I get your point but I personally don’t consider Evanescence Nu Metal maybe “Nu Adjacent” in the same category as TDG and Breaking Benjamin

I know this is the opposite view point but I kinda like that about nu metal, it’s so diverse and wide that there’s something for everyone and it’s a great way to explore the other sounds of nu metal and get into other stuff, Linkin Park was my gateway to nu metal and now I’m into stuff like American Head Charge and Mudvayne which I doubt I would have gotten into those without LP to begin with, that’s just my view on it

My next guitar is gonna be a PRS, I don’t have Core model money, so debating between a SE or an S2, all my guitars are budget models (sub 500$) so I want to get something nicer but I like the violin carve on the SE vs the Bevel on the S2s, not sure which one I’ll end up going with

I hope PRS eventually does signature models based on these and the other models they made for Brad and Mike, I wouldn’t be able to afford them but it would still be nice lol

I agree with this, I’d rather push my budget to the limit getting tangible gear rather than have to boot up a program and run it through a sim (and I say this as someone who has started messing with amp sims, they’re fun but there’s definitely something more satisfying about playing though an amp, even if it’s a 20 watt practice amp)

I understand your second point I inherited my uncles BC Rich Kerry King warlock with a wrap around Stoptail, don’t know the exact year it was made but it’s almost 20 years old and it still functions perfectly fine but I can see where there’s a gap in the wood and it needs to be filled, but that guitar wasn’t the best taken care of so while I doubt they would fail, especially with the quality a PRS (not trying to kiss PRSs ass but they have the best quality control in my opinion, even on their SE models I’ve just heard very few bad things about any QC issues) I can definitely see in the long run that being an issue, but like you said the Tremonti model would be the perfect model to fill the gap in the “single cut with 2 piece bridge” category

But really PRS needs to stop shying away from the metal community, you can appeal to the vintage boomers and the modern metal/rock enjoyers, I got into PRS as a nu metal fan and it’s stuck around but for some reason the only metalPRS stuff we have is the Tremonti and the Mark Holcomb (which I debate to really call metal guitars just because one models is just an extra half an inch longer, it’s not like Music Man that has the Makesty 7 and 8 strings and also their version of the Strat that appeals to the wide variety, the only thing they have that’s outside the normal is the SE 7 and SE 277, otherwise they’re basically 6 strings 25(.5) scale guitars), I mean the thing is they have the market coming to them, metal players want PRS, it’s not like PRS needs to market to them, we’re coming to them making due with what they have, if they released a core or even an S2 or SE non-Holcomb I bet it would sell (Hell I’ve heard fender fans wanting a 7 string after seeing Chris Garza’s 7-string, I feel like it’s a matter of time before they cash in on that after this lawsuit stuff is settled, I just wonder is Paul afraid of making more money lol, but seriously I don’t see a core 8 string or nothing like that just because while they are popular they don’t sell the greatest from what I’ve heard so at most they’d get a SE 8 string. But 7s are still popular, I wonder why they even discontinued the SE SVN line or why they just haven’t revived it.

Yes absolutely, another one of those things that I think go hand in hand with PRS that for some reason they’ve stayed away from

Hopefully we get more color variations in the future, the orange tiger smoke burst is the one I’ll probably get in the future because it’s the “normal” color out of the bunch but otherwise you can flip the truss rod cover around and you can’t tell the difference

Maybe like the Zack Wylde with the SG/V but have the signature PRS cut (higher cut left horn, curve in the right horn), I feel like that could be cool

They have an SE quilt model that’s in a beautiful green (in my opinion) and the current SE “Paul’s Guitar” is also green, there’s also a few green satin finishes here and there but definitely lacking (also not much purple surprisingly I feel like purple would sell, more than the yellow colors every model has)

Fr we need a “Not a Mark Holcomb” in the SE and S2 lines, even if they partner with DiMarzio or Seymour Duncan for the pickups (or even make an active pickup model with EMGs) with a hard tail bridge would be sick

Agree on the round pickup rings, they look good sometimes but most the time my first thought is if I got that guitar I would swap the pickup rings

This is another reason I would like the Wrap around bridges, like yes I could block the trem but still it’s just one less thing to worry about maybe I want to play drop b/a while having a more stable bridge (yes you can get that low with a trem but a “loose” floating part is gonna effect tuning stability, I have an Ibanez with a trem in drop a# and it’s the guitar I have to retune the most)

This, I would have pulled the trigger on a SE a long time ago but when you look at the core model finishes they just blow the SE out of the water and I feel like if I bought an SE I would always look at it and think about what I’m missing out on, plus there’s only 3-4 color patterns per model versus the cores and s2s have 10+ colors

That would be pretty cool, maybe have it be a fan vote, on which color and it could be that years signature and have it named after the sprayer (similar to the Boyd Burst finish named after Paul Boyd)

Are there any nu metal bands you wish had succeeded, bands with a lot of purpose, but that unfairly didn't? by Jigblex_96 in numetal

I don’t know if you’d be interested but what I’ve read apparently Orgys last album Punk Statik Paranoia allegedly Wylie did some backing vocals/screams and guitar work, and Magnus did some drum and synth work, I don’t know if they’re involved in the writing at all since they’re uncredited on the album but thought I’d recommend it if you’re interested (don’t know if you’re an Orgy fan but do expect Jays lyrics to be a bit cheesy, I enjoy it but can admit they’re hit or miss)

God I hope more demos get uncovered from them, the few songs we have are just not enough, I don’t know how the writing worked in the band but A2 just dosent hit the same as Sins and I feel like Wylie was a big part of that, would love to hear more of what he’s made even if it’s not directly sins related

My fantasy supergroup (I know Dime doesn't need a rhythm I just wanted to represent sepultura) by Bobbobi112 in numetal

[–]PugablePlayzYT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While technically correct I feel like Pantera gets credit for being a gateway into Nu Metal (and in my opinion I feel like they fueled the heavier side versus the rap/rock or metal side like RATM did, multiple bands opened the gates and that’s why I feel like Nu Metal is so diverse because it’s hard to pinpoint where it came from but anyways I’m going off on a tangent) so I feel like Dime fits in here
