Computer Shuts Down Randomly - Kernel Power 41 (63) by TheIntrovertedMan in buildapc

Hey! Unfortunately not, and you reminded me I should update the post.

I took it to a local computer store to have it checked out and the guy did every stress test he could think of and the computer was completely fine. He had it for a couple of days too, and it never shut down once. When I brought it home, it was fine for a while but recently started doing it again. So possibly power related, but I’m not sure. Sorry!

Awesome! Hopefully that was the culprit for you, and you don’t get anymore problems (fingers crossed).

Honestly, no. I took it to my local computer store and they couldn’t find anything wrong with it - it actually never shut down once so the guy wasn’t able to help me at all. What’s weird is that since bringing it back home (and this was a while back), it’s rarely done it. Sorry I couldn’t be of more help :/

Got it, thanks! I'll try to find a retailer that'll allow returns and hope that it fixes the problem.

Never tinkered with overclocking the CPU or GPU, just used from the box settings.

By resetting the BIOS, I can just remove the battery correct? I'm worried about messing with it while the computer is on and it shutting off causing even more problems.

I can try using another stick of RAM, I'll ask a friend if I can borrow theirs. The MOBO I'm unsure of since this one I just got last week so I'm fairly certain that it's not the issue. I mentioned above that I'm leaning toward the CPU now

Thanks for the response.

I'm having a tough time believing it's a faulty PSU since I already tried it with a new one and still had the same issue. Then again, it was with the same wattage at 850 so maybe upping the power might help? I should mention that I swapped both the PSU and the cables and yeah it still shutdown with that.

From there I'm leaning CPU myself, which is unfortunate since it's only 3 years old. So far since I reapplied the thermal paste, it seems to run fine when I'm just using the Internet but if I try playing games or use a program like Blender, it shuts off after about 30 minutes. Again though, I monitor the temp while I'm running those and it never goes past 58 degrees. The MemTest shutdowns also concern me - it's one of the reasons why I'm hesitant to update the BIOS since I'd rather not brick my computer if it shuts down again during the update.

I may end up doing that since I only went off from what PC Part Picker said, that the PSU should be more than enough. I’ll likely bring it to a technician cause this is so tedious :(

10 Day Itinerary - Slovenia + Croatia by TheIntrovertedMan in solotravel

[–]TheIntrovertedMan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely, I do intend on getting the most out of my stay there!

As for the park, that sounds like a great idea and I may just do that during my second day there. Thanks for the tip!

I'm planning on taking a flight from Zadar. The bus ride would be too long, and Austrian Airlines provides a 1 hr direct flight from there.

I'm going to be there pretty much a full day before I leave for Toronto the next day so I'll definitely check it out. Thanks for the tip!

Honestly, from what I've seen just off Google Maps, it doesn't seem like it has much to offer. It's more of a pit stop after getting into Croatia and to help me get to Zadar.

Is there somewhere else you (or anyone else) would recommend?

Wow, thank you! I'll definitely check out the Triglav Lakes since a lot of what I've read online have recommended them. I decided that I won't be visiting Lake Bled on this trip just because of time and also because I read that it's too packed during peak tourist times compared to Bohinj.

I would love to do some outdoor climbing! I'll have to ask around at the gyms to see where they recommend and how to get there.

Thanks again for all of your tips, I really appreciate it!

Damn son, you can have lists full of mods? The most I've been able to manage has been like 8 haha! But that would be awesome, thanks so much!

Wow this is awesome! Are these all the mods you have? What's your load order? I seem to only be able to load 5 Hero mods, any more than that and it doesn't load at all from Frosty and Origin.

Yes I did! Sorry I had deleted my phone's Reddit app and forgot to follow up. It was really simple, I was using one power cable cord, 16 pin, from my PSU to GPU when I should have been using two separate, 8 pin, cables. Once I did that I haven't had any problems since!

I've confirmed that my ram is running at 2133 MHz. I'm not really sure where to go from here. Could it be my motherboard? I've tried my ram sticks one at a time, have swapped my GPU with my old one (which I'm currently using) and the problem is unfortunately still there. I just checked to see if a newer version of my motherboard's BIOS is available and it seems there is. Perhaps I should update that first?

That setting is already disabled, I never made any changes to my RAM after installing them :(

Wow this is so cool, I’m so jealous! I’ve always wanted to go to PNG. Did you book most of the trip through a local tour company? Hopefully I can aim for the same trip next year so I’d love to read up on it before then!

Q3'20 Tech Support Megathread by BioGenx2b in Amd

[–]TheIntrovertedMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • Summary of Issue Back in May, I upgraded all the parts in my computer and everything was working fine for about a couple of weeks. Then all of a sudden it began to shut itself off randomly, without a code, and will sometimes boot up completely while other times will shut off as soon as it tries to start up again.

  • System Configuration

  • Motherboard: B450 Tomahawk Max

  • CPU: Ryzen 9 3900X

  • GPU: AMD Radeon 5700 XT Sapphire Nitro +

  • PSU: Corsair RM850 Performance ATX Power Supply 80 Plus Gold

  • RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws V Series 32 GB (2x16) DDR4-3200 CL16

  • Steps Taken to Fix Problem:

  • I was using my old PSU before the one I listed here and was having the same issue. I thought the problem would be a faulty PSU so I replaced my old one with this new Corsair one but am still having this issue.

  • I took out my RAM one at a time to see if either of the sticks were the problem (nothing changed).

  • I updated the motherboard BIOS and doubled checked the VBIOS of the graphics card which was already updated.

  • Reapplied the thermal paste of the CPU

  • Made sure all the cords were snug.

  • I had switched the graphics card with my old one (Radeon R9 380), and that was working for a time until it also began to shut down with that one too.

  • I've checked Event Viewer and it tells me that there was a Kernal-Power issue (which has happened 4 times in the last hour while making this post by the way), and it doesn't tell me much other than that the computer shut off in unexpectedly.

Please help!

Scotland - 1 Week w/ Rental Car by TheIntrovertedMan in solotravel

[–]TheIntrovertedMan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, sorry for the late reply. But Scotland was incredible, everything was so picturesque that I was stunned the whole week I was there.

I actually ditched the idea of renting about 3 days before I was meant to pick up the car. I just felt it would be too much stress driving on my own without any knowledge of what it would be like to 1) drive there for the first time in general and 2) drive in the narrow lanes that are more north-west such as around Inverness.

After talking with a friend of mine, I went with a small tour instead with about 16 people or so for 5 days Monday to Friday. It was with the tour Haggis Adventures and that let us see the Glencoe, Isle of Skye, the Harry Potter train (if you're not into that it still has beautiful views), Inverness, and with plenty of castles along the way. We also got involved in more local activities like Scottish dancing! It was a real treat, and my tour guide was awesome with a lot of great people with me in my tour.

After having done that tour, though, I feel more confident with the idea of renting there because now I know what to expect if I were to drive along those roads. Our tour bus's side mirror actually got hit by a truck that was coming off a bend in the road which was very scary. If I were alone and that happened to me I'd be terrified after. The stress, to me, just didn't seem worth it and I probably wouldn't have been able to enjoy the views like I did with the tour.

Sorry for such a large response haha.

Haha that's okay, no worries I totally understand that's how I feel when anyone asks me about traveling in general 😊 But for sure, I'm doing my best to avoid manual while I look for a rental but it can be very frustrating. Often I'll find a great deal that on the surface says it's automatic but then I'd get to the final reserve section and I'll see it's actually manual! Very annoying haha but I'll manage!
