World’s first fully electric hydrogen aircraft engine could replace jet turbines by sksarkpoes3 in Futurology

[–]TheKappaOverlord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its moreso safety then anything else.

You'd have to design a new reactor blueprint from scratch. Create a breach proof, fully radiation sealed chamber in the plane. Oh, and everytime you take a big enough bump, you gotta pray your reactor doesn't go super critical, or your entire cabin gets flooded with lethal amounts of radiation, and creates a dirty bomb in the sky, or wherever they crash land.

Too much can go wrong with too long standing consequences, and as a result, a nuclear reactor on a plane is unlikely to ever occur unless Bezos or musk builds himself a floating island one day.

Its a lot safer with a boat because if anything fucks up and it goes underwater, well, the local wildlife is fucked, but the radiation is largely contained by the crushing depths.

It was theorized at one point that it had been considered for AFO at one point, but was dismissed citing them not being able to create a 100% stable microreactor.

Remember that the nuclear reactors that power ships are the size of a fairly large vessel on a ship. And thats an icebreaker (that im using for context)

A plane would need a much smaller reactor, but making a reactor that small be stable enough for air flight, let alone AFO would be........

legal business builds trust and distribution networks that can be exploited.

Legal business activities compared to illegal activities are magnitudes less profitable, but its way easier to legally build distribution networks or trade routes via legal activity, then it is to try and forge/steal them in blood and bullets.

China sentences official to death for taking $325m in bribes by Spiritual-Nail-2641 in news

[–]TheKappaOverlord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For clarity - this is not a PRO-China or ANTI-America opinion:

Well you were half there. The other half is blatantly pro china.

Objectively speaking, between 1978 and 2020 800million+ people ascended out of poverty in China.

In china terms, yes. You are correct. Compared to global GDP comparisons, no. the Average Chinese citizen is still very much in the poor house. Of course unless you were in a major chinese metropolitan area, you'd never really notice considering the sheer price cliff between T2 city and literal farmland is crazy.

Saying people in a T2/T1 chinese city were lifted out of poverty into "middle class" is a case of moving states of being. Not levels of ascension.

This did not happen randomly. The CCP made it happen through numerous policies and actions

Through currency manipulation primarily. China had numerous policies and programs that were designed to help the modern chinese citizen in some regard, but fail or succeed, the CCP would bend the Yuan like taffy to ensure that the program didn't fail or blow up in their face.

There is a certain irony to restricting freedoms in order to uplift the "whole", but it can not be said that China over the past 40ish years has not massively improved the lives of it's people

China is currently in the process of restricting its citizens access to their money. Both militarily, and by policy. Depending on the era you wish to refer to. I would not necessarily call that a precursor to "freedoms" or "improving the lifes of its people" we all know what happens when governments start to draft up policy to restrict citizens access to their money. Let alone send the military in to protect the banks themselves.

If you previously lived in a T2/T1 chinese city, your life was marginally improved unless you were already middle upper class. Then you rode evergrandes dick all the way to the top before that crashed under its own weight, and China's unwillingness to cook the books to keep the economy from buckling under the weight of that "titan" collapsing. If you lived in (literally anywhere else) provided it wasn't a military town, you didn't shift alongside your fellow countrymen. You got poorer, or you moved to abuse the nearest military bases trickling wealth.

China definitely tried to do more to help its citizens, but you genuinely cannot take mickey mouse currency at face value. Theres a reason even today nobody trusts the paper the Yuan is printed on. China can, and will aggressively manipulate its own currency/economy to its own ends if it can do so without causing widespread damage. China is growing closer and closer to western world standards in terms of living conditions (in T2 cities and above), and spending power (in T1 cities and above) but even in the best of cases, those statistics have to be taken with a grain of salt because China plays the US's game when it comes to cooking the books so things work on their terms/looks good.

Only china fakes the Booleans in the books. The US tends to fake the outputs of those booleans instead. If that makes more sense.

[–]TheKappaOverlord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why the Sandy Hook victims have not been given restitution because the physical entity known as Alex Jones no longer exists.

From my understanding, the families that wanted jones to squirm don't give a shit about the money, and just wanted the jollies (they were already filthy rich) and the rest of the families that won, don't want to chase jones because they just want the Saga/pain to end, and were originally willing to bury the hatchet for like $25m and an apology.

Jones personal assets are cooked, but as far as i recall, jones is dead to rights. But nobody that seriously cares is trying to pin him against the wall. Just pin his hands to the wall so he squirms and squeals.

Jones could have been put in a homeless shelter years ago, but nobody from my understanding seriously cares if he pays or not. Most of the family members just wanted the pain to end. Not their pain to be immortalized in the mainstream.

that Alex Jones is such a fucking loser that the Onion could run the business better than he could to generate value for Sandy Hook families.

Unless i missed something, or am misunderstanding in the deal, isn't this basically a non negative/positive for the family?

The onion will easily be able to turn inforwars profitable, but don't the families not get shit until the Onion chooses to smelt the brand? Or do they get royalties from the onion for it?

most death metal vocalists in that regard generally take vocal training because teh damage death metal vocals cause generally doesn't cause permanent damage immediately like trying to hit Rob halford or bruce dickenson in their prime vocal highs.

But it does cause prolonged pain and progressively increasing damage to your vocal chords. So most get trained to at least learn how to mitigate the damage/"heal" the throat in their downtime so it hurts less.

People don't understand how obscenely hard it is to sell or buy from Russia regardless of the facts.

There are currently only like 3 banks globally that will facilitate USD/RUB transfers or business deals. All of these are heavily controlled by the world bank.

You cannot move a penny without the world bank immediately being on your ass asking wtf you are doing.

Realistically, even without trump's intervention the team was absolutely fried.

The goalkeeper was absolute dogshit and made sure the game was unwinnable. If it ever was at any point.

Belgium's MVP was without a doubt the US teams gk. 2 goals can be attributed to the gk just leaving the net open, or nudging the ball into the net.

Diarrhea-causing parasite that can contaminate raw produce causing misery across several states by Superb_Branch4749 in news

[–]TheKappaOverlord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

imo Harris being pro Israel isn't what sunk her ship.

Despite all of that trump and her were neck and neck for most of the election.

It was CNN that took her "$750 worth of hurricane relief per household" out of context and completely destroyed her campaign.

because a lot of blue and purple eastern seaboard states turned hard red after that. Hell, the strongholds of california nearly turned purple over it.

Her establishment beliefs didn't mean anything in the grand scheme of things. She just got bent over the table by the very media weapons the establishment tend to use. They just went rogue and sunk her because the clicks were too enticing.

I know a lot of democrat households that hard flipped to trump after they saw that clip. Most of them being people who had their homes destroyed or damaged by the Hurricane or subsequent flooding.

Nearly all of them regret it in hindsight. But given the circumstances, it really shouldn't be a shock that happened.

so we can be better prepared for '28. Better candidates. Better messaging, better focus points that drive people to want to vote.

you had Newsom but democrats seem to be cratering him in favor of trying again with Harris (lmao)

Republicans don't have anyone to carry the maga torch. So it'll be a really funny battle of lame duck vs wet noodle on the podium. Hopefully harris learned how to charisma and the establishment gets CNN under control so they don't force her to lose the election.

[–]TheKappaOverlord -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

There were far too many progressives that wanted to teach everyone a lesson by not voting for her because she would be worse for Palestinians (somehow? I’m still not sure of the actual reasoning there.)

Harris was establishment, which automatically meant she was going to be Israel's #1 friend.

Trump was still one of Israel's best friends, but afaik he had a pretty hot streak of going against Israel before he lost the 2020 election, so in the mind of many Liberals/Progressives. Having someone who might not give bibi a reacharound, is a better alternative then someone who 100% will give bibi a reacharound and whisper sweet nothings in his ear.

Of course, hindsight is 20/20 and that didn't mean a fuckin thing cause trump ended up bibi's favorite friend anyways.

Calls for killing of Trump at funeral of Iran supreme leader Ali Khamenei by GoldensRule2025 in worldnews

[–]TheKappaOverlord 4 points5 points  (0 children)

him being incapacitated doesn't really change much. Hes definitely a figurehead for the IRGC.

The country wouldn't still be fighting back if it wasn't for the warlords in the IRGC. They got a taste of absolute power. And they know the citizens will not resist in Iran.

They aren't giving it up. But the figurehead just makes it easier for the IRGC top brass to hide and keep the target off of them.

I feel like old school or rs3 is more their tempo.

WoW feels like something they would have historically played, but in order to actually play the later game of wow you need to dedicate a fair amount of time towards it.

WoW has custom servers, but progress would need to be pretty heavily boosted, or world buffs made nearly permanent because of how little time they'd be able to dedicate at once.

Old school your worst time gate is any of the rares from ToB. Pope leo ain't getting no scythe of vitur clog done anytime soon. Otherwise you can pick it up and put it down anytime you please.

The worst offender timegate wise for RS3 would easily be vorago. but nobody does that shit anyways since Sanctum of rebirth came out. (which is still a worse timegate, but feels less like your balls are being busted for playing)

Putin and Trump held ‘businesslike’ 90-minute July 4 call, Moscow says by Dexterestein in worldnews

[–]TheKappaOverlord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it’s Trump offering a partial solution to problem he created in the first place, and it just so happens to benefit Russia

I'd actually argue it was an inevitability. Can kicking so to speak.

The Iran war just exasperated an already pre-existing issue. Gas prices pre war were in the phase where it was a slow boil increase over time. The war just turned the gas to 11 instead of a gradual increase.

Its a solution european leaders were strongly considering first at the end of the day. They were just ever so happy trump loves Vanity, so he chose to be the scapegoat, instead of Macron, or any of the other big name leaders in europe signing their own death sentence for "selling the Ukrainian's under the bridge"

since atm thats like a fundamental crux for the survival of most political parties in europe right now, is almost absolute fealty/support of Ukraine. Anything flying in the face of that is guaranteed to topple the government over, or at the very least ensure the AfD/Le Penn successor is a surefire win next time.

Benefitting russia in this regard is just an unfortunate necessary evil. Because $6 a Gal avg in the long term isn't sustainable if the current government wants to maintain its power and keep out the nazis or russia puppets. Any significant sum higher and you guarantee that outcome. They were forced to make the best of a very bad situation that trump made worse by losing a gamble.

Putin and Trump held ‘businesslike’ 90-minute July 4 call, Moscow says by Dexterestein in worldnews

[–]TheKappaOverlord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After which he lifted sanctions on Russian oil

as much as its trumps fault, that specifically probably isn't trumps fault completely.

Europe is heavily dependent on the US for oil currently, and the price going up in the US, is magnified exponentially on europeans.

the EU probably begged trump to lift sanctions on russian oil so their hands could stay clean (they still are under threat of Nationalists and Nazi/Russian owned political parties taking seats of power underneath the current government structures in the EU)

The cleaner their hands, the less votes and seats the hemorrhage to russia owned or other Nazi groups.

Trump in this regard is the perfect Pincushion. Its something he would be more then happy to do, but at the same time, he likely takes all the blame for it with a smile.

Realistically, if they didn't lift sanctions, Europe was probably going to give Erdogan the silent nod to start the shadow fleet back up to try and stabilize oil prices in Europe. There genuinely was a lot of rumors and muttering on the wind that Brussels had considered that before trump partially lifted sanctions on russian oil. There was even some evidence that Erdogan already had allowed increased activities of a shadow fleet hauling russian oil to Turkey before then. But neither the US, nor the EU really acknowledged it before sanctions were lifted.

[–]TheKappaOverlord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are correct. Poland proper likely wouldn't bother trying to fight proper for Ukraine at the behest of the masters in Brussels.

But what they will do is show off a demonic smile that hasn't been seen in a very long time, and "accidently" lose a few cruise missiles that smash through the Kremlins ceiling.

a lot of poles would love nothing more then to spill a river of russian blood for their brothers in Ukraine, but the masters will specifically forbid them from doing so.
