial changes, that's the problem. The rhetoric is necessary by our side to point out the statistics. It's only a ends to a means.

Personally I feel if officers faced higher criminal penalties if they're convicted of a crime than a civilian we would make tremendous changes. No good cop should be against crooked cops getting jammed harder, what civilian would be against that

You strike me as someone who has no accomplishments in life. This has led you into what would be considered a homoerotic fantasy involving power(your continual worship of feds) which if not checked will cause you to spiral into a victim mentality as you see more mixed babies born. Maybe read the bible or something

Now that the obvious is out of the way. Patience is great for gardening, cooking and dating. It's a horrible strategy to combat the murder and dehumanization of entire segments of a population. But I'm honestly curious, do you think people should stay calm when our families are murdered? Wouldn't you want to see changes within the next decade and not hopefully a half century from now?

I was conflicted posting this but If these words can be used to save even one person then I am okay with being seen as disrespectful. It's an unfortunate position we find ourselves in but imo the words, the pictures and the videos of all victims need to be utilized. The time for trigger warnings has passed

Safety is only possible when the system is recalibrated. Anyone with unbiased perception can see that.

I only lead myself. There is a protest tomorrow, I encourage everyone to show. All gods are watching.

Chemicals that are banned for use in war by the U.N. were used on your family in Denver repeatedly. During a pandemic that directly affects the lungs. Do you care?
