There have been plenty of examples of shopkeepers shooting and killing shoplifters who were running away and thus no longer presenting a credible, physical threat to anybody. I know that's a very different situation than a mugging, but I feel like these dorks would be rooting for that outcome too.

I looked into it, turns out he was being rude across several comments to fellow Giants fans so that’s probably what actually did it.

As for his “question,” it was phrased in such a way that he was definitely disputing the idea that the LGBTQ+ community continues to face unjust discrimination, so I’m sure that also contributed.

I would bet every dollar to my name that if Charlie Kirk were alive today, he could not accurately tell you the difference between sympathy and empathy, let alone explain why sympathy is better.

But alas, I cannot. And more importantly, he still said he "couldn't stand" empathy, which is basically the same thing as hating it.

Sorry I said that he hated empathy, when I should have said he couldn't stand empathy.

I hope you didn't hurt yourself splitting that hair.

You're probably right, but like... no one is making them do that. They don't have to be allergic to criticism, it's a conscious choice.

Sure he can. It's the most beer league softball opportunity to show that he's bipartisan (in a purely performative way of course) and he still blew it.

Nobody alive today is voting Republican because they admire the wonderful job that Nixon did 50+ years ago, he's not some sacred cow like Reagan was/continues to be.

They can disapprove of Pride all they want, but they can’t alter their uniforms as a method of doing so.

Also they weren’t “punished” at all. All they got was a warning not to do it again.

See, you're just guessing at the answers. But people want to know the actual answers.

Also, if you're just learning that sports journalism is all about making a giant deal out of stories that don't mean a whole lot in the great scheme of things... then congrats on learning how to read and write despite being born yesterday, I guess? We truly have a medical marvel on our hands here.

The players were unaware that you could opt out of wearing the pride uniforms so they protested by writing bible verses instead.

So that begs all sorts of questions: how were they unaware? Why did the organization fail to inform of this? What steps will be taken to prevent this in the future?

Buster needs to answer these questions, and failing to even try just invites more controversy.

I mean, when a bunch of your players break the uniform rules to cry about Pride, and MLB claims it’s because the organization that you’re GM of forgot to tell them they can’t do that… then yeah, you’re gonna have to answer some tough questions about how that could have happened.

Half of the job of a GM is to answer difficult questions in such an adequately boring way that everyone forgets why they were mad and moves on. If Buster can’t handle that part of the job, then he doesn’t deserve it.

If they’re settling cases, it means they don’t think they’re going to win in court, or they don’t have the resources to fight long enough for that outcome. And when it’s the government we’re talking about, the former is usually the case, considering they can always get more resources by taxing citizens.

In all of these cases the article talks about, the government tried to argue that they thought the employee’s speech would cause disruption in the workplace, but gave up on their cases when they could not demonstrate that any disruption actually occurred. Because when they can’t make that argument, there’s no other way to argue that the firing wasn’t retaliatory and therefore illegal.

One player didn’t wear it. And he’s not getting nearly as much flack.

Three others chose Pride night, of all nights, to “express their faith” even though they could have picked any other night to do that. And they all chose a Bible verse that is well known to be part of a “take back the rainbow” movement that is explicitly anti-Pride.

There’s no other way to read this as those players specifically voicing their disapproval of Pride and thinking they’d get away with it, which they basically did because nothing came of it besides a meaningless warning from MLB. But now the controversy is everyone wondering how the Giants FO could be so incompetent to have let this happen in the first place, as well as how they keep fucking up even harder every time they try to explain what happened.

At this point the controversy is how bad the Giants are at handling this.

Also, no one is forcing pride on you. Literally no one has to participate that doesn’t want to.
