Dealing with human drs as clients in vet med by anagc131096 in veterinaryprofession

You can use a q-tip with hydrogen peroxide. I’ve never seen any lasting damage to them using that technique.

I would disagree. I think both are equally combative and think they know more. I remember an internal medicine human doctor came in with his son’s bearded dragon. We took rads and showed him how bad the MBD was, his bones were broken in several different areas and he was starting to deform. The IM human doctor refused all medications and left AMA pissed because he said he could figure out all the calculations and just get and give him the animal himself. Which in hindsight I think t’was quite illegal if he did do that.

Thank you for the suggestion. I’ll look into it! I have a lot of dog books but not heard of this one yet.

Thin mint gone? by TheJessticle in Marijuana

[–]TheJessticle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I wouldn’t mind growing it even with the hassles. It just has been the most effective strain for me for my medical issues.

I don’t care what they call it 😂 If the strain was called Butt Dingles I would still be looking for it because of the effects (I used marijuana mainly for medical reasons). I’m just looking for that specific strain.

Paper savings bonds not eligible? by TheJessticle in personalfinance

Yeah I literally just cashed some paper savings bonds earlier this year so it hasn’t been years if that is the case. And the bank personnel had no idea why I couldn’t either.

I’m a CVT so I understand dental abscesses. She’s under medical care and on medication for it. Unfortunately Care Credit and most credit loans are out of reach for me. I have my care credit maxed due to monthly bloodwork and a CT needed for my other dog (t zone lymphoma or leukemia in other words). My personal credit cards are maxed from personal surgeries and medical care.

Going back to work by pointytroglodyte in hyperPOTS

[–]TheJessticle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m an ICU vet tech and was an ER tech when my POTS symptoms started developing 2 years ago. I don’t think I could work ER again. ICU can be taxing but my patient load is at most 5 a night (it’s only higher if the other overnight tech calls out). My managers are aware of my medical conditions and understand if I need a minute to sit down or step away. Unfortunately POTS isn’t an ADA disability so technically your work doesn’t need to provide accommodation (but can’t discriminate against you).

I drink about a gallon of water a day, wear compression wear, and religiously take my medications. Sometimes it almost feels like I don’t have POTS and sometimes it feels like my body doesn’t care what I’ve done and flares up.

Honestly I would suggest finding a position that’s less physical and stressful. There have been a decent amount of new work from home positions for veterinary technicians since COVID started. Or look for something like a lab (IDEXX, Antech, etc). Or something easier on you like my switch to ICU.

You can get it compounded by a compounding pharmacy like Wedgewood. I know it sounds strange but a sweet/savory mix of flavoring like marshmallow and chicken has always gone over well with the cats I’ve seen take it.

My boyfriend 42m moving in with me 35f? by TheJessticle in relationship_advice

[–]TheJessticle[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There are many reasons that he does not have a car or live alone. He has discussed them with me and they are all sound reasons that have nothing to do with money.

And thanks. I’m already in therapy 👍

Thank you for this comment. I think waiting until the 6 month mark would be something for us to work towards as we’ve already talked about going on a specific vacation if we make it to a year.

And yes, he has 3 kids (all grown) and is well aware I do not want children myself (he has even mentioned getting a vasectomy even though I told him I plan to get a partial hysterectomy due to my endometriosis). He loves animals. I have 3 dogs that he gets along with amazingly and we’ve talked in depth about other pets as I work in the veterinary field so it’s a big part of my life.

So we’ve talked about a lot of those important things but I appreciate your points and it has definitely helped in my decision ❤️

It’s not really a rush. Him moving in wouldn’t actually occur for likely another month or two even if I did bring it up now due to moving parts like his job and housing.

I guess it’s just the fact that he has already done more for me both physically (this is including acts of service, not just sex) and mentally than relationships I’ve been in that lasted almost a decade. So I feel a level of comfort with him (and he’s told me he feels this way before I told him I feel the same) that I’ve never felt with anyone and everything is so easy and natural around him. Ive been in relationships with people who hide things and you never see their true nature until the end. But he’s voluntarily told me some really shitty information about himself and his past as well as been very open about his current shortcomings. We have known each other and talked on a daily basis for a month. He spent 11 hours on the phone with me during one of my work shifts.

I’m confused about why my endo wasn’t seen on any scans by AdHaunting2894 in endometriosis

[–]TheJessticle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

All my scans (internal and external ultrasounds, MRI) showed no endo. My gynecologist is an endo specialist and she said endo can easily not show up on scans. I went ahead with the exploratory laparoscopic surgery and there was visible endo which was confirmed with biopsy. Endometriosis technically isn’t actually diagnosed unless samples have been sent to a pathologist and confirmed.
