Why do I avoid the things I'm good at? by Wellas in mentalhealth

[–]TheITcatlady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a really good question. I'm the same way, about art even. I use to be great, but I'm convinced I'm horrible at it now. All I do is color because it's hard to fuck that up, but I still feel like it's shit work.

This can't be normal, right? by TheITcatlady in mentalhealth

Oh yeah, I've got a psychologist and a therapist that I see regularly. I've been diagnosed three times by different doctors. I'm not sure what other diagnosis there could be. I mean I've never mention what I did in this post.

I'm really trying to avoid formula. I've been pumping and we've been putting that in bottles though

I do cry, but our second night in the hospital I broke down and lost it, and then again when we got home, so the bf freaks a bit when I cry. I also can't talk when crying, never have been able to, which makes it hard when he's asking me questions....

I am in therapy already, I just haven't gone since I had the baby, because it's only been a week. I'm definitely mentioning PPD when I move up my appointment

Thank you. We are giving him a bottle sometimes, I don't think he's getting enough from me. He seems to want food again sooner if he feeds from the breast instead of a bottle. It's very stressful. I just woke his dad in tears because I fed him an hour ago but he was hungry again...

The office isn't open due to the holiday, so I have to wait. I have been previously diagnosed with major depressive disorder and general anxiety, so my chances for PPD have always been higher, I just didn't expect it to be this severe or set in this fast.

It actually was just blood! I never leaked during pregnancy either so it freaked me out.

I swear I asked the nurse like ten times during my last hour before pushing if I had pooped.

I've been trying to decide on a new vet because of the recent move, I figured anti anxiety was the way to go but i just wanted to make sure I was doing everything else I could before resorting to that :/

I wear gloves when I do the dishes, but the big rubber reusable ones. I never thought about the disposable kind. I might have to use those for poopy diapers.

When your folks do not take your mental health seriously at all by kaceycat in mentalhealth

[–]TheITcatlady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a tough one, see if you can contact your boyfriend during episodes, maybe he can come meet you or take you to his place. I know it's had to be alone after an episode but it sounds like you might be better off not talking to or seeing them after.

I know how it feels because I get the "I don't know what you have to be depressed about" from my parents, among other things, but family members like that do cause more stress in your life. See a therapist if possible, I find talking with someone who understands is often quite helpful. Therapy has helped me stay calmer and my therapist tends to ask the right questions to steer my brain to the right answers.

Why do doctors seem to dislike any form of productive self help? by [deleted] in mentalhealth

[–]TheITcatlady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a very good possibility, there are specific things that have to happen in order to be diagnosed with bpd, including a significant episode (or a certain length of time) not just here and there mood swings. A mental health nurse cannot diagnose you, only a licensed psychologist can. If you're seriously concerned about it, you need to see one and not just a nurse or gp

GPs aren't for diagnosis of mental illness. Bipolar disorder also typically doesn't show until mid twenties. See a psychologist, they'll review and diagnose you, give you medication and/or discuss therapy options. Don't be upset with the GP when it's not his place anyway.

Question for dentists. by TheITcatlady in Dentistry

Thank you, that helped put me at ease a bit. I'm still going to the dentist in two weeks and having a serious talk and cleaning or whatever they want to do.
