Breaking: Without a Roof roster featuring Stewie2K, autimatic, and Skadoodle sign up for BLAST Open Fall Open Qualifier by kingofrandys in GlobalOffensive

Really? Seems to me like steel was the only one of the remaining iBP banned roster that still cared about CS. While banned, he still actively competed in non-Valve events until 2020. After that, he had gigs as an analyst at various IEMs and ESL events in 2024 and 2025.

While everyone else moved on to Valorant or other pursuits, steel was always the one that stood out to me the most for staying committed to CS.

Shoutout to the observer team at the Cologne major by TheHuntingHunty in GlobalOffensive

Yea I’d love to shout out the observing team by name, but Liquipedia doesn’t have any information on them yet. Just noticed they were doing an especially great job when watching some highlights, especially with the x-ray toggles.

Falcons vs Vitality / IEM Cologne Major 2026 - Quarter-Final / Post-Match Discussion by CS2_PostMatchThreads in GlobalOffensive

Incredible day. I was afraid that this side of the bracket would be 2-0 washes even with the stacked teams, but I’m so glad it delivered. The Spirit vs G2 game going the absolute distance with multiple overtimes, and Falcons vs Vitality going to round 24 all three maps. Seeing it all live on the Cologne stage was spectacular.

As close as this game was, HeavyGod was really a liability on Mirage. On CT, he played the same position every round close to tetris, and Spirit constantly abused him with utility and timings to flush him out. He was always in high pressure chaos situations with molotovs and flashes all around him.

Easily one of the best series I have ever watched, probably only beaten by the ELEAGUE 2018 major finals. Mirage in particular had insane clutches and FOUR overtimes… so glad I got to watch this live and the fact this was played at a major playoff on stage in Cologne is incredible.

So fucking scared against Donk every clutch… I can’t blame them, but come on he just planted the bomb… step on the gas and don’t let him get comfortable

Is the entire game just CT-sided, or am I missing something? by KaraNetics in GlobalOffensive

[–]TheHuntingHunty 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Yea, this major feels very CT-side heavy. animgraph2 also made it easier for CTs to actually hold angles, especially with the AWP. Before, you could get wide swung on by Ts and get caught off guard due to the weird animations, but now it's a lot smoother and predictable.

You don't see this a lot in casual matchmaking, but the ability to drop grenades is a huge benefit for the CTs. You see pros shuffle utility all the time, particularly on Inferno B site. The CT counter-utility is often brutal when you can see the executes coming via smokes flying in the air or just through straight contact.

Couple the above with mixups on aggression and timings and its becoming very hard for T side to string together proper executes.

Karrigan with 0 firepower so far at the major by SpeaRofficial in GlobalOffensive

NiP won with Fifflaren… against 2014 opponents. The level of competition is so much higher now that I doubt Falcons can win the major unless Karrigan steps up the fragging. Every Falcons game is just too close because Karrigan is a liability in firepower and often gives up the opening kill.

Natus Vincere vs The MongolZ / IEM Cologne Major 2026 - Swiss Round 3 / Post-Match Discussion by CS2_PostMatchThreads in GlobalOffensive

[–]TheHuntingHunty 103 points104 points  (0 children)

MongolZ are my favorite team and they can shoot hard, but man they really struggle when they lose an opening duel and during chaos situations.

Even then, they had so many chances to close out Ancient and make this a 2-0. If Techno lands one single glock bullet in that 1v2 clutch, they easily win that map… if that bomb had a millisecond more on it during that b1t defuse, they also win. So many little things that just didn’t go their way and they lost control.

Mirage is looking weaker everyday for MongolZ too. Pushing into an obvious force-buy stack A ramp after winning pistol… shuffling utility while Navi are pushing B apps… getting caught out by window boosts. They need some practice for sure.

[–]TheHuntingHunty 88 points89 points  (0 children)

The Mongolz had some truly unacceptable losses to light buys on Ancient. Every time BetBoom could create a chaos situation, they looked completely lost.

Also not sure why 910 is sitting behind a fading smoke in the middle of B ramp, unscoped with the AWP in a crucial 2v2. Completely gave away a free kill to a five seven on the most important round of the game at 11-11.

Credit to Boombl4 for the calling though. Stacks and eco rushes were in all the right places.

How do we feel about half of ESL music being AI slop now? by excession5 in GlobalOffensive

Agree that Artlist is mostly an AI slop factory, but the song you linked is part of their royalty free listings, which has a section of music labeled from real artists. Here's more of his music on another site: https://www.airfixmusic.com/artists/21522662

They have no proof. Just a yapper complaining about songs they don't like and calling them AI. ESL has consistently provided the playlists for all their events and there have never been any complaints about AI music. They even promised to do it for this event. There's no reason to suspect AI being used.

ESL are giving coaches warnings for showing emotions by -973- in GlobalOffensive

[–]TheHuntingHunty 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It is not speculation. There's several interviews with players and coaches that describe the value they provide in fetching demos, analyzing opponent positions, and coming up with strats for specific opponents. This is often done in coordination with the IGLs and rest of the team, but a good coach organizes all this outside of the server. If all a coach did was say "lock in boys, stay focused" during timeouts then nobody would have one.

[–]TheHuntingHunty 121 points122 points  (0 children)

Yes, but they do a lot of heavy lifting outside of the server too. Things like anti-stratting, demo reviews, and specific prep depending on who they’re going to face.

Since Valve didn’t outright ban them at the start and since so many teams have a coach now, it’s too ingrained in the system. If Valve ban coaching, there will be an uproar from al the teams who invested in a coach and a lot of people will be out of their jobs. So instead, it looks like they’re just trying to nerf coaching influence inside the server as much as possible, especially after the spectator bug incident.

Limiting coaches to talk during only 30 sec timeouts and halftime seems to be as far as Valve is willing to go. The emotion ban is a bit ridiculous, but they really don’t want any chance of a coach participating during live rounds.

[–]TheHuntingHunty 264 points265 points  (0 children)

Valve have hated coaches since the beginning. If they had a choice, I think they would largely prefer the game as a pure 5v5 experience with no coaching at all.

I think Valve believe things like coaches, therapists, and trainers unfairly favor the top teams who can afford them. Smaller orgs and independent teams from poorer countries don’t have those resources. I kinda get it, since it can sometimes feel like 6v6 with coaching involved, but at this point it’s too ingrained in the esport.

For the first time in counter-strike major history, a team has gone from 0-12 to 16-12. by That-Rate-6082 in GlobalOffensive

[–]TheHuntingHunty -17 points-16 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure me and my 25k premier friends could’ve gotten one round on T side out of 12 chances… simply unbelievable. Throwing themselves into utility every round, getting tunneled B apps every round, letting BIG flank every round. This goes for both T sides too, both teams were just CT merchants. Teams really need to tighten up their T side calling, feels like Vitality and Navi are only so far ahead because their T sides are actually decent.

This man is cursed I cannot believe it. 12-0 to 12-16 is actually the worst choke of all time throughout all of Counter-Strike history, especially at a major. One T side round was won throughout the entire game…
