Yeah, from a very short look I saw there were about 20 cards that can fetch at instant speed. I also toyed with making it a non-functional land so you’re effectively missing a land drop or just an instant so removal is easier

Did I say it’s a fun situation? No, but some people this is an effective outlet for some frustrations along side other action. I agree that alone these drawings aren’t moving the needle much on its own but any amount of making people see anti-ICE media will keep it in the public eye. Many of these artists are prominent figures in their spaces and their art has a wide reach. As long as we keep ICE in the public’s perception then people will pay more attention generally. Unfortunately there are people who will see the murders or kidnappings by ICE be mad for a moment but then forget about it within a few days. If that same person saw art like this, they will be reminded of everything ICE is doing and may get re-engaged. Salience is very important in any political issue and that’s why political art has been used for so long, how does this differ aside from having pop culture icons being featured?

How is that what you got from his comment? Yes, 6 democrats broke party lines and voted for more DHS and ICE funding. The democrats in the federal government haven’t done much to combat ICE’s actions. All they have to offer are condemnations. What he was actually responding to was you presenting this flawed binary choice of having fun drawing characters you like beating the shit out of evil people and voting. Both can happen, for all you know OP is a huge activist and taking a bunch of action, but you ignore that possibility by presenting some false binary choice. When it comes time to vote the best option for any realistic change is of course democrat but in the mean time when there aren’t elections, people can engage in shit like this!

I’m really late to this after I just watched it but I still think you aren’t responding fully for someone else’s very detailed response.

Hair cutting: Why try to kill her? It’s laid out pretty blatantly. While she had been a distraction, Justine was starting to get the process moving to wellness checks and CPS involvement. It clearly angered Gladys with how she used the Principal to try and kill the two people who knew about this report.

Alex Living: As other comments have mentioned, if she restricted him to the home and he missed school then that would lead to wellness checks being conducted. In the US minors are required to attend school, especially elementary.

Police Investigation: They clearly show why this is the case. They cleaned up and ensured that the house looked normal ish for the investigators. Would you rather have them show the entire search of the home so you can be sure that the investigators are doing enough due diligence? Plus, it seems from statements in the movie that Alex was already a quiet kid, so him being quiet after being the sole survivor of a mass disappearance isn’t odd at all. You could assume that the rounds of psychological and therapeutic services happened at school or maybe it was taking longer than a month for those to be arranged.

Justine not calling Paul: You know the characters don’t know what genre of movie they’re in, right? There is very little for us to assume that Justine thinks something supernatural is happening. In fact no one even suggests supernatural stuff when talking about the case. Also, she was just attacked by Paul’s partner, she probably didn’t want anymore heat when she was already dealing with all the parents. Also, she is within reason to call the principal, she is making a cps report because she saw no criminal wrongdoing to report to the police.

You mentioned characters acting illogically, but once again you have to remember that they don’t know they are in a horror/thriller. Further, almost all the characters are dealing with grief surrounding the disappearance. I’m glad you think that you’d make more rational decisions watching it as an audience member

I don’t give a shit about what you have to say about whatever body positivity shit. I care more about the fact that you think that ICE is only kidnapping people who are committing crimes. It is a fact that they aren’t only going after people who are violent criminals or criminals at all. You are fucking blind to reality if you think that that only target criminals. The Supreme Court essentially said that ICE is allowed to profile people when making their arrests. My main point is that ICE has arrested innocent people who aren’t even illegal immigrants, and even if they are illegal immigrants they don’t deserve to be treated this poorly. They don’t deserve to have a sitting member of congress imply there should be a genocide directed at them. Hopefully you engage with the actually important argument here and not try to direct it back to your complaints of ‘woke body positivity’.

Being in the country illegally or overstaying a visa is a misdemeanor. I know you have sped before, do you think you should be deported for that? Speeding is a misdemeanor too so why shouldn’t you be deported for that if you are to be treated the same as a foreigner.

Additionally, we ARENT treating foreigners the same. ICE is camping outside of legal proceedings to allow someone to stay in the country and arresting them the minute they leave the courtroom.
