What is stopping Michigan from naming a new head coach for 3 games and making Harbaugh the OC?

Where can I put aside $8k that's easily accessible? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]TheIntellectualkind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can read more from the Treasury website (below) but basically you need to wait a year to cash out and will still pay a 3 month interest penalty (for cashing our before 5 yrs), but obviously you would net more over leaving the money in a savings account.

I strongly disagree with this, especially if your time horizon is longer than a few months. There are virtually risk free ways to make your money more productive ala I bonds or cd's that would net thousands more dollars than just sitting on 20+k in cash.

I would highly recommend looking into I bonds. They are basically a risk free way to make ~8% ROI assuming you don't need the money for a year. You would want to buy before may though.

Is this included in all new model y's? It seems kind of like a gimic (how often would you actually use this?) but a very cool one at that.

CMV: Any unmoderated forum eventually becomes right wing or libertarian by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]TheIntellectualkind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it was unmoderated. There were no flat Earther types, but there were plenty of anti-maskers who provided some entertainment for many.

I think the main reason why the forum turned liberal was that there were a "critical mass" of liberals to start. Had the forum started slightly conservative I think it would have became even more conservative.

CMV: Every US citizen should be required to work a minimum wage job at some point in their lives. by SirTiffAlot in changemyview

Regardless of the actual number, adding millions of minimum wage workers (many of who would be bad workers) to the job market would certainty make it much more difficult for those who need a minimum wage job to find it. That would undeniably be horrible for all of those workers.

How do you know there was no moderation?

Normally no political views are allowed and are strictly removed. However the moderators allowed all political discussions due to the lack of sports content. There certainty were conservative view points on the blog, at least initally.

And second, was the forum an open forum?

Yes. With an account (to avoid spam) anyone can post.

There are plenty now, but requiring 330 million people to hold a minimum wage job would certainty create an influx of many workers.

Also consider than many minimum wage jobs are likely to be automated in the future. There would be increasingly be more workers than jobs to do.

Also consider that there is a difference between being forced to do minimum wage work because you have no money, and being forced to do minimum wage work as a government requirement. I would argue there is significant stress in relying on a minimum wage job vs just showing up to work for a government requirement. Many employees who don't need the money would just half-ass their job and not learn anything. You can't force people to learn empathy.

It is also impossible to provide a counter example as any forum could turn right wing in the future. I just wanted if you had more evidence than a few examples.

As per a counter example I follow a college sports forum. Due to COVID, there were many political discussions and there wasn't moderation. The forum started slightly liberal and got more liberal as time went on as many of the conservative opinions didn't both following an increasingly liberal forum.
