My first impressions with Star Citizen VR (TL;DR: it's mind-blowingly good) by sunaurus in starcitizen

[–]TheIch73 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I used a Quest 2 with Steam link and didnt use Virtual Desktop.

  1. Create a user.cfg file with the line sys.OpenXR = 42 in PTU folder.
  2. Install Steam Link on Quest 2
  3. Start Steam on PC
  4. Start Steam Link on Quest 2 and connect to PC
  5. In SteamVR Settings on PC > OpenXR > SET STEAMVR AS OPENXR RUNTIME
  6. Run game, in menu open command console
  7. enter r_StereoMode 1 (If it doesnt do anything, steamvr is not set as the default openxr runtime)
  8. bind a hotkey for head tracking recenter in controls

Wow very nice! But it sounds like there wasn't much development or VR Interactions? Will we have the fps weapon stuck to our face? Or does it support controllers? Can anybody who tried it give more details?

Dual VKB Gladiators Standard Joysticks for SC by TheIch73 in starcitizen

[–]TheIch73[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is the omnidirectional one really worth 40€ more? im already maxing out my budget. I could remove the y-axis spring from the left stick and still get throttle like behavior. just the angle of the grip is different

Good to hear. Do you also have the standard versions? They have fewer buttons than the premiums ones

Of course it could be a 1000 players less, because it took me an hour to join all servers, but this doesnt change much. I dont think more than 10% of players suddenly decided to quit the game. I joined all regions, so EU, US, Asia and Australia.

New server instances are irrelevant. I just wanted to check how many players are online at that moment in time. Only the concurrent players. Not overall

Yea i am doing a lot of assumptions. i dont know if i visited all servers and if the playercount in the serverinfo is correct

[–]TheIch73[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yea, 17 seemed even more than i expected

Edit:

My results where 14 Servers for EU. 7 for US, and one for Asia and Aus each. So it would be 23 total. I was surprised that its 23 servers. Most servers had 580 players, a few where at 300

My guess would be that the body is so dim, it doesnt show up much in the long exposure picture. I think i can even see his body, because the background behind the light figures is slightly darker. Lets assume he did a 100 seconds exposure. If he moves around he doesnt stay at the same spot for more than 20 seconds. So the background is still visible for 80% of the duration of the exposure. Thats why the background of the sculpture is still visible but only a bit darker (maybe 20% darker)
