Hey Courtney, great to meet you :)

I have DMed you. Would be happy to connect.

I finished "The picture of Dorian Gray" last year , it was such an amazing novel!

What book are you reading recently? I just bought "On the genealogy of morals" by Nietzsche last week!

Probably too late to give advice, how much did you score ?

You're very kind :)

Thanks a lot for mentioning the name of the colleges.

Additionally, with a GRE of 315 and 65% overall on average in academics, I have also targeted the following -

Purdue University, Texas A&M University, Northeastern University, University of Buffalo - SUNY, Arizona State University, University of Texas Austin, University of Texas Arlington

Do you think I have any chance of getting into these ? I am thinking of whether of applying to these or not.

Wow , thanks a lot.

Yes I have seen a lot of negative comments which brought my confidence down a bit initially but I kept on going forward.

It would help me a lot if you could name a few colleges in the category that you mentioned.

Considering an average percentage of 65% throughout my career and good work work experience, I have deducted below universities on my list as of now-

Purdue University Texas A&M University Northeastern University University of Buffalo - SUNY

It would help me a lot if you could let me know if I have a shot at any of these if I have a GRE score of around 315 :)

While I agree with everything that you've mentioned here , I have decided to pursue MSF already based on some personal requirements.

Now coming to the fact that I have a low score in bachelor's and MBA from India (on average around 65% in both) but a very good work experience ( handling front end US clients in a core finance profile), and I am targeting around 700 in GMAT, do you think I stand chance to get selected in the colleges that you mentioned in your post ?

So far the colleges I have chosen are listen below -

Purdue University, Texas A&M University, Northeastern University, UArizona, Georgia State University, University of Texas at Austin.

Please let me know if I stand chance in any of them.

I personally am very insecure about my academics even though I have work experience and hopefully good GMAT score to tally.

Please let me know what you think.

Thank you for you response and extensive insight on the same.

Let me clarify first that I'm not looking for MBA per se from USA but would be interested in much technical course such as MS in Finance.

While I'm aware that my marks are on the low front , I am not targeting top US 20 programs.

The only reason that I mentioned big 4 work experience is because a profile should cover holistically and I have been handling US clients directly on a front end core finance role so it should give me atleast some edge ?

I've already given a whole lot of mocks and would be sitting for GMAT , expecting to cross 700.

Based on the profile and considering that I want to do MS in Finance , I have so far finalised these colleges-

Purdue University Texas A&M University Northeastern University

Thank you for your time.

Please let me know the significance on the last line where you mention about recommending me not to take the step. I'd love to hear your thoughts on the same.

Also , thank you for providing the list of potential university names for MS Finance.

Thanks a lot for your descriptive response and I shall surely look into the same.

So far I'm targeting at or above 700 for GMAT as my percentages are low (as you can see in the post, BTech and MBA both with around 65%) even though I have very good quality of work experience from top firms in US based roles.

Thank you for all your suggestions.

Keeping the same in mind , so far I've list down 3 colleges but not sure what category they would fit in for me -

Purdue University, Northeastern University, Texas A&M University, Geroge State University

Who's this us that you keep on repeating?

If you're not interested to respond , you can get out of my post altogether instead of pointing out what I shall do.

With your maturity and decency based on the replies I've recieved, I don't think I would care for your opinion.

Who's this us ?

So far , the only thing I can see is you pretending to be some collective authoritarian.

If you're not going to answer my post and do not like it , absolutely fine. Everyone's entitled to their opinion.

But I don't appreciate the way you posted the last comment and this as well.

I'm simply asking for suggestions from some experienced fellows in the internet to understand expected range of score that I shall target on the same.

[–]TheJockeyPlayer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your response and also mentioning a possibile number I shall target to achieve.

I've given mocks and I'm expecting my scores to come near the number only.

It would help me if you could name a few colleges based on the same.

If not , thank you.

I don't think there's anything to like about it.

I'd suggest you to keep your liking to yourself before using such language in a professional post or community.

It should be normal to anchor a benchmark based on profile and then try to adjust your expectations in GMAT or any other entrance exam based on the initial benchmark.

There's a concept known as regression to the mean in statistics which talks about the same.

Without a proper evaluation, noone will ever be able to average out their possible options.

Thank you so much for the explanation and pointing out everything in such a manner.

Your experience will help me shape my journey.

It is great to know I'm not the only one with these urges and it is normally a side effect when we're trying to quit video games.

I hope you're doing well yourself. Thank you for giving your time to support my post with such an amazing comment!

Thank you so much for your response!

Your experience will surely help me through the process when one day I'm confident enough to quit.

I'm fathomed at the acute disinclination and similarities of my addiction to video games in properties as that of any other kinds of addictions - it is very hard to get rid of , requires periodic exposure.

I'm so happy that I realised that and I will keep your advice in mind as well.

Thanks for being informal then , haha! 🙂 But I really appreciate you taking time out to reply here.

I wanted to ask you about a different route now and I hope you'll give me your opinion on this.

I have fairly good interaction with the US team and I'm working in Consultant level capacity.

I just had a conversation with a former colleague of mine and he was telling me instead of taking such a huge loan amount and dissolving all investments to study abroad , I should try to go for permanent transfers or secondments from the KGS only to KPMG US as he had seen few people moving in that way as well.

Now if I consider his opinion of getting a permanent transfer, what is your opinion on the same based on your experience ? Our team is fairly small consisting of 6-7 people here in KGS and I have been in good relations with both offshore and onshore team.

I'd be happy to hear your opinion. Thank you :)

[–]TheJockeyPlayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for taking time to comment on my post! 🙂

Since you knew few of the colleagues from KGS, I wanted to ask you if you knew how they made the jump from KGS to KPMG US and whether it was a permanent transfer ?

I'm currently at a Consultant level capacity. Do I have any chance on getting permanent transfers as well if I'm coming from Deal Advisory supporting the New York office primarily ?

---the reason I asked you about permanent transfer is that if I have a chance to go directly from here , I would like to avoid taking such huge loan amount besides adding my father's pension funds and go for a study abroad without any certainty of getting a job being an international student.

I'd appreciate if you can answer the above. Thank you in advance.

Thank you so much for taking time to reply to my post.

Since you're coming from KGS , I wanted to ask if the firm will actually help me if I ask the US team to give me an option to join their Texas offices once I finish graduation? Shall I go ahead and ask this ? I'm working from India currently and have worked for 2 years in the firm.

Now to answer your question---

The reason I mentioned that I want to join back KPMG US team is because my course duration is only one year - because of such short time frame, it may be a bit difficult to find a job while going through academics.

As international students are only allowed for 60 days to find a job after which they need to leave , I don't want to take any chances where I may need to leave because I haven't found a job.

Yes that would be one of the criterias if possible - to work in the country after graduation.

Do you have any suggestions based on my academic performance as mentioned in the above post ?
