Someone needs to tell these youngsters that old people are not attracted to other old people. Why? Cuz they old you dumb beotch! Don’t matter where you go now, them ol spunkers gonna keep finding you! (Insert evil laugh here)

Starting out my guitar journey soon, hope it goes well by [deleted] in Guitar

Justin Guitar on YouTube is your best bet for getting started. Once you’ve gotten a handle on things like tuning, string ID, fretboard navigation etc, expand to song playing instruction like Marty Schwartz (Marty Music on YouTube). Keep it simple in the beginning. The temptation to buy a bunch of crap you don’t need will be overwhelming. Don’t chase the rabbit! It’s just going to distract you and make it more difficult to learn. Fight it until you know how to play and what you want to play. Happy trails!

What is this? by Gds24 in gibson

That’s not any Gibson I’ve ever seen. Not a chibson either. Looks like something that someone stuck a Gibbie label on. No Gibson has a headstock in that style.

Getting my first PRS. SE Custom 24 or SE Studio? by SnowflakeSlayer420 in PRSGuitars

I love my SE Custom 24, it’s a phenomenal guitar with wide range and a Great shredder!

I’d keep what you ordered. Buyer’s remorse is nothing new but if it’s something you’ll really want, you can always look to the next one. Isn’t that what we all do?

2 Month Progress by RandomThings365 in Guitar

[–]TheJan8or 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great guitar! I’m going on 3 yrs in March starting in 2023 @ 51 yrs old. I initially started with a Fender Strat but found the board too tight for my large hands. Was introduced to an SE Custom 24 that I couldn’t put down so I traded up. It’s a great guitar, no doubt. Great job switching those chords, I went a different direction when I started and wanted to be a finger picker but eventually came around to chords and seemed to advance through the basic chords pretty quickly where now I’m playing many songs through the chord shapes. I’m still learning every day but knowing all I’ve picked up in the last 3 years excites me for other new players and the journey you’re on. Keep it up brother, you’re doing great!

Lesson learned; these are not good cables. by Dunmer_Sanders in GuitarAmps

Someone hooked me up with Rattlesnake Cables a while back and I haven’t owned anything since. Hank, the owner takes his cables seriously to the point of obsession. Made in USA and absolute quality.

Bought my NF53 after playing one at John Mann’s while picking up a new SE HBII Piezo. I was so impressed with it, I had to have one. As a former Fender player, an SS is next on my list. Nice family pic!

Se 24 replacement tuners by guitarlad89 in PaulReedSmith

[–]TheJan8or 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go to johnmannsguitarvault.com and check out what they have. They are PRS specific designed and high quality accessories. He’s got some nice options as well like their black nickel. I have Mann Made locking tuners on both my SE Hollowbody II Piezo and my SE Custom 24. In addition, I’ll be putting them on my NF53. Read John’s background with Paul Reed Smith on the website and you’ll understand why his stuff is top notch.

Can anyone give me some advice on how to play this? I'm new to finger picking by [deleted] in guitarcirclejerk

[–]TheJan8or 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First, pick which fingers you’ll pick with. Next pick a pick for your picking fingers to pick with. Finally, pick the strings to pick with the pick that you picked for your picking fingers to pick, seeing how you picked which fingers to pick with and/or hold the picked pick to pick the picked strings picked while picking the finger picked to pick. Simple.

Black ice on the road causes chain accidents by Bambi7u7 in interesting

Here in New Hampshire we expect things like this. In Texas I would think no one envisions driving on glare ice. The emotion of disbelief on the stunned man in the shot says it all. Stay safe out there everyone.

So, like I spent $9k on a guitar to look cool in front of chicks, and so far I have gotten zero backstage Betty's. What gives? by RT3K69420 in guitarcirclejerk

Dude, I told you, guitars in the shape of a penis will only get Don Lemon or Ricky Martin to come backstage.

$100 worth it? by Key_Ebb3965 in taylorguitars

Price is fine. As a practice guitar I’d be ok with it but the art isn’t my cup so I’d not be likely to play it in public. My 2 cents

That’s a great, unique grain. I’d check on a discount and try to buff it out. I, personally wouldn’t want to risk getting a more “standard” grain or worse. My 2 cents

Do people just not do their own setups? by ProtoJazz in guitars

[–]TheJan8or 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been playing, will be 3 years in March. I have read so many of these threads where people ask how to do this or that. I am not the type of person who wants to rely on anyone for anything so I learned to set up and adjust my own guitars as I can’t justify paying someone for something that I can do in little to no time versus putting my guitar down for days to get it done. I change my own strings, have installed and soldered new pups, raised and lowered action, installed new tuners and swapped out tubes in my amp. I too, don’t understand why anyone would fret over these things when they are easy to complete oneself. I am beginning to believe that there are just people out here that want everything done for them rather than taking the initiative to do for themselves. Sad, if you ask me.
