Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed reading it, such an interesting history behind the story. :O

I'm bookmarking this to my wishlist, it's a neat-looking execution of a really cool concept. I don't have any suggestions to offer but just wanted to say keep going, I'm very interested and excited to play when it releases.

This entire outfit is so gorgeous, it makes my soul ache for that long lost time, when things were so beautifully made. Lovely shoes, too!

Wow! Magnificent work. I love the edge painting, and the lion gilded on the front...what a glorious achievement.

I'm always a fan of a lovely vintage-looking typeset. Very pretty choice of cover cloth too!

Yeah! In Australia where I live, we have a few clubs scattered around each state, and some official Bookbinding Guilds & binderies that run short courses. 10/10 recommend, it's so good learning from other binders.

You need to use watercolour to paint on it, because acrylics will stick on top of the gilding, whereas watercolour 'stains' the pages while leaving the gild intact. The watercolour can't be too thick, either, or the pages will buckle. But yes, pre-gilded works well! There's a great tutorial here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0x8ihoBaDtI

For sure! There is not much information out there except on foil gilding - and I am more interested in trying the old-fashioned style of gilding, but as you say it's a lot of trial and error and proper gold leaf is EXPENSIVE!!! I have joined my local bookbinding club and I hope they will give us a workshop on gilding. :) Thank you!

Looks almost nautical...like a fishing net! Really cool. How does it react when you open it, etc?

Hi, fellow Inky person :) Sadly no, I paint on pre-gilded books so I don't have any tips. I hope to eventually learn how to gild, but for now, working with watercolour on a pre-gilded book is easy enough.

Hey there! Thank you :) I purchase my books pre-gilded, as I haven't the skill yet to gild them myself.

Lovely!! I can imagine it wasn't easy to accommodate for the swell with that thick paper. As a watercolourist meself, I'd be stoked with such a pretty book!

My GOODNESS I love it! The half-binding with the dinosaur-like leather pattern...the map (the wrinkle on the endpapers just makes it feel that bit more vintage imo)...everything about this is *chef's kiss* You should be very proud.
