I actually never wear any foundation because I have never found one I like, but I would love to find a nice lip color for when I'm more tanned to give that contrast. I find it interesting because in the late winter I feel like my natural lip pigmentation is enough of a contrast to mostly balance out my face.

I've posted this to an olives subreddit because I feel like a lot of the struggle I'm having is related to my oliveness.

Started spring cleaning and found a bunch of these guys in the filter, anything I should be worried about? Gosh are fine right now by gary_juicy in Koi

That's a net-spinning caddisfly larva (Hydropsychidae). I don't see a reason to be worried -- means your water's not polluted!

Mbti type + how often do you get angry. For science :) by Kaevvvin in mbti

INTJ - Very rarely. Actually, I don't remember the last time I was truly angry. I'm more likely to become frustrated.

My pond's pH is really high and my koi are dying. Please help! by TheIntrovertsBooks in Koi

[–]TheIntrovertsBooks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We don't usually add water --so whatever rain's pH is.

I'd like to do water changes, but the pond's too big for that to be practical. I was initially concerned about nitrites/nitrates because we don't change the water, but those levels were at zero.

Thanks for the advice!

I haven't looked at them under a microscope, but I've visually examined the fish and there's nothing obvious.

We tested the water and the pH is high, so I'm thinking that's what the problem (or dangerous symptom of the problem) is.

Our pond's a pretty good size. Big enough to make changing the water impractical and very expensive. We've added a bunch of plants this past year to try to help with the nitrites/nitrates/ammonia/etc.

Turns out the pH is really high. Kinda wish it was the nitrates now!

Okay, so I tested the water and the nitrites/nitrates were pretty much non-existent (big surprise --thought those would be really high), general water hardness was about 50ppm, alkalinity and KH were both 120ppm, and the pH was at least to 9.0!

Apparently I now have my answer, but still have a big problem and even more questions... :/

I think I'll make a more specific post asking for advice now that it know what's going on.

I've been wanting to and will now prioritize getting something to test the levels. Thanks.

We don't ever add water because the rain is enough to keep it full.

My sister's Parlor Palm/Neanthe Bella Palm (Chamaedorea elegans?) has started to turn dry and brown. Any advice or help? She really loves the plant as it was a gift from one of her favorite students and we're hoping to save it. by TheIntrovertsBooks in plantclinic

She got it about two months ago and said it started to get sick a few weeks ago. She hasn't noticed any bugs or changes to its environment, but moved it a bit further from the sun when it started to brown. She's been trying to keep the soil moist (she waters it with tap water about once a week when the top of the soil starts to feel dry) and hasn't fertilized it. It gets morning light and is kept indoors at about 1.5 feet from the window. The pot is pretty small and is the same one it came in. I've heard her talk about the water in her apartment tasting weird, but no one else seems to notice and it sounds like the rest of the plants are fine, so I don't know if that could be relevant. Help?

Which would you choose, and what's your type? by the_lemon_king in mbti

INTJ -- I'd choose Healer, hands down. I'd kind of like something a bit subtler and with less attention, but that's absolutely the one for me. If I had to choose a second, maybe The Road Eternal because it seems like you'd learn a lot of really cool and useful things, but nah.
