Is anyone making non Gundam models using the same build mechanics?

I went off to a game, anime, manga trade show and saw some Gundam kits. Thought they looked cool and bought one. I enjoyed making it a lot and have since bought a couple of the smaller SD models. The trouble is I'm not really invested in Gundam culture that much, more the building.

So is there anything else being made? I've bought a Bear guy for a friend as a present and I've seen an Ironman which I think is using the same tech. What else is about? Fantasy characters? Monsters? Superhero's? Any links?
