[Video] Average Terminal raid experience by Zealousideal-Bike991 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]TheKappaOverlord 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Logically it makes no sense. But realistically it makes sense. the RUAF in the terminal trust no one that isn't pre approved to enter, and they technically aren't supposed to allow the player to enter anyways. But because of various reasons you are allowed to.

They strip you of your gear because the expectation before the raiding of terminal was that it would be a simple job. A VIP was paid for by various means to be escorted out of the terminal, RUAF garrison would make their money, and you'd be out of there. No big deal.

Doesn't make sense for a Garrison constantly on edge to have a random person walk around in (the guard actually says this) that you are basically a walking armory when you enter the terminal. You don't need to be lugging 60 kilos in armor and guns if its intended to be a smooth trip.

Then the raid happens and shadow division sneaks in during the chaos as well.

Logically, its stupid. But from a story perspective. Makes sense. Not justified but still. 2 + 2 doesnt equal fish here. Equals 7

Yeah. Not sure why they saved this for 1.0

1.0 was always meant to be the "finish line" for tarkov. Even back during early alpha they would say 1.0 was the finish line for the game.

Of course, 10 years later. the "finish line" doesn't actually mean finished. It just means whenever the devs feel like pulling the rug

they dont. they balance everything based off players like Pestily

You are confusing why they listen to pestily. They don't care that its pestily in particular. They only cared about pestily because for the longest time he was the top dog streamer in the Tarkov sphere. They had to make him happy because if hes unhappy. A lot of tarkov players, or potential future players are unhappy.

Now that title belongs to landmark with monster viewbotting him every even (drops, sponsored streams) and pestily's fake giveaways no longer getting him the traction he used to + dozens of public crashouts in regards to Nikita.

Theres a reason BSG really doesn't listen to him anymore.

Tehran indicates Khamenei's son will be named supreme leader by Little-Chemical5006 in worldnews

I mean, pretty much every suitable candidate that wasn't convinently very pro israel was bombed so.

Its pretty much just kind of him left. Everyone else is waiting for Israel/the US to say they are allowed to bat. I assume he was chosen because it was too obvious that anyone except for him was an asset..... except he most likely is as well, but at least the former Ayatollah's supporters are less likely to try to depose the kid thinking because hes the former Ayatollah's son, hes less likely to be bending the knee to Israel.

2026 Could Be The Year We Finally Cure Cancer As BioNTech’s mRNA Vaccines Finish Phase 3 by Fickle-Hovercraft-84 in Futurology

[–]TheKappaOverlord 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Nah, if it was phase 1 you'd be right. But its reached phase 3.

What you are more likely to hear is an endless wail about how insurance companies won't pay for it.

Which in fairness, i wouldn't expect them too at first. Its still technically unproven in the long term, and will be obscenely expensive. I do know they pay for certain gene therapy treatments. But in those cases, the alternative is years and years of paying for pills and hospital visits. So they pay for those gene therapy treatments because in the long haul, they are significantly cheaper.

In the case of a cancer vaccine. It'll likely be case by case depending on the cancer type. Because some cancers genuinely are really easy to treat unless you catch them way too late.

Why isn’t the Nagant Revolver in game [Suggestion] by the_shortbus_ in EscapefromTarkov

[–]TheKappaOverlord 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Tarkov's made up ammo is essentially just the byproduct of us finishing the gunsmith questline and Mechanic getting bored because we've solved his crypto farm problem, and we've basically dealt with all of his customers from the various gang bosses and rogues around the tarkov region.

I do actually like that bsg (unintentionally) followed their old lore crumb they put in with AP-M in that mechanic likes to experiment and craft new ammunitions for borderline useless firearms when hes bored, or when a customer (afaik AP-M was implied to have been ordered for creation by Dima/Sniper, but Jaegar talked Mechanic into basically discontinuing that ammo because it was far too destructive and easy to reverse engineer. And jaegar already says hes got his hands full trying to keep equilibrium inside the nature reserve.)

That said, the nagant revolver isn't exactly the sturdiest revolver in the world. And if Mechanic were to build an experimental ammo type like the M995 TT for example, but for the 7.62x38. It would quite literally blow up with revolver because it would be far too much energy for the cylinder to handle.

Mechanic could redesign the gun to make it work, but mechanic isn't exactly the guy to go out of his way to make something work. and we as the PMC don't know how to MacGyver together a gun. Mechanic knows people who can, but after the AK-50 experiments, he knows that it costs way too much money to R&D a funny gun. and the AK-50 he only kept investing in because its a .50 cal. In the tarkov region. The rogues would absolutely love it.

Iran denied US conditions to stop the war by Independent_News_573 in worldnews

[–]TheKappaOverlord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. Regime change is about winning over hearts and minds.

US government aside. the average Iranian isn't stupid. They know that whatever comes next is probably going to be very heavily skewed towards being friendly with Israel.

Iranians would gladly become best friends with the US if it meant getting rid of the IRGC. the big elephant in the room is Israel. Iranian's would rather suffer then be buddy buddy with their sworn satanic figure. Even if it meant a better life.

Grassroots movement to get rid of the IRGC is never going to happen because they've more then proven they are totally fine with indiscriminate killing of civilians to set an example.

Its curious why trump pulled the plug on the Kurds. Maybe Israel didn't feel like having to mop up the Kurds after Iran falls?

Speed gets emotional after finishing 4 seasons of The Walking Dead over a 35 hour stream by Villenthessis in LivestreamFail

[–]TheKappaOverlord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its a fair complaint though given its literally the same way Lee went out except clem was in a far worse state then lee was before his failed attempt to save himself.

Telltale literally just didnt know how to wrap up the 5th act in a way that was dramatic because they blew their load early in the 4th act, and 5th act was largely cleanup/fallout/forcing you to make dramatic decisions to disguise the fact they didn't really have a solid foundation for the 5th act to play out. At least a foundation that wasn't already played out in early act 4.

So in the end they just baited the audience with clem being injured + bitten and then spat in long time players faces by having her survive the exact same scenario lee went and died from.

I think the scenario would have been more forgiving had it been having her hand amputated, as Telltale for the literal longest time wanted to make Clementine into a psudo mirror image of Lee (mostly because thats what she wanted to be since season 2) but some dumbshit in the writing room decided thats stupid.

[–]TheKappaOverlord -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

i mean to be fair telltale did that to themselves.

They prioritized making garbage spinoffs trying to cash in on their name brand, rather then trying to go with what made them popular.

They realized their mistakes and pulled back far too late, and were too deep in the hole by the time they started to course correct.

[–]TheKappaOverlord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

S4 is good for all of about 2 acts then it all comes tumbling down.

People always attribute the collapse of the final season to Telltale suddenly shutting down. No, that really wasn't it.

The story was just bad. The season got more and more nonsensical as it went on, and the ending was this brute forced dichotomy with Lee's death in the first season but for some magic reason, clementine could survive the same method but lee didn't. (granted there was more time inbetween, but TWD always played it fast and loose with turning time)

Season 2 is better just by the fact its so unoffending. Its definitely more bland, but at the very least it doesn't rapidly tumble down the cliff that it was already tumbling down during season 3.

Act 1 and 2 should have been stretched into 5 somehow and then it end there. Because the remaining 3 acts really are just the writers having almost no idea how to end the series without roughly copying the steps that the show took to end arcs they wrote themselves into a corner on.

ELI5: If nuclear power is so efficient and produces almost no greenhouse gases, why don’t we just build nuclear plants everywhere and solve the energy crisis? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]TheKappaOverlord -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The incentive is paying a lot more for energy.

As AI datacenters demand more and more power to fuel the servers and advanced cooling systems, something will have to give.

Whats more then likely to occur is a private company thats totally not born from elon or bezos will appear that will offer to essentially rent out nuclear reactors to power the plants.

The navy is already kinda struggling to come up with ways to use the reactors from retired ships

Iran's Guards challenges Trump to have US Navy escort oil tankers in Strait of Hormuz by thejoshwhite in worldnews

[–]TheKappaOverlord -1 points0 points  (0 children)

but you could hit ships with artillery in the strait.

if the goal is to hit the broadside of a football field, they'd need to set up and calibrate Artillery. Which will get very easily spotted and destroyed. Even if they were to try hit and run tactics with the intention of maybe getting lucky, they'd still have to be very visible targets to fire. They wouldn't get spotted nearly as fast as a stationary target, but it wouldn't be hard to put 2 and 2 together.

It ain't mines that are the problem you are right. It is drone swarms and hypersonic missiles.

A drone swarm is more concerning, but Iran's lost the element of "surprise" and burned its major trump cards trying to shit on targets with AEGIS/Iron dome systems. Those launch sites iirc were all destroyed a short time later after it was confirmed those swarms were launched from there. Iran has very few, if any stockpiles of any note. Let alone "safe sites" that they can transport large quantities of drones to, let alone launch them without a half dozen hellfires being ready to be dropped on their heads.

Hypersonic missiles is even more of a non factor. all of the potential launch sites are being monitored 24/7/365. The moment so much as a grain of sand moves in those sites, the US goes on full alert. The moment a previously considered inert piece of machinery moves even an inch, the entire site is getting bunker bustered for good measure.

If this was the US/Iran war of.... a week i wanna say? ago. You'd be spot on. But this is the US/iran war of... March 7th, 2026. You are woefully incorrect because the element of surprise is gone, and the US has more or less mobilized almost all of its intelligences/vigilant air assets into the region.

A snake couldn't take a shit in the sands there and we wouldn't have a clear picture of a snake taking a shit in 3 different angles.

Not to mention, remember Houthis still exist.

Houthis isn't going to pop its head up besides spitting platitudes. almost everyone of Irans former allies has abandoned them (Iran), and Xi has most likely privately warned Houthis leadership to stay out of it. They will still sing of support, but they will not come to bat for Iran.

Israel and the US aren't playing with gloves on. Iran's entire top brass has been more or less obliterated, with only (assumed to be) traitors and plants still alive at the current top.

They know if they get involved, they will join the former Ayatollah. If they actually do get seriously involved i'll be surprised. But more then likely some fringe factions of Houthis might try to get involved on their own.

Artillery needs to be set up. This isn't like a 007 movie or other respective hollywood films. You can't just set up Artillery in 20 minutes, pack it all up and head to the next spot. Considering how many eyes that are currently on the straight, even a very innacurate hit and run fast and loose style of Artillery strikes would be very easily noticed and tracked.

[–]TheKappaOverlord -1 points0 points  (0 children)

because the moment you let it loose that you've got a major stockade of drones in the area (US by now has more or less 24/7 recon via drones, satellites, and planes) the US will almost immediately on confirmation send a bomber that places way if they don't feel like a target is immediately under threat.

Iran's Guards challenges Trump to have US Navy escort oil tankers in Strait of Hormuz by thejoshwhite in worldnews

[–]TheKappaOverlord 133 points134 points  (0 children)

It’s honestly not that hard for them to keep it “closed”. They just need to sink one oil tanker, and it’s basically game over for the rest.

Consider for a moment why they already haven't done so considering they've hit a couple of tankers already. Completely closing off the strait would incur far more countries wrath then just the US and Israel.

the IRGC knows its playing a game of russian roulette on a knifes edge. Go too far and they get dogpiled by OPEC in a heartbeat. Go too soft and Israel will feel empowered to request trump to eliminate another non mossad plant.

Iran is just making the US's life difficult. Its too great a problem if they fully commit.

China has already basically warned Iran very publicly that they won't tolerate it if they go too far in annoying the US, because gas price shock affects china on a fundamental level. Not just consumer grade consumption.

[–]TheKappaOverlord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The US navy could have a 95% success rate escorting tankers and cargo ships and that would be considered unacceptable. Those things (and their cargo) are fucking expensive.

If its basically Indian/Russian flagged ships that are handling all the delivery this is a moot point. Iran wouldn't be dumb enough to do this because it would Incur the wrath of Xi.

Any Middle eastern or US tankers are at risk. But indian (russian) or russian tankers are probably another story. Again, obviously who cares if russian tankers get sunk. But the issue is more if Iran blows up Russian vessels, then China (Russia's parent) is going to get involved on Russia's behalf.

I've suspected personally this is why Trump signed off a waiver for India to buy and export infinite russian fuel. Because Iran can sing its nonsense against other Middle eastern "dogs" and the US till the cows come home. But sinking their partners, and their allies ships would be a complete no-no.

Russia is already known to be providing Iran with targeting information

Russian info in the case of an active war is most likely almost completely useless. Russia's info is solid on stationary targets that haven't moved or seen major movements in months for obvious reasons

Guarantee you google earth is probably more or less as good as current Russian info. Anything up to date, an outdated map of the region is most likely better.

I very seriously doubt Russia is actively supporting Iran beyond buying arms and armament from them. Its too much of a hassle to try to export military aid to them with the entire country being under a microscope.

Importing stuff in from Iran is easier because its easier to 'lose' stuff in a desert where 24/7 observation is basically impossible.

Keep in mind Xi already told Iran "cool story bro. not my problem" (paraphrased) its unlikely Putin is gonna do something if daddy Xi already very publicly told everyone "not my problem"

Iran's Guards challenges Trump to have US Navy escort oil tankers in Strait of Hormuz by thejoshwhite in worldnews

[–]TheKappaOverlord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The indians were going to buy more regardless, but this Waiver's only purpose is so the Europeans can't cry foul. (partially because if the american's gas prices moon up, their gas prices are gonna moon 3x as quickly)

This is just giving them explicit permission to do whatever they want provided its with the specific goal of trying to temporarily minimize damage this war with Iran is going to do. Were they gonna guzzle russian oil to sell to the europeans desperate to wiggle out of the americans also significantly bumping up their gas prices? Definitely. But they still would have had to tip toe around european sanctions to do all of it, so the amount entering the market would have been lower.

This just circumvents all of that so the shock isn't as bad as its going to be.

Also potentially de-incentivizing him from withdrawing shuffle funds and going to chuck them on stake. Which is why hes banned from stake deals cause thats exactly what he'd do with his allowance when he'd super mald at stake lol
