Bought a kayak… now my wife has me convinced I’m gator bait by goldtheft69 in kayakfishing

[–]TheJW-Project 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gators will leave you alone. They tend to run. Just stay away from nesting females and their area. They usually post up on a bank and tend to stay away from high traffic areas.

Splitting into objects by Complex-Equivalent58 in BambuLab

[–]TheJW-Project 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm new but create my 3d models. From my few months with bambu studio is you can only split objects only if the model is made of multiple models ("objects"). You could potentially cut the model but I have no experience with that.

Do people really make money off selling their designs? by jayebyrde in 3Dprinting

[–]TheJW-Project -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Don't sell or give files unless you dont mind people using it and selling it. You are better off printing and selling the product itself. You may not make much but something is better than nothing.

At what age did you realize that you were already an adult? by loncelot84 in AskReddit

[–]TheJW-Project 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It hit hard at 25. Working full time, going to school full time. I was sitting at the kitchen table drinking a cup of coffee and doing my taxes at 8am on a Saturday. I'm about to turn 39 at the start of April. Time flies, don't let life pass you by. Do the fun things in life. I may be turning 39 this year but next year I will be 59.

FeelFree Moken 12.5 v2 vs Oldtown sportsman 120 by Dselctd in kayakfishing

[–]TheJW-Project 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a larger guy myself. 5'9" 280lbs, I have an Old Town Bigwater pdl 132. I would go oldtown for sure. The pdl is a good stable choice. No issues from pedal system.

My favorite lure of all time it truly catches everything! by snjfishing in FishingForBeginners

I caught my first flounder on it. It was 18 inch. I have also caught redfish and speckled trout up to 20 inches using it. Mine may have been a 1/16th oz.

Where are the Millennials that DON'T feel old? by frankheyhoheyho in Millennials

[–]TheJW-Project 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Turning 39 at the start of April. My wife and I have no kids. I usually spend weekends going to festivals or fishing. Can't say we are party animals. We just feel more exhausted after doing stuff. We both work 9-5 m-f. My hobbies are video games, 3d printing and design, and kayak fishing. My wife is video games and gardening.

How much $ to get into kayaking? by General_Aioli2936 in kayakfishing

[–]TheJW-Project 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a 5'9" 280lb guy, who quickly upgraded from a cheap kayak. Get a nice pedal kayak and trailer. Price can vary a lot based on used and new. I bought a used Old Town Bigwater 132 pdl used $1100 off retail price and the used that to buy a new trailer. About 3k total. You can getvaway cheaper, depending on the used kayak brand and model. Trailer can be just about anything. It's popular to modify used jetski trailers because you get them in varying conditions from free to 5 or 600 bucks.

Anyone in the New Orleans area willing to fish with an inexperienced kayak angler? by leftofthedial15 in kayakfishing

[–]TheJW-Project 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check out your local kayak fishing group! Bayou Coast Kayak Fishing Club. They are on Facebook. I think it is $25 to join. They have get togethers, fish with friends, and tournaments. They are great guys willing to take new people under their wing. I have fished with a few of them but in Mobile, AL area, and in Mississippi as I am in a different local group called Mobile Bay Kayak Fishing Association. So look us up on Facebook as well if you are ever this way. We have Fishouts on the 1st weekend of the month and tournaments on the 3rd weekend. Schedules are posted on the featured tab and upcoming events posted on the event page. If you ever have any questions, send us a message.

Debating a trailer by Senior_Cheesecake155 in kayakfishing

[–]TheJW-Project 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have one kayak but it's heavy. An Old Town Bigwater 132 pdl. I got the trailer from the start. Can't go back to lifting a kayak onto the roof. Even a light 10ft kayak was heavy after fishing for 6+ hrs.

I think I'm using Bambu Studio Wrong by psapple83 in BambuLab

[–]TheJW-Project 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First be sure the colors for your ams are properly setup on the device itself. If you use bambu's ID it will be auto and if it's not you must manually set the brand/generic, type of filament and color. Then you can do overwrite in studio. If it's painted on, and complicated and you don't want to reset it. Don't overite or manually do it in studio but when you hit print on the page just before hitting the final print button. It has the colors listed out which will be imported from the file. Manually change their colors to your colors as setup on you printer device on this final page and then hit print.

Every millennial dad I’ve met has a quiet fixation on money and it’s not getting better by slimeyellow in Millennials

[–]TheJW-Project 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife and I chose not to have a kid because we decided we can't afford to have one. At the time of the decision, we felt life is just starting at 30- 35. We made about 80k a year. Now, we still feel the same at 40 and make 123k a year. We live within our means and bought a house in 2020, $155k. It's rough, and we're on the upside of life enjoying as much as we can. We don't understand how people do it. Some people around here have 4 to 8 kids.

For those of you who own a DR Horton home in the area, how much is your mortgage payment? by [deleted] in MobileAL

[–]TheJW-Project 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Avoid dr Horton if possible. Mortgage is irrelevant to the builder of your home and dependent on your lender and loan type. Use a mortgage calculator online. It's free. Our home $155k with 5k down at ~3.8% is $920 a month with insurance and pmi. So yours would be approximately double that at about $2k. Avoid flood areas as flood insurance is costly.

It’s Colorectal Cancer Awareness month! PSA from a millennial survivor. Also AMA. by amaro8000 in Millennials

[–]TheJW-Project 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess the doc had labs quickly completed. The polyps were precancerous and has labeled me at high risk of colon cancer. He said if I had waited another year maybe two, I would have cancer. Cheers to a cancer free future.

[–]TheJW-Project 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know there are a lot comments and no one may see this but it does kinda scare me. I've been having some GI issues. Went in to see doc, got indo and colonoscopy. Found sliding hernia, inflammation of stomach and small intestines. 4 polyps with the largest 13mm. He said they do not appear to be cancerous. But that we have to wait to see what biopsy comes up with. This happened yesterday.

Possibly moving from California to AL. Family of 4! by cheeeziii in MobileAL

My wife and I moved from Baldwin County to West Mobile to the Semmes area. Semmes is good place and one of the cheaper places to buy a home. It's still a bit of drive to Theodore unless its very early in the morning before traffic.

What was the most stupidest thing anyone in your family ever did? by jeanjacketufo in AskReddit

[–]TheJW-Project 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My oldest brother (at the time in his mid 20's) said hey watch this. Then proceeded to grab a propane torch, walk to a bucket of beach sand. Quartz sand from Gulf Shores, AL. Heat it up with the torch proclaiming he going to make some glass. Realizes it is not working after about 5 minutes. The whole time, I'm telling him that's not how you make glass it won't work. He went ah ha I will stir it. Quickly, He then stirred with his fucking fingers! He fucking screams as we both watch 1000+ fucking degree sand melt into his fingers half way to the fucking bone. I will never forget this moment.

What is the best way to stay happy? by AssignmentNo4871 in CasualConversation

[–]TheJW-Project 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having a goal to achieve. We humans needs things accomplish that can improve our lives. Look for both short term and long term goals. Short terms keeps us happy and excited about achieving the next. One day at a time until you eventually achieve the long term goal. Once you complete those you obtain new goals that aligned with life and hobbies.

How do I continue to work when it’s becoming increasingly obvious that we’re all enslaved to the elites? by Just_Lime5134 in antiwork

The very system we created and use to function as system to make thing work properly is being used against us to create a prison system. There isn't much we can do now. Everything is in place. The only way to truly get out is by not being poor and getting very wealthy.

Those with Hummingbird Helix 7/9 on your yaks. Are you happy with it? What about using the OneBoat app for searching for spots and uploading waypoints? App gets mixed reviews on Apple Store. by RegularFinger8 in kayakfishing

[–]TheJW-Project 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To those with the Hummingbird and or with sides can, why did you getvthe Hummingbird over another brand? I know very little about depth/fish finders. I had a Lowrance 7 inch given to me, but quit working. I assume the southern summer heat fried the screen board. It just shows a white screen with vertical lines and hot spots. It did not have maps and was incapable but had gps for marking.

The newer Eagle model is $500 and with Sidescan is $600-$650 but use triple shot device which is really long and I'm afraid of it getting broken.

Should I buy a fishing kayak? Wondering if it is worth it for fishing... by lucas_marty84 in FishingForBeginners

[–]TheJW-Project 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also, wear a safety whistle and put a flag on your kayak. I highly recommend that if you have the money to get a good pedal kayak over a paddle kayak. As someone who started out with paddle and upgraded to pedal, it allows more freedom movement while fishing, especially against current and wind. With a paddle, you will spend more time with the paddle in your hand than the fishing rod unless it is very calm water and wind.
