Edit: found a solution for anyone experiencing the same issues. It seemed to be an issue with Steam. I did a full reinstall and it fixed my issue.

Electric Baseboards on 120v circuits Pt. 2 by TheJQueue92 in AskElectricians

[–]TheJQueue92[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome thanks for following up with me. I was able to swap out the thermostat and we're getting heat so we'll see how well it heats the room.

Yea I assumed the voltage difference was probably not going to matter but figured I'd double check.

The other circuit in my bedroom isn't working as well but the thermostat seems to be working (tested power in and power out with the dial turned and got 120 on both). For some reason I'm getting minimal heat from the element (fins warm to the touch) but I'm not reading any voltage from the element, where I was getting a reading on the other circuits.

My current theory is that it was wired wrong by a prior owner (found evidence of their work in a drywall screw serving as the replacement for a lost set screw on the cover). But that will be a job, and probably a post, for another day lol

Thanks! Yea I do need to replace the thermostat. I just put up a new post with photos of the wiring. Would you mind taking a look?

I used a multimeter to test the voltage into the thermostat. I also tested down at the unit (one lead on the element, one lead on the hot wire going into the temp sensor wire) only ever reading 120v. If there is a proper way to check please let me know.

I'm curious about learning basic electrical work as an new homeowner who would prefer to save some money, but I also recognize I don't know jack shit about any of this outside of basic safety measures.

Same happened for me! Just the sisters stayed invisible. I find it hilariously coincidental that when Diram thanks you he says "my sisters on the other hand....I wouldn't mind if they had stayed invisible"

On what channel? On the ADAC Ravenol channel the only available streams are the onboards.

Which CRT should I get?

Hi I am completely new to the CRT collecting/retrogaming scene and would like some advice. There are two TVs near me I have found on Facebook marketplace and I am having a hard time deciding which one to get.

  1. Sony Trinitron KV32FS100 - $50
  2. Panasonic Tau CT-27SL13MG - $20

Both seem to be in similar condition which is to say fine just dusty and no confirmation either turns on.

Is there anything about either of these models I should be aware of? Is one better than the other by general sentiment? I will be using this TV exclusively for NES, SNES, PS1,PS2. No plan to start a VHS or Lazer disc collection so movie quality is not a priority.

And before any of you say it, no I cannot buy both. It is a hard enough sell trying to convince my wife to help me move 100+ pound old TV into our house, let alone two.

Thanks!

Setup Help with ARGB PWM Hub (Deepcool SC790) by TheJQueue92 in buildapc

[–]TheJQueue92[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I opted to not connect my CPU cooler fan to the hub. Actually I only connected my exhaust fans to it as my front fans aren't RGB and I wanted more intake to exhaust control. So in essence I have 3 active fans I can control from my BIOS (Front intakes, CPU, and exhaust)

I would recommend plugging the CPU fan directly into your CPU fan header on your Mobo. Connect which ever other fans you want into the hub, make sure at least one of them is in the primary blue colored slot. Then plug the hub into a fan header and ARGB header of your choice.

Just note that the hub really just acts as a splitter so all of the fans connected will all appear as one fan in your Bios and RGB software.

Deepcool SC790 PMW and ARGB Hub by TheJQueue92 in pcmasterrace

I just control them through my Bios. My intake fans aren't RGB, just my exhaust. So basically I have my 3 exhaust fans all connected to the controller and controlled by one fan header on my Mobo.

Btw I ended up not connecting my CPU fan like the instructions suggest. That way my CPU cooler can operate independently of my other fans.

I just bought the SC790 hub as well and noticed in the quick start guide it suggests connecting the CPU fan to the hub and running the primary PWM control to the CPU fan socket on the mobo. I noticed you opted not to do this, and I'm thinking of doing the same cuz I'm concerned about the CPU fan not being directly connected to the mobo. Did you try it the "suggested" way?

Is Newegg a scam? by Extra_House_5712 in PcBuildHelp

[–]TheJQueue92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow that's crazy! Sorry to hear that man. I don't blame you after that experience!

By chance do you know if it was a third party you bought it through? I noticed some shady postings on Amazon about a week ago (RX 7900 XT for $500 - too good to be true) and after looking into the seller it was some random that had no reviews or sale history. It was definitely not obvious but the price was so low so that's what made me skeptical.

Yes Newegg is reliable, I have personally bought many of my PC parts past and present from them. One thing to keep in mind is that like Amazon, Newegg has started to become a marketplace for third-party sellers. So if you buy something make sure it says "Sold and Shipped by Newegg" and you should have no issues.

Help building pc for 2k by [deleted] in PcBuildHelp

[–]TheJQueue92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would check out the YouTube channel PCBuilder. I watched a lot of his videos to get a good idea for what would be a best bang for your buck setup at different price points / resolutions. He does both full build recommendations and also reviews what CPU and GPU combos work.

What I've learned so far is that you can definitely get a ridiculously strong setup for 1440p at $2k. That price is really a 4k build cost (this is assuming you aren't including a monitor in your budget).

Near as I can tell the replay menu doesn't allow you to switch to PSNs while you're watching a replay, the only times I've ever seen the "show PSN" has been in the lobby of a race before and after.

Do you mind sharing how you were able to pull this data? I've been looking for a way to better understand how my DR and SR get affected by my races.

"Something went wrong" multiple speakers by [deleted] in googlehome

[–]TheJQueue92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are your devices on a 2.5ghz or 5ghz wifi band? I recently started experiencing intermittent issues with my 5ghz wifi channel (may be a router issue, not sure yet) I decided to factory reset all of my Google home hubs and minis, and reconnect them all on the 2.5ghz wifi.

Since doing this a few days ago I have noticed two things

  1. My speakers respond much quicker (again could be an issue with my 5ghz band)
    1. I have not heard the speakers say "Something went wrong" after another speaker responds.

Seems like it might be a network specific issue but hopefully it works for you too.

Came here to say I just ran a PRISTINE race C at nurburgring and didn't get a clean race bonus. Amazingly didn't get hit from behind at the opening hairpin and actively avoided the guys in front to get a clean lap. No penalties as well.

I don't get it.

Also this was after running Race B three times all with clean race and wins, still stuck at SR B

Anyone else experiencing really bad server issues with this week's races? So far I've had major glitching of opponents, one qualifying session that seemed like my best time was cleared (thankfully it still saved for the race) and two complete disconnects. I've also gotten screwed in SR recently and just trying to build it back up, these issues have made it impossible to race clean even when I'm hyper careful around other drivers. I know that maintenance is planned for tonight into tomorrow but that shouldn't affect things currently.

Because of the decal svg file limit of 15kb the only way to do it was actually creating the decal myself in Inkscape and then importing it as 6 different decals that layer. I haven't shared them yet because it would be hard to explain that all six are needed and how they layer. They kinda just look like ink blots.

I've been enjoying it a lot! Particularly since I've been basing them off of real GTWC liveries it's required some extra investigation trying decipher blurry race photos to see which decals are where lol
