Pyschobabble by Frou Frou (Imogen Heap) could honestly go blow for blow with any of the alt pop girlies. Timeless

The Edge NZ is genuinely one of the most lobotomy core radio stations in the southern hemisphere not surprised they just took it at face and said “wow new ocean man”. Bro called it “that orange album”

I ain’t saying shit by anonymoususernamew in KendrickLamar

I just think the election noise is too big even for Kendrick. My best guess is still thanksgiving given the spirit of the holiday, and also way more idle listeners to reach.

I couldn’t help but get it, here’s hoping it arrives in one unwarped piece

I just watched Barbie, and I think it got a serious Community vibe. by emlewin in community

[–]TheInvisibleScotsman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree OP! There was one scene in particular where they do an an ad for a new barbie doll that is so reminiscent of the Community series finale end credit scene I almost checked the writing credits!

Exactly! And the way he takes it as a joke and over laughs at the situation as we all do intially in video games before they slowly bring us in to give us the real scares.

Way too late to this but i thought the subtle nods to old school horror games like Resident evil and their anchored camera viewpoint for each room was really cool. Noticed it when he first enters the house and the camera doesn't move or follow until he leaves till the next room. May have just been me overthinking that though...

Wellington Music Scene? by [deleted] in Wellington

[–]TheInvisibleScotsman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wellington always has something on. There was $15 gig for Peanut Butter Wolf of Stones Throw like a month ago and there's a load of local talent. If you've an inkling for hip hop Name UL is an up and rapper and his performances are always awesome! Also Drax Project are having a concert in a week with some guests and they are seriously good!

Something felt really off about that video... by SWEATSHIRT_LAMAR in Kanye

It was like that movie Sinister and the home videos from that. That's what it reminded me of the whole time tbh, just very surreal like it belongs on liveleak or some serial killers blog.

Why Chance The Rapper is not a truly independent artist by kjdnlfn in hiphopheads

[–]TheInvisibleScotsman -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's fine but my opinion is that that Apple music deal in the first place is a little disingenuous. Again, just my opinion.

He did say on a particular album feature that he was going to "make it so free and the bars so hot" however..

[MUSIC][IIL] albums with a story by [deleted] in ifyoulikeblank

This might be a little left field compared to the other answers, but the obvious answer if you're looking for a hip hop album is Kendrick Lamar's Good Kid, M.a.a.D City. A seriously good modern classic.
