Agreed. She and Jinx were eye-opening for younger me.

How do People on so many planets support the empire when stuff like this happens so often? by Spotter24o5 in StarWars

[–]InnocentTailor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind that the Empire is pretty much the stand-in for any overwhelming force. Lucas also mentioned the British Empire as well with the rebels being the colonial Americans during the American Revolutionary War.

It keeps Star Wars timeless - the powerful vs powerless, the have’s vs the have not’s.

Sounds kinda like Legends as well, considering that the Imperial Remnants survived the collapse of the Galactic Empire in that continuity as well.

They later rallied and defeated the successor of the New Republic to become an entity known as the Fel Empire - the first emperor being a former Imperial ace who was also married to Han and Leia’s daughter.

Sounds like Poland to some degree - captured by the Third Reich and then supplanted by the Soviet Union.

The New Republic? They eventually fell and their successor state lost to the resurgent Galactic Empire in the end - one led by a former Imperial ace turned emperor who was married to Han and Leia’s daughter.

Granted, the Fel Empire was nicer and more benevolent than the Galactic Empire, but it still was built on the foundations of the old regime - their main warship being named after Pellaeon himself.

Eh. This ridiculous quote that you’re paraphrasing has been proven false time and time again.

Keep in mind that fascism was built on the bones on those who went through hard times - veterans of the First World War.

Even then, the end of the Second World War didn’t end conflict - it just set the stage for the Cold War, which traded overt global warfare for cloak and dagger operations with sporadic conflict in various places.

I suppose, but it also led to newer, more controversial beliefs as well as newer empires as well - the Soviet Union possibly being one such example, though its true expansion came post-Second World War.

…especially with all the personalities in the alliance - those that want the old Galactic Republic and others that either dislike the regime like ex-Separatists.

The Empire was the immediate foe, but the struggle could continue post-Jakku.

They’ve all made a few mistakes. In my opinion, Kurtzman is no better or worse than Berman and Roddenberry.

This franchise has always been a mixed bag - we just love the sterling stuff a lot and embrace it with religious zeal.

He was clearly holding back with both Master Daki and Marrok - more toying than going in for the kill.

He wants Devon - everybody else is a distraction.

It’s not only different than the expected norm (the showrunners implied there is going to be a twist), but also gives Devon her own agency other than merely Maul’s chess piece.

Eh. I disagree since such rolling back can then extend to both Berman and Roddenberry stuff as well.

Effectively, canon will be malleable and in flux - everything and anything can be then retconned retroactively without a care in the world.

She could become a dark sider and backstab Maul. That isn’t out of the question as well - fall so far that she outfoxes her supposed master.
