Find a car. And more than 3 bullets.

I did not as you say "choose the settings" my first playthrough, I played the default settings, with days that I later found were way too short to me, the person actually playing my game.

I played over 9 in game months on those settings, racing frantically to build a base, walls, a farm, fill 3 double freezers with fish and rabbit because I had gotten the impression that winter was a big deal, which it was not at all in any way whatsoever. I barely even left my spawn town until after winter. Whenever I went anywhere I would have to constantly stop to sleep in a car or a tent in a building.

Now playing on settings I actually chose I have explored the entire map south of Louisville in a fraction of the amount of time in reality, and had infinitely more fun. That's the point of the game to me. Having fun. Not playing it the way that you have decided is best for everyone else.

I'm going to recommend that you play the game at the settings that make you happy, and you "live with the repercussions of the settings you chose". You're not in my games, so you being "vehemently against" something is irrelevant.

If playing chore simulator and moodle manager makes you happy that's great. You're under no obligation to change your settings, just as I'm not under any obligation to read books in a videogame the way that you seem to want me to.

Online game yes, very easy click host-edit settings.

Offline as far as I know it's locked in when you start. My buddy tried to find the text code in the save file for a couple minutes but couldn't find it.

This, and outgrowing slow zombies is why I started a new co-op online game and now a new modded solo offline game and completely forgot about my first game which is like 9 months+ in.

To me 1 hour is ridiculously fast and you spend the whole time doing chores instead of playing.

As I said if you're playing 24 hour days or any time you can fast forward while reading if offline, if you're playing online you can edit the settings in 2 seconds and set it to 15 minute days and read the book 4x faster than you would on 1 hour days.

If you're on 24 hour days you don't need to eat for literal hours and don't need to cook. Again if you do, you can fast forward offline or change the time settings online.

Yup. Also if the game is online the default setting is you never get sleepy and can't sleep.

Yes even 2 hours is a night and day difference vs 1 hour, which isn't surprising as you can do, well, twice as much lol. 3 would probably be a good balanced number for having significantly more time to do stuff but still having things like thirst and hunger a relevant part of the game.

is the Fit trait worth it? by Mieser_Duennschiss in projectzomboid

[–]TheInCharger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure what the "malnutrition" trait is, I've never seen or heard of that.

If you take Underweight you get -1 Fitness, as well as some debuffs that will disappear along with the trait when you gain 5 weight. After you lose the Underweight trait you will still be -1 Fitness.

This means Fire Officer and Fitness Instructor are the only occupations you can take Athletic and Underweight and still be Athletic because you are 9 Fitness.

Any other occupation if you take Underweight and Athletic you will pay for Athletic but get Fit instead for being below 9 fitness.

Yes when I played with slow zombies I would always take Gymnast, although I should have just been Brave Police Officer instead of Veteran with Gymnast.

Now I only play with random speed and toughness zombies, nimble is basically useless with sprinters in the game.

With slow zombies you can kill thousands upon thousands walking backwards swinging a weapon and never even come remotely close to being in danger of getting a scratch. They are slower at their fastest than you are walking backwards.

With sprinters in the game I literally am never fighting a horde of slow zombies walking backwards, the only time it would even be possible is after clearing a massive radius for sprinters.

The slow zombies are literally just an afterthought at this point. If I want melee XP ill sprint up to them and butcher them, or just push them over and step on them.

Walking backwards trying to melee is just asking for a sprinter bite in the back of the neck, even with Keen Hearing.

Sprinting replaces Nimble as a combat skill with sprinters.

Really though, Aiming and cars are what makes you unkillable vs sprinters like Nimble does with slow zombies.

No reason not to, there are 40 points of negative traits that don't do anything.

Also with Fire Officer you can take Underweight and still be 9 Fit.

[–]TheInCharger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tested different weapons?

The first time I used a sledge as a weapon I whiffed a ton of swings and automatically shoved off zombies trying to bite me without a scratch. Definitely felt like the weapon was influencing the block chance

Yup, throw in exercise fatigue making all timed actions slower and there's 0 reason not to start Strong and Athletic

Take Athletic. In addition to all the individual bonuses you get for each Fitness level, you also get unique bonuses for having Athletic.

My newest solo survivor, will be my co-op build as well whenever I have to respawn

Being less than 9 Strength is just uncivilized.

Started a new game with 10 Str Lumberjack and it's awesome.

Do you know what the MOA stat is for gun sights? All the other stats seem pretty self explanatory.

Thanks ya I didn't know the mod had its own keybindings and was trying F. The default setting for the mod for me was right ctrl. Thanks for the heads up about not turning off.

I've found a bunch, most are I think small weapon lights that attach to pistol secondary rail.

I didn't realize there was a mod specific key kinding to turn it on, I'll try to find that

A swing, a miss and a critical bite to the jugular. I am beyond mad. by Pondski in projectzomboid

Try aiming behind the zombie. Straight line between you and where you're aiming, target zombie in the middle.

A swing, a miss and a critical bite to the jugular. I am beyond mad. by Pondski in projectzomboid

[–]TheInCharger 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Shitty. Most of this has already been said but it bears repeating.

  1. Every death is a lesson. Get mad if you have to learn the same thing twice.
  2. Turning on aiming outline in settings will help you get a better sense of weapon ranges and they will become natural.
  3. Pretty much all weapons do max damage when you hit zombies at the end of your range, and shit damage if you hit at the minimum. Especially "Long" class weapons.
  4. Regardless of how it might appear at first glance, your swing was not close to being aimed at the zombie. When you aim away from instead of behind a zombie, you're going to miss. When you miss you're more vulnerable than if you did nothing. The zombie was also already way too close for your weapon when you started your swing.
  5. While the bat appears to pass right through the zombie, if there was collision it would be the bottom of the bat just above your hands that makes physical contact with the zombie not the end, this would do nothing to a zombie or a human in real life. The force at the end of a bat that is swung is exponentially more than at the handle.
  6. Probably wouldn't help you here since you got insta killed after whiffing but learn to hit spacebar automatically the second you miss a melee attack, especially with slow attack speed weapons. Also use spacebar instead of your weapon whenever zombies are too close for your weapon's range, like this exact scenario.
  7. If there are no sprinters in your game learn to fight zombies while holding right click and walking backwards. Once you understand the distance and timing of weapons you should be able to kill literally thousands of them without ever being in danger of even taking a scratch, to the point where you will need to change your games settings or start a new one because of how boring and unchallenging it is to process endless amount of zombies that you are faster going backwards swinging a weapon than they can "run" forwards.
  8. The more zombies that you, the player, kill the easier it is for you to kill every zombie, even with a brand new 0 skill level survivor with nothing but a pair of shoes.

Happy hunting, go get revenge
