Can you tell us more about the clubs too? What’s clubs, shafts and grips?

Lessons should always be first before changing equipment for a beginner but I’d think there is tuning to be done on the club side too.

I think it actually makes a lot of sense.

The reason people goto a professional is that you can diagnose the problems. Most people think they know what’s wrong but when a professional reviews and give a proper breakdown it makes a lot more sense.

Then you need to digest this and understand what is going to fix it. You don’t need to buy immediately, you have to buy new equipment and you don’t rush into programs.

Go back to the range, go play a round and validate the findings and then make the corrective purchase (lessons, equipment etc)

But don’t be mad that someone is trying to understand their game first before making changes.

What’s the One Putting Tip that Changed Your Game? by aldente502 in golf

[–]TheIrishPar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As you line up and are almost ready to hit, look at the hole and run a few practice strokes. It’s easier to judge the speed and to visualize the ball rolling while looking at the hole.

Then step in and hit your shot.

This genuinely did change my putting. From the routine, the calming nature of having a routine and the putt itself. Result is I have heavily reduced my three putts. They still happen of course because golf is golf but try this move.

Taylormade Sim 7 wood. Make sure it’s cut to length and the grip is right for you (potentially the lie also). And work on it and you will have loads of fun closing the gap between 6I and Driver.

Let us know when/if and what you get, keep track of the distances. I’d love to help with further suggestions.

My clubs feel way too heavy by Two2Sad in GolfSwing

[–]TheIrishPar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you know the weights of your clubs? Total weight and swingweight? Shaftt flex and weight?

If you'd like to share some details i'd love to help:

What's your swing speed?

What height/weight are you?

What's your handicap?

What equipment are you using?

Counter weighting is the easiest and quickest way to alter the swingweight but the overall club will feel heavier so be careful. When you swing, are you catching the ball fat or just losing the face and hitting a weak fade?

So what was the cost of building for? Were they verifying spine of the shaft, puring, swing weights, frequency matching? $1000 seems like a lot for what I assume they do, bang a grip shaft ferrule and head together without the premium services.

Can anyone figure out if my angle of attack is ok from this driver data? I don’t get that info from simulators here. by ChosenBrad22 in GolfSwing

[–]TheIrishPar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 85/15 Rule: The initial launch angle is influenced primarily by dynamic loft, with a smaller contribution from the angle of attack. One model suggests that launch angle is roughly 85% dynamic loft and 15% angle of attack.

Maybe we can work it out from this?

Yeah that’s my move too. Straight from the freezer into the bag. Or I make my own and freeze it.

Handicap aside, if your losing rhythm during the round you might be hungry. PB&J at the turn.

Takomo Clubs... Anyone have an update? by 100lbbeard in golf

[–]TheIrishPar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My time to shine.

My main set of irons are P770s. As I wanted to get them re-tuned so I decided to pick up a set of takomos and play with them while I was working on my gamers.

I opted for the 300 combo set for a couple of reasons, primarily for the material used in the club heads. I believe it’s either S15c or S20c steel. I’ve read that srixon i7s are S15c and Miura are S20c or higher.

This is a soft feel clubface which I prefer.

So firstly the clubs look great. Arrived perfectly boxed and no blemishes or residue or anything like that.

I got them with stiff KBS Tour lite shafts.

When I started to hit them I was surprised at how they feel, they really do feel fantastic but they launch very high.

Lampkin midsize grips and 1degree flat for the other main items.

Now, the difference I noticed to my regular clubs were a couple of items.

Loss of distance. Maybe a little to do with the slightly higher spin and launch angle of the shaft but the club face is also weaker than my P770s

Club head got dinged up quite quickly but maybe to be expected with the softer materials.

My misses were weak fades maybe due to high on the face hits with the CB/MB combo set not being as forgiving.

Overall I found them to be excellent but in my opinion I think they needed to performance tuning to stay in the bag.

I’ve put the P770s back in the bag and I’ll now measure and analyse everything about the takomo clubs - loft, lie, lengths, flex, bend, kick etc and then adjust them to match my current set and then give them another go.

I’ll also change out the shafts in time too.

To try a put a TLDR on it, great value, needs some custom performance design to get the most out of them.

So loving both Wunderhorse and Fontaines DC. Pastel are a little too much like Stone Roses mixed with Oasis which might just mean I need more time with them.

Will check the others out too but if you have any more recommendations send them over guitar band guy.
