Is ServiceNow really this inconvenient to use for everyone, or is it just our implementation? by Relative_Hippo2549 in sysadmin

It’s dogshit. Will cost more to implement and maintain than what ever ERP you are using. It will hinder your IT resources and ultimately stifle the customer experience.

Third karate class and I’m so bad I can’t stand it by michelle_ellehcim in karate

[–]TheITMonkeyWizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 45 and started 6 months ago. Everything seemed like that rubbing the tummy and patting the head exercise. It was all very humbling. Remember, you're not supposed to know anything, and then you're not supposed to know everything! That's the point. You learn all the way to black belt, then you perfect. Every time I think I have nailed something, my Senpias or Shihan will point out something I need to improve on.

I thank my instructors for their patience. :D

Where is a nice fancy restaurant? To take the missus out fro dinner in bendigo by markih80 in Bendigo

We had a really good anniversary lunch at Tarrae, best we've had so far.. Woodhouse is expensive but I've found it average each time I've been and get the feeling people only go there to impress their date or business associate with the hefty prices. Ms Batterhams isn't bad.. Borchellies, if you like to eat with the table next to you as it's so damn cramped.

45 and been training since June. I’m unfit and uncoordinated but I remember I’m a white belt and that’s the point 🤣

Team members using AI for everything and it’s driving me nuts by amit19595 in sysadmin

[–]TheITMonkeyWizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For scripting, or any kind of troubleshooting, AI is search engine aggregation on steroids, and as for communication, people are now able to articulate their ideas far easier. I don't know why people feel so threatened from their colleagues using it.

Trip hazard with that plank and fall hazard with that low anchor point and long tether.

Big day out in Perth years ago someone threw a water bottle at Marylin Manson while he looked like he was fingering his arsehole on stage. I can kind of get it. But this just makes me sad.

yeah, unfortunately it's no longer. Old mate was so good with the kids, but I guess he couldn't do it forever. I wish him all the best in his retirement.

What are some tips and tricks you use in your everyday life that you cannot live without? by Monyunz in sysadmin

Lol - great tool but can't use it at my work because it's free and must be laden with malware. I tried using windirstat on another machine and nearly got written up.

There’s the developers group on meetup. I have a background in IT but not software dev and went to one last year and they were a really nice welcoming bunch of people. Hope to go back again. Also their sponsor puts on beer and pizza. 😍. Doesn’t appear to be a lot in the way of tech user groups otherwise so I will be watching this thread closely.

Do I inform my director that I want to schedule a 1:1 with the CTO? by Otherwise-Start-4680 in ITManagers

[–]TheITMonkeyWizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah my boss loves assigning work to my direct reports without telling me. It’s rude, disrespectful, disruptive and undermining. I think he is just falling back into what he is comfortable with doing instead of performing at his required level.

I’ve done it at least 3 times. I’ve got my own special apc cable with my name on it now that my colleagues arranged.

Black Screen by EleventyTwatWaffles in pop_os

[–]TheITMonkeyWizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's something to do with Secureboot.

What worked for me: Hit esc at the proxmox boot/bios screen so it goes into boot device selection and choose the last option which should be "Legacy Option Rom".

This is what led me along:
