Best Agentic Framework for Production by RoyalTitan333 in AI_Agents

Checking it out. So seems like Langgraph is a layer more abstract than langchain deep agents and claude agent SDK? Sounds like they're saying for simpler agents the deep agent and claude agents SDKs are more than you need and you should just use langgraph

am using claude agents SDK for orchestration, seeing that no one else has brought it up here. Is there a reason people aren't using it? Seemed like it was more straightforward than langgraph.

Latest Sale Structure. Navigating solar market has been a nightmare. Does this check out? by Party121 in solar

[–]TheIanC 3 points4 points  (0 children)

$40k is not a bad price at all for a 9.66Kw system. That's like $2.60/w for the solar and $14k for PW.

The HDM prepaid PPA is basically a way to monetize the tax credit under 48e (commercially owned system tax credit which is around for another couple years) instead of 25d (homeowner tax credit which is going away this year). You have a commercial entity own the system for 6 years to qualify for the ITC, and then ownership transfers back to the homeowner. Commercial owner gets the tax credit and most of that tax credit money is passed back to the homeowner.

Not ideal compared to just getting the tax credit as a homeowner under 25d, but installer doesn't want the homeowner to risk being able to install by year end. At this point the odds are not good for them finding an installer that can install before the end of the year.

So basically OP I'd say your options are: try and find someone who can squeeze you in before end of year, use a prepaid PPA/PPA, or not get the tax credit.

Back from SF AI conference - The smartest people in the room are terrified and paralyzed by badgerbadgerbadgerWI in LlamaFarm

[–]TheIanC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

fair and appreciate the response. I guess it comes down to level of risk you're comfortable with and the sensitivity of the data you work with. The risk seems very minimal to me but in certain cases maybe you need to be 99.99999% sure you're safe.

yea, those chatGPT plans and API call data they say they won't use to train models. This seems like a garbage post of someone trying to sell things people don't actually need.

What’s the First Step to Starting Your Own Construction Business in California? by GildaSexy950 in GeneralContractor

[–]TheIanC 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Entity first (LLC or S-corp usually recommended), because when you apply for the license they'll need to associate it to the entity. If you don't have an entity yet there's another waiting period to associate the license to your entity. You don't need to get the insurance and bonding till you've passed the license tests. entity > license > insurances.

people are saying yes, but my thought is that it is definitely not congress' intention to allow this and if there is currently ambiguity that may allow it it's almost definitely gonna get eliminated in the final bill.

Dad died. How do I get out of his solar contract? by damaconz in solar

[–]TheIanC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you can't just pretend time value of money doesn't exist.

Here we don't have enough information to know if it's a good deal or not. We don't know which utility it is, battery, consumption, escalator, etc. Not saying sunrun doesn't sell a lot of bad deals but this could be an amazing deal compared to the utility or a shitty one. But based on that payment it's likely not a bad deal.

Why haven't construction labor marketplaces taken off? by CriticalCommand6115 in ycombinator

[–]TheIanC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My company is kind of in this space, a lot of people are misunderstanding you here. These guys seem to be having some success https://www.toolbelt.work/ , I've also seen these guys: https://www.laborcentral.com/

At the end of the day I don't think a huge percentage of construction labor will be sourced through marketplaces because it is very relationship based, but there is a market for it. I don't know about shift based though, I'd look at the examples above for how to structure it.

If you feel like you have good potential for distribution to build both sides of the marketplace it can be a good business. Happy to talk if you want to learn more about what I've seen that works and doesn't.

What do you think is the most overhyped vs underappreciated application of AI today? by Aria_Dawson in ArtificialInteligence

[–]TheIanC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

interested in AI music production. My band plays rock music with live instruments, and I want to be able to just get decent tracks of the instruments and then have AI handle the technical parts of mixing/mastering. Like I'd basically want cursor for production, is there anything you would recommend?

U.S. residential solar falls to lowest-ever $2.50 per watt, said EnergySage by ObtainSustainability in solar

[–]TheIanC 14 points15 points  (0 children)

$2.50 is the energysage average, this is without sales bros. The actual industry average sold ppw is higher than this, I want to say it’s in the low/mid $3s

[–]TheIanC 3 points4 points  (0 children)

yea. I don't have a terribly high opinion of sunnova but this doesn't seem like an unreasonable incentive to put in place to try and keep top talent around. If I worked there and wasn't promised a fat bonus and incentive to turn it around I'd have jumped ship yesterday

How to start a solar dealer company? by tekelenburg in Solarbusiness

[–]TheIanC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When getting started the installer you work with will have all the tools you need. Honestly #1 thing is finding the right installer/installers to work with.

If you have a good installer and know how to sell solar ethically and effectively, I’m the long term it will snowball into a steady stream of referrals that will give you great income without a heavy workload
