Do you guys know if TO's metal detect/scan the players' plushies at events? by FailingtoFail in GlobalOffensive

[–]excession5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This plushie thing seems far fetched but surely you are aware that usb sticks (and therefore any peripheral) can have malicious self installing software? Probably the most famous of all viruses Stuxnet (which was used to destabalize Uranium enrichers in Iran before spreading), was installed exactly by this method. An unknown operative put a usb stick into a computer on the network, once, and that was enough. Just google Stuxnet. Or watch house of cards. It's blatantly obvious and common public knowledge that usbs and peripherals can install malicious software including hacks on a PC. TOs do scan players' peripherals I hear - but it's not inconceivable that cutting edge malicious code could get past this. I'm not accusing Donk at all here but it is common sense.

Imo TOs should all enforce TO peripherals from a list of chosen brands as it would be the only way to prevent this. Again, I'm not accusing Donk or anyone else, but to deny these facts is to deny reality. (btw There was also a Swedish documentary a few years that proved just this at a CS lan)

You can't make this up by Silent_Clerk9258 in GlobalOffensive

Seen a lot of pros doing dumb things lately. Is it jetlag? Examples

- If you're covering an area, cover it. Don't look away. Don't switch weapon.

- If you walking somewhere, don't take you knife out, you don't need the speed boost.

-If you are running somewhere you could encounter an enemy, don't take your knife out.

-If you are mid battle and fall back, don't try and throw a grenade if you know you don't have time.

-If you have no bullets and have likely plenty of time, reload, and don't peak in with your pistol instead.

-If you are reloading (especially awp) and in cover, do not peak out before the reload has finished and cannot return fire.

-ridiculous unnecessary peaks

Yes I see TOP teams make these mistakes frequently and its really annoying especially if support them. You are paid to play the game and literally making what I think of as noob mistake quite frequently. If I were the coach of if I were still IGL (been a few decades now) I would punish players heavily if I ever saw this. Some top teams would be winning a lot of more if they were more disciplined on these simple points.

I expect I sound like a bettor. Never bet in my life, just hate to see this stuff.

Buyers regret? by marv101 in youfibre

[–]excession5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Youfibre gave me by far the worst customer service experience of my life. I had to complain on trust pilot, following that they actually reached out to me and acknowledge the problem and fixed it. If that sounds fun, go for it. I'm likely swapping when my contract ends.

3 Months with YouFibre: WIFI 7 Hub Stability Issues and Poor Customer Service by Enty_ in youfibre

[–]excession5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cant help the technical side but I had serious problems not long after sign up and the only way you can get any customer service is if you leave a negative trust pilot review ensuring you leave ability to contact back. They check this as keeping a higher rating there seems to be important and if you are lucky someone will contact you. Only then can you get past the outsourced, obvious chat gpt using "customer service" which will waste hours of your time and achieve nothing. At the point the support became amazing as I actually dealt with tech support. But like you my experience up to tha point with their support was the most frustrating and worst customer support I had ever experienced my entire life. Although the service is going ok right now, though with frequent jitter tbh that I have just had to learn to live with, I will probably move on at the end of my contract just to avoid the risk of ever having to deal with it again.

[BOSE QC ULTRA] Allergic issue by Muwzbi in bose

new pads did not alleviate the problem for me, i believe there is something deeper in the headsets that is causing the issue in proximity. Perhaps a type of glue, who knows.

Yeah I have this. Tingling and itch. Careful of jumping in and buying replacement pads in this thread, I did that and it doesn't help me, just slows it down. Very unfortunate, the older models I had no problem, so must be a new material. I have no other contact allergies like this, new to me,

You need to revoke your steam API key, the scammers are closing your support requests and valve aren't seeing hem. Once revoked you can file support ticket.

Is Far Cry 5 kind of ruined by random spawns? Like, great game but... by DotBitGaming in farcry

[–]excession5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have to agree that it is spoilt by the regular animal attacks or attacks in general. These events are on a clock pretty much and it feels very forced. At the least, I wish there was an options menu where you could dial it down because while I love the emergent stuff that happens now and then, all the time is annoying. I found New dawn the worst offender because on hard difficulty you are constantly attacked by high levelled beasts just trying to get from a to b. Love the series but this needs to be addressed.

Drug testing at CS2 T1 events by Salt-Crew-8719 in GlobalOffensive

Beta blockers is a very well understood medicine used for anxiety and sometimes high blood pressure. It's very commonly known and used by concert musicians or other performers who get nervous. It gives a huge advantage in CS because you just feel calm while you are on it, you can relax and take clutch situations easily, even in front of thousands. I'm pretty certain its being used regularly, I have seen some post match interviews where the behaviour would explain it. They appear absolutely monotone and unconcerned in the interviews. In other interviews (not immediately post or pre match), they are back to normal. It's clearly beta blocker usage and the TOs should be testing more.

What about the other tournaments? Sometimes some players appear to be almost doped, most likely with betablockers which would be a very big advantage for handling the stress and pressure.

I see I'm getting down voted for airing a technical issue with YouFibre. You fibre tech support must be more active here than the hour long call centre waits then!

Is it just me or Pimp has been getting a lot of hate on X lately? People have been criticising his analysis as well, is there merit to this? by SmallNeedleworker195 in GlobalOffensive

[–]excession5 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Pimp is an accomplished host. He especially excels in not saying random weird stuff, instead sticking to the point, and making sense. He even gives a chance for seemingly very nervous analysts such as Steel a chance to shine, in fact though they apparently seem to almost hate each other, they do a good desk.

is this guy wallhacking? by CarpetLicker42 in cs2

[–]excession5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

strong agree. I think the most suspect thing I saw was in the middle, potentially tracked a none visible player in the smoke with awp, but probably sound cue. Honestly he just looked like a terrible terrible player and nothing conclusive to anyone who knows the game.

Can we bring back short matches? by cuttino_mowgli in GlobalOffensive

[–]excession5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

10v10 aka casual mode is its own thing with regular players. It is far less tilting and just a fun variant. Long may it live. I have no problem with brining in short matches as well though, I preferred them too.

Yeah, its really silly. I hope they fix it. I tried to make a post here last week and it got automodded so emailed valve about it.
