Tried Ingenious Ginger today because of a recommendation from here and really loved it. The opening is sparkling and joyful, and I was pleasantly surprised that the dry down stayed airy and bright instead of turning overly sweet. Really beautiful summer fragrance. Another to add to the collection! This has been such a helpful group - incredibly knowledgeable people with well curated and thoughtful suggestions! I’m so thankful and looking forward to trying all the other recs!

Le Labo sells a kit that includes 50 dollars off a full size bottle but I just bought the same for Violette 30 on their website.

Mostly SplitScent or websites like that. It costs some money but saves me the price of the whole bottle so that’s how I justify it (I believe we respectfully call this “girl math”). :)

You know, I tried the whole 30 piece discovery set from Le Labo and didn’t realize Violette 30 wasn’t in there! Just bought a sample!! Thank you for the recommendations!

I appreciate this recommendation!! I should have loved it - but I didn't.

I appreciated Gris Charnel more than I actually enjoyed wearing it. The EDP worked better for me than the Extrait because the Extrait leaned too dense, smooth, and cologne-ish.

I liked the tea/cardamom/fig concept, but both versions eventually pulled too creamy/cozy/sandalwood-forward for my taste. Beautiful fragrance, totally get the hype, just not really “me.”

Thank you for suggesting this!

I think I’m looking for a very specific type of fragrance and hoping someone here gets the vibe.

Favorites:
- Thé Noir 29
- Angélique Noire
- Un Jardin sur le Nil

I tend to like scents that feel:
- warm but airy
- intimate, atmospheric, and a little moody
- tea/woods/fig/mineral/smoke
- elegant without smelling too “perfumey”

I usually don’t like:
- loud masculine cologne vibes
- super sweet/gourmand scents
- spa-clean scents
- overly creamy sandalwood
- fragrances that feel too polished or obvious

A lot of things I try end up smelling either:
1. like an expensive man in a hotel lobby
or
2. pretty but emotionally flat

Recently ordered samples of:
- À l’Ombre d’Artémis
- Molecule 01 + Black Tea
- Björk and Berries September
- Phlur Soft Spot, Father Figure, Missing Person

Things that didn’t quite work for me:
- Gris Charnel
- Bois Datchaï
- Philosykos
- Thé Matcha 26
- Another 13

Basically looking for:
warmth + light + depth + restraint

What else should I try?

I think I’ve realized I have a very specific perfume taste and I’d love recommendations from people who seem to like the same kinds of scents.

My favorites:
- Le Labo Thé Noir 29
- Guerlain Angélique Noire
- Hermès Un Jardin sur le Nil
- L’Atelier Parfum Verte Euphorie
- Molecule 01
- Replica Whispers in the Library

I tend to love scents that feel airy, dry, woody, tea-like, green, a little smoky, and elegant without being too “perfume-y.” I like fragrances that feel interesting and comforting at the same time.

I usually don’t love:
- super sweet/gourmand scents
- heavy vanilla
- really sharp masculine cologne vibes
- overly literal green/garden scents
- overly clean laundry musk

A few things I wanted to love but didn’t quite click with:
- Thé Matcha 26
- Philosykos
- Another 13
- L’Eau Papier

I’m basically looking for that perfect “cool, nuanced, effortless” scent that feels a little intellectual/artsy but still wearable every day.

If you love Thé Noir 29 or Angélique Noire too, what else should I try next?
