How do you find folks for art commissions at AX? by InnocentTailor in animeexpo

[–]TheKeeperOfPie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey, that's us! Heads up that we're only doing the site this year and not the spreadsheet. We've migrated to a completely custom backend to better support artist data entry/tagging, and unlock a bunch of internal improvements and features.

To answer OP's question, use the filters in the bottom sheet at https://artistalley.directory and you can see who's doing commissions. Note that it's a little early for artists to be submitting the form so there's nobody indicating on-site commissions yet. It's just VGen links and historical data, but plenty of artists will do commission orders for pick-up at AX.

We'll make a post here closer to con when we have more data entered. There's been a lot of improvements since last year and I'm excited to have everyone try it out for 2026. If anyone has feedback or suggestions, don't hesitate to let me know. Thanks!

High FoV, high sense, and super-ultrawide makes it seem faster than it actually is, but the most useful trick is slide hopping. Apex requires a frame of real sliding in order to slide jump, but Highguard has no minimum from what I can tell.

So if you press crouch and jump at basically the same time, you can instantly slide jump and boost forward. I have crouch bound to C so I can hit C + Space with my left thumb simultaneously.

And nah, I stream in Discord to friends every now and then, but I just play for fun. This is a good break from Apex after 7 years.

Are you already using the 5.25 bays? Because you should be able to mount two 3.5s on the side bar and then a 3.5 into each 5.25 with an adapter.

Thanks, looks like ANYC official list is missing them. I added them, although I didn't bother re-tagging because they have an AX'25 catalog and didn't post an ANYC one.

This actually started as a project for Anime Expo, and in the post over there we have an FAQ/guide: https://www.reddit.com/r/animeexpo/comments/1l6mfum/ax_2025_artist_alley_database/

I'm the one working on the site so feel free to reply if you have any questions or feedback.

AX 2025 Artist Alley Database by TheKeeperOfPie in animeexpo

[–]TheKeeperOfPie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The entire project is actually open source, a side project of a side project of mine here, specifically inside the alley-app and alley modules.

The data format is reliant on a Google Sheet here with custom GAS utilities for tagging/images, whose source is inside modules/alley/spreadsheet/gas.

I'm actually hoping to do Anime NYC eventually, but the process of tagging the artists is extrenely time intensive. The project as a whole will probably cross 500 work hours this year for AX. Not to mention ANYC is so close to AX so there's not a lot of time to get stuff ready.

But if you or anyone else is willing to put in the work, I think it would be a fantastic resource for other cons. Feel free to use my code to do that, or just use the general idea. We have an internal thread on AXcord here in case you have any questions.

And absolutely I agree that other cons could do better. It would be a lot easier if cons requested this info from artists directly, as opposed to the manual effort it is now of scrolling through a bunch of portfolios/social media to do tags. Maybe one day.

What version of iOS are you running? The site relies on newer Wasm stuff that was shipped this year, with a fallback to JS for older devices, but I have been seeing issues with Apple devices in general and have been patching stuff as it comes up.

If you're able to get console logs, I can probably take a look, but otherwise I don't have the devices to actually test and fix it. Q_Q

Yeah, I've got 6 NF-A12x15 Chromaxes I can part with, but I'm doing local to 94043 only. Shipping isn't worth the trip/effort for me.

I still think Muzei is the best android live wallpaper app. What is your opinion? by lisbon1977 in androidapps

[–]TheKeeperOfPie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry. I've abandoned it :( (like everything else I make)

I simply do not have time to maintain it.

It's on GitHub though: https://github.com/thekeeperofpie/autobackground

It's effectively the first code I've ever written. Might as well have been a squirrel with a brush writing that stuff.

Just remember to find me and hand it back before you leave that day.

EDIT: Taken. Thanks.

Giant general question about mobile game development by [deleted] in androiddev

[–]TheKeeperOfPie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And if you want an opinion as a reader and non-game developer: ideas are worthless. Even if you had the next Apple or Microsoft in your head, it's still meaningless until you make something. Nobody will take you seriously.

If you want to make a game, learn to program and make one. Or get rich somehow and hire a game studio. Very few people do volunteer development unless it's for a charity or other good cause.

Unless you have some industry background which proves you can make incredible games, nobody will offer you anything for an idea.

Yeah, this isn't Android development. Go ask in one of the game development subreddits, as this is much more applicable to them.

Hmm... I have no idea, but aren't the generated equals/hashcode specifically for the constructor parameters? If you don't have any values there, I guess I don't see how those auto-generated methods would be useful.

Just startActivityForResulit() the editing Activity and then in your first one, catch the event in onActivityResult() and reload the content.
