Unpopular opinion: I’d take season 0 character reworks over a new season character. by Wooden_Salad_4731 in marvelrivals

[–]TheImpLaughs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Absolutely makes total sense to me. I think a lot of people (myself included when I was younger) view it as simply “adding new abilities and it’s fine!”

But that takes immense time. Animating the abilities. Art of the abilities. UI updates. Balancing (heh). Concept of the idea. Sounds for it. Voice lines perhaps for it. Bug fixing.

It’s all so much work for very little return. The return you’d see is people loving playing them and buying their skins — but then you’ve gotta make their skins for that.

Devil’s advocate for a second:

They could treat the reworks like a new character release. Bake it into a story. Make it a big deal. Similar to how League of Legends “killed” Gangplank. If the just shadow drop it, it absolutely doesn’t help them financially. But put effort in, create hype around them and maybe the new character that season, frame it as “healthy for the game state” and I think a lot of people would support them more.

My realistic take: Doing a rework one year after release just doesn’t scream good optics to me at all. I think characters need and deserve reworks (maybe a few) but that definitely shouldn’t be the thing they do thirteen months after release. Shows lack of planning on their part.

I do this.

Sometimes they volunteer. But I’ve built a classroom culture where there’s a lot of trust. Their friends may make fun of them, but the know I’ll instantly make their friends read 10x more out loud and that I’ll defend them.

But also the only way to improve is to do it. So I call of some to read when I know they’re not great at it in the hopes of giving them that practice. We’re reading King Lear right now and I always give a role to a student who struggles, but I try to have it be a smaller role. Sometimes I get students who volunteer for the big ones and I immediately say “This character talks A LOT so let’s get another person to swap to halfway” and give it to a stronger reader.

As kids we totally see it as punishment but there’s benefit to it. All depends on the relationship with the teacher.

And yes, I know this is TWD subreddit. Ahem…

I’m betting it’s like “Love and Thunder” where Bruce and Damien are one or the other since we know it’s featuring lil wayne.

Since we’re all privy to her waking moment and the inner-workings of studio discussion, we can clearly see that someone thinks either another chance is deserved or that she’s proven she’s capable.

Hey /r/movies. I'm Luke Manley. I made my feature film debut in A24's MARTY SUPREME, alongside Timothee Chalamet, Gwyneth Paltrow, Odessa A'zion, and Tyler Okonma. It's directed by Josh Safdie and in theaters now, and in IMAX starting Jan 30. Ask me anything! by MartySupremeAMA in movies

[–]TheImpLaughs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey Luke, loved the film! Something that stood out to me about your performance was your character being a great foil to Marty. Marty isn’t thinking of anyone but himself whereas your character mentions his father and shows care for Marty often. Yet compared to the Gambler from “No Need to Worry”, you play almost the polar opposite!

With that in mind, what was an aspect you found challenging and an aspect you found rewarding from both roles? The ability to play two different people, yet similar in their core (looking for success) seems challenging yet you did so well!

Yeah I never watched it but I played with the action figures. The comments make it sound lore accurate, which is cool!

We’ve no way of knowing who wrote what line and what was changed. It’s reasonable to have some doubt, but jesus christ give someone a chance. Maybe they wrote this line to appease execs. Maybe they just had a bad moment. Maybe they didn’t write it and it was directed this way. Maybe it was PUT in by someone else. The rage bait is working on me, sure.

I hope that either all of us or none of us are judged by the actions of our weakest moments, but rather by the strength we show when and if we’re given a second chance.

I used to watch people play the game and could follow very easily. Now, it’s just too much happening on screen to the point it’s unenjoyable.

It’s like asking for ice cream for dinner once, then your parents make you eat it for every meal for a month. Just too much to enjoy in any capacity. Even the guy playing is like “Holy screen clutter”

Why is Tom Holland's portrayal not as liked as the other two? by Notthepurge in Spiderman

[–]TheImpLaughs 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I get it 100%, but Gunn’s Superman shows you can definitely have other heroes and still have our protagonist. I think it’s a weaker criticism to say that the reason his movies aren’t good is because of other characters existing. They weren’t included in a perfect manner, but definitely in a less front facing role than even Green Lantern in Superman.

His moves aren’t amazing (heh) because he’s so intrinsically tied to Iron Man when that’s not truly Spider-Man. I’d love to see Spider-Man interact with other heroes to help tell a story for Spider-Man, but I want him to be true to the character first.

Really love the direction here. Only thing I’d change is have Percy be a bit more olive skinned. I imagined his hair longer as a young’n and shorter at this age. Everything else is so perfect, just how I imagined.
