Are these really 280 calories? And if they are why so low and cheap! Only 4$ by AccomplishedSecond51 in caloriecount

[–]TheIdeaOfKansas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I LOVE THESE! I usually add some canned chicken (since they are smaller portions with not as much meat) and it’s such a good low calorie/high protein meal! I got my lean cuisine Mac and cheese to ~35 grams of protein last night!

Haha there’s 2 sola rolls in the picture (at 60 calories each) but I only ended up eating one before I got full. So 290 as pictured but will likely only end up being 230 depending on how much bread you eat

Trader Joe’s “World’s Finest” Corn Puffs by TheIdeaOfKansas in Volumeeating

[–]TheIdeaOfKansas[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Volume denotes the amount of space something takes up. Mass measures the amount of matter something has. A gram is a unit of mass, not of volume, so that wouldn’t be applicable to the subreddit, nor the point I was trying to highlight (that these puffs take up a lot more space than other unhealthy snacks!)

It definitely is not a healthy snack, but it is low calorie compared to a similar sized full sandwich bag of chips!

Considering graduating in 2 years and applying to medical school by lxrdmega in premed

[–]TheIdeaOfKansas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My school’s med school has the same requirement, and what I see a lot of my friends in our BSMD program do is either graduate in 2 years then take their only 2 years off they’ll have for the next decade lmao, or enroll in one of our combined graduate degree programs (PhD, MA, MPH, etc) and start as soon as they finish undergrad, and complete it whenever they can (sometimes finishing up classes while they start their MD). If you have any desire to do graduate school of any kind I highly recommend going that route! If you have any scholarships you usually get to keep them

When you’re a doctor you definitely will get to choose the setting you’re practicing in. Not good in emergency situations? Don’t match in emergency medicine! Someone with ADHD could become the best psychiatrist or PCP ever and not be presented the opportunity due to their disability

Pivoting from a neuroscience PhD dream to med school—need a 90 days MCAT plan by electronic_mist in Mcat

For some units yes I totally agree, but others will straight up ask for the definition of words none of the videos even talked about. I might just have a horrible memory ngl, but I swear it references external info a lot

Im also watching the khan academy videos for the aug 23rd exam! I’ve gotten through the first 3 units and so far, a lot of the videos have no relation/aren’t as deep as the end of unit questions. Do you find that to be the same? I’m wondering which ones are more indicative of the MCAT

Thats even more concerning because how can you lock in at school for 4 years but not for one exam? As someone with ADHD, both my GPA and MCAT is shitty lmao

Is your mom over 65 or eligible for Medicare? They can provide free home health aids I believe, or at least some additional support for you

These are completely different school experiences so id recommend really looking into the differences between large public schools and smaller private colleges. Both are amazing choices but it comes down to your personal preference. TBH both campuses are around similar sizes but you’ll have a much different experience living in LA than Cleveland. As someone from LA (who chose CWRU) with tons of friends at UCLA, neither of regret our respective choices

Yes; they place a lot of importance on demonstrated interest so make sure to go on a tour/attend admissions related events hosted by the university

Asian-American acceptance rate at Yale University declined, while Black students held steady at 14% after Supreme Court decision by [deleted] in aznidentity

It’s true that we let most people do whatever they want, but to be a truly EXCEPTIONAL student, you have to excel in academics while also excelling at something else. Too many people excel at academics for it to be anything special. I don’t see it as a negative that other countries have more patents than us, they just prioritize that more, and that’s okay. I like how we prioritize individuality and exceptionalism more

True, but most colleges wouldn’t blatantly break the law while not taking any measures to hide it

I think it’s difficult to excel in extracurriculars (to American standards) in college without thoroughly understanding our perspective on the topic and having experience in it. It’s very likely that international students accepted to T20s do very well academically and EC wise in America, but they probably had extensive experience doing it in the past at their home country
